In short

Gankeun Galbi Seongseo Branch is an all-you-can-eat pork rib and pork belly restaurant in Igok-dong, Dalseo, Daegu, about 5 minutes by car from Seongseo Industrial Complex Station. On a weekday evening with a coworker, the writer ordered the pork rib + pork belly unlimited course and worked through self-bar pork belly, sweet marinated pork ribs, free jjapaghetti and a final bowl of patbingsu (shaved ice dessert). On a weekday evening, I went to Gankeun Galbi Seongseo Branch with a coworker for a good dinner after work.

I've always liked meat, and sometimes after work I just want a really solid meat dinner. Gankeun Galbi Seongseo has a reputation as one of the best all-you-can-eat spots in Seongseo, Daegu, so I'd been curious about it for a while.

This time I finally got to visit with a coworker, and I went in with pretty high expectations.

How far is Gankeun Galbi Seongseo from Seongseo Industrial Complex Station?

Gankeun Galbi Seongseo is about a 5-minute drive from Seongseo Industrial Complex Station, so it's easy to get to. What I liked especially was that there's a dedicated parking lot right on the ground floor.

Dedicated ground-floor parking lot

When you visit a Korean BBQ restaurant, the food matters, but finding somewhere to park matters a lot too. On that front, this place was really convenient if you're coming by car.

It seemed like a great spot to visit with coworkers after work, and also a solid option for family dinners or get-togethers with friends. If you're looking for a Korean BBQ restaurant in Seongseo with easy parking, this is worth keeping in mind.

Inside Gankeun Galbi Seongseo: atmosphere and seating

Clean overall view of the restaurant interior

Walking in, I was a little surprised — it was much cleaner and more polished than I expected.

You usually picture Korean BBQ places with a bit of a rough-and-ready interior, but Gankeun Galbi Seongseo's decor was so neat overall that it barely felt like a typical BBQ joint.

Widely spaced table seating

The inside felt quite comfortable, and the tables were spaced generously, so I never felt crammed against the next table.

The tables themselves were big enough to lay out meat, side dishes and lettuce wraps all at once, which made things easy. And with a kiosk at every table, ordering right from your seat was really convenient too.

Which all-you-can-eat course did we order?

Gankeun Galbi Seongseo has a few different all-you-can-eat options.

  • 📍 Pork rib all-you-can-eat
  • 📍 Pork rib + belly all-you-can-eat
  • 📍 Pork rib + belly + makchang (pork intestine) all-you-can-eat

After some deliberation, my coworker and I went with the pork rib + pork belly all-you-can-eat.

We both like pork ribs and pork belly, so being able to eat as much of both as we wanted felt like the right call. This kind of lineup seems great too if you don't want to commit to just one cut.

What's on the self-bar at Gankeun Galbi Seongseo?

Large self-bar in the center of the restaurant

After ordering, I went to check out the self-bar in the middle of the restaurant while we got ready to eat. It was bigger than I expected, and the range of food was impressively varied.

There was meat, various lettuce wraps and side dishes, plus pork cutlet, fried snacks, tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) and fried chicken.

Eating just meat can get a bit much after a while, so it was nice being able to mix in other food along the way. Especially if you're visiting with a group, everyone can freely grab whatever they feel like — that's one of the real perks of all-you-can-eat. With this kind of variety, it's a place I'd recommend to anyone hunting for good food in Seongseo, Daegu.

Starting with the pork belly

Plate of pork belly brought from the self-bar

We started with pork belly first. The pork belly we brought over from the self-bar looked like really good quality.

We laid it on the grill and cooked it until golden brown.

The nicely cooked pork belly looked delicious, and above all there was no off-putting smell to the meat at all, so it was great eating!

At first I tried it the simplest way, dipped in salt oil, and it had a clean, nutty flavor that came through well.

It also went well with onion sauce or pickled radish.

Eating it with kimchi worked nicely too, and wrapping the pork belly in lettuce with various sides confirmed that meat really is best in a wrap.

My coworker and I kept saying "the meat here is really good" as we dug in.

After we'd worked through the pork belly, we brought over the second round: pork ribs.

The moment the pork ribs hit the grill, a delicious smell started drifting up and really got my appetite going.

Taking a bite of the nicely browned pork ribs, that sweet-and-salty sauce flavor was really good.

The sauce wasn't overpowering and soaked into the meat nicely, so it was tasty even eaten plain.

Wrapping the pork ribs in lettuce and eating them as a wrap was really delicious.

The pork belly was clean and nutty, while the pork ribs were sweet and savory from the sauce, so going back and forth between the two meant I never got tired of either — I just kept eating.

That's when it clicked why this place has such a reputation as a top spot in Seongseo, Daegu.

Which free ramyeon can you cook yourself?

Free ramyeon corner with Jin Ramyeon and Jjapaghetti on the self-bar

Once we'd eaten our fill of meat, we tried the ramyeon (instant noodles) available at the self-bar. It's free, and both Jin Ramyeon and Jjapaghetti were on offer.

After some deliberation, we picked Jjapaghetti!

There's a dedicated machine for cooking the ramyeon that handles the water amount and heating on its own, so it was really simple to make.

Finished jjapaghetti with leftover pork ribs

Eating the finished jjapaghetti together with the leftover pork ribs was bound to leave us stuffed.

The meat alone was already filling, but with ramyeon on top it felt like a proper full meal.

The dessert corner and the patbingsu

And as we wrapped up the meal, another thing I really liked was the dessert corner.

There were drinks, coffee, ice cream and patbingsu (shaved ice dessert), so you could pick based on what you were in the mood for. I went with patbingsu in the end.

After eating so much meat, finishing off with a sweet, cold patbingsu felt like the perfect way to end the meal. Meat, a main dish, ramyeon and dessert all in one place — the whole lineup felt really well put together.

The kids' zone: visiting with children

Clean, well-kept kids' zone at the restaurant

Another perk of Gankeun Galbi Seongseo is that it has a kids' zone.

I took a quick look, and the inside of the kids' zone was really well kept and clean.

When kids get bored partway through a meal, being able to play in the kids' zone is genuinely great for families with children. Kids get to play and have fun while parents can eat a bit more comfortably, which makes this a pretty good spot for a family dinner too.

Especially with kids in tow at a Korean BBQ restaurant, it can be hard to focus on eating — just having a space like this is a real plus for parents.

Worth it for a big meat dinner in Seongseo, Daegu?

This visit to Gankeun Galbi Seongseo Branch turned out even better than I'd expected going in. It's close to Seongseo Industrial Complex Station, so it's easy to get to, and with dedicated ground-floor parking, coming by car was convenient too.

With its clean, polished interior, spacious seats and tables, and handy table kiosks, there was hardly anything to complain about during the meal.

Above all, what I liked most was getting to enjoy all-you-can-eat pork ribs and pork belly along with the varied self-bar food, free ramyeon and dessert — a solid, satisfying package. With a clean, well-kept kids' zone on top of that, it also seems like a good option for family dinners with children.

It's a place worth visiting whether you want a solid dinner with coworkers after work, or you're looking for somewhere for a family meal or a get-together with friends.

If you love meat and want to enjoy a variety of dishes without holding back, Gankeun Galbi Seongseo, a top spot in Seongseo, Daegu, is well worth a try.

Next time, I'd love to come back with my family and properly work through the pork ribs and pork belly along with the self-bar spread and dessert.
