Yongin soba restaurant for a family meal: Chilseong Jemyeonso

I thought fall had finally arrived... but it’s still hot during the day 🥲 Today, I was especially craving cool buckwheat noodles. So off we went to Chilseong Jemyeonso Suji Main Branch (칠성제면소), a great spot in Yongin’s Suji!

Parking and the walk to the restaurant

For us living in Suwon, getting here without a car would have been impossible. But the parking lot is insane... seriously huge. My husband praised me again today ^_^ Park comfortably, then head toward the shopping arcade elevators.

It’s on the first floor of the shopping arcade. The parking garage is on B1, so you only need to go up one floor. At first it looked like an apartment entrance, so I was like, a restaurant here...? I was SO surprised haha. I thought we’d come to the wrong place!

Ahh, the weather is so nice... I’m excited to absolutely destroy some noodles in this weather..♡ Do you all like noodles? I usually prefer rice, but noodles suit the weather lately. Or, um, that’s just what I think lol.

33 noodle dishes and waiting seats

Right at the entrance: a confident claim of 33 noodle dishes. At this point, I’ll admit they must be proud of their noodles. The name is Chilseong Jemyeonso too, so I guess they’re noodle specialists. (I’m excited, sachou-sama.)

There are so many menu items, and they aren’t the usual ones. I was curious and wanted to try them all... ahh, what should I eat?

I’d seen maze soba, but maze udon was a first for me. Ahh, I was so curious about that too... I was starving, I could have lost it.

There were already lots of people inside before we even went in... They’d also set up seats outside for waiting like this. Let’s hurry in before it gets any later!

Spacious seating that was easy with a child

We came around lunchtime, and customers just kept coming in. If we’d been even a little later, we would have had to wait too... I saw it happen.. hehe, lucky. I loved how roomy the seating was! My daughter started watching TV the second we sat down, and my husband’s soul had already left his body...

The scissors, water, and tableware were all neatly set out, and I especially loved that they had separate baby tableware. Maybe that’s why families with babies made up 80 percent of the restaurant. (That just raises my expectations even more, you know.)

Cool noodles and sweet broth in the pan soba set

The pan soba set I ordered. I was craving cold buckwheat noodles so badly that day, and it also came with tonkatsu for my baby, so that’s what I got!

Can you see those noodles...? I’m not exaggerating—the shine was unreal. It wasn’t just because I was hungry, they really were delicious, sobㅜ I want to feed you some myself so you can taste them... for real. And the broth was ridiculously sweet and tasty too... I think this pan memil (buckwheat noodles) ranks in my personal top three. (For reference, I drank almost all the broth.)

Free baby rice

Such a wonderful perk here!!!!! Baby rice is free, and if you order it, it comes out looking this cute. (If it’s not enough, they’ll give you more when you ask.) Add the tonkatsu and rice, and there you have a baby meal in no time, right?

Kongguksu I ate more of because of the buckwheat noodles

The kongguksu (noodles in chilled soy milk broth) my husband ordered! I don’t usually like kongguksu that much, you know...? But the noodles were buckwheat, so it was delicious... I guess I’m secretly picky about noodles haha.

I couldn’t not take a photo of this... It may seem like I’m being so dramatic, but I truly mean it. I’m really not someone who enjoys kongguksu all that much, but I kept scooping this up hahaha. I’m on team sugar, so I ate mine with sugar ♡

And nostalgic tteok-kkochi too

The tteok-kkochi (skewered rice cakes) we ordered as a side 🍡 My husband and I were once really into tteok-kkochi, so we even made it at home. It’s surprisingly annoying to make, so seeing it at a restaurant brought back so many memories—and it was delicious 👍

Another delicious meal today 💛 We finally found a new great restaurant near Seongbok Station. There aren’t many noodle specialists you can comfortably take a baby to, but Chilseong Jemyeonso in Yongin Suji was such, such a good place to visit with a child!! There’s so much variety that we definitely have to come back next time.
