Dinner at Deo Chadol after Seoul Land and Gwacheon Children's Grand Park

Deo Chadol is a duck chadol and jumulleok specialty restaurant at 5 Ttwitgol 2-ro, 1st floor, Gwacheon-si, Gyeonggi-do. After a day out at Gwacheon Children's Grand Park, we went looking for somewhere nearby for dinner and ended up at this Seonbawi Station favorite! If you're looking for a good restaurant close to Seoul Land in Gwacheon, this is one I'd recommend.

It's a great spot to hit after enjoying nearby attractions like Seoul Grand Park, the art museum, the zoo, or the Gwacheon National Science Museum. There's a lot to see around here, so it worked well as a dinner stop on a date course.

How long is the wait at Deo Chadol at 5:30pm on a Saturday?

This duck BBQ spot already has quite a reputation in Gwacheon — we arrived around 5:30pm on a Saturday and, true to its fame, the place was already packed.

Deo Chadol packed with customers on a Saturday evening

Being a weekend evening, I figured we'd be waiting a while, but luckily the wait was just 1 person ahead of us. (The place is big, so tables must turn over quickly!) Thanks to that, we were seated much sooner than expected. If you're visiting on a weekend evening, it's probably still smart to plan for some extra time just in case.

What the private room at Deo Chadol is like

Even though it wasn't peak dinner hour yet, the spacious main hall was already full of customers. So we were shown to a private room instead. If you're planning a group visit, I'd recommend booking ahead — you can enjoy a quiet meal this way.

What's in the 55,000 won duck couple course for two?

Ordering via the table kiosk

Once seated, you order via the table kiosk. That day we ordered the Deo Chadol Couple Course, priced at 55,000 won for two.

The portions were more generous than I expected. It comes with 200g of duck chadol BBQ and 300g of duck jumulleok, plus a doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) and self-serve fried rice — pretty solid for a meal for two.

I especially liked getting to try two different styles of duck instead of just sticking with one preparation.

The minari (water dropwort) served alongside was a nice touch! They placed it at the bottom of the grill pan so it could cook in the rendered duck fat.

How do the side dishes and duck chadol BBQ taste?

Every side dish was delicious too — sesame dressing salad, green onion kimchi, seasoned perilla leaves — and for the wrap greens, kale was an unusual but nice choice.

We started with the duck chadol BBQ, which cooks quickly since it's sliced thin, so you can grill it fast to your liking. Eating the nicely browned meat while it was still hot gave it a great texture, and between the two of us picking away, the plate emptied in no time. Wrapping the well-grilled duck chadol in minari added a really nice aroma.

The green onion kimchi and seasoned perilla leaves worked great together too — it had been a while since I'd had green onion kimchi and it was so good that we went back to the self-serve station for a refill.

Self-serve side dish refill bar

The self-serve bar is kept clean and lets you refill whatever side dishes you like.

The doenjang jjigae arrived next — a classic version loaded with tofu and zucchini, which paired really well with the fried rice later on.

Grilled cheese from the Deo Chadol review event

We also got a grilled cheese add-on as part of the review event that day. The meat alone would have been plenty, but adding cheese made the table feel even more generous. The grilled cheese paired nicely with the meat, and getting an event bonus on top made for a pretty satisfying meal.

From duck jumulleok to self-serve fried rice

After the grilled duck, we moved on to the duck jumulleok.

Even though it's the same duck meat, the different cooking style changes the whole vibe, so it never felt repetitive.

And of course, the meal ends with fried rice. The fried rice was a total hit! The couple course includes self-serve fried rice, so after finishing the meat we wrapped up with a satisfying bowl. Finishing with rice instead of stopping at just the meat made for a much more filling dinner.

Personally, I think this kind of course would work just as well for visiting with parents as it does for a couple's dinner.
