In short

Bueokgan Restaurant, Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets is a Western restaurant at the far end of the first floor of North Plaza, next to the wine bar, in Gijang, Busan. On a first visit partway through a shopping trip, the order was lasagna, rocket prosciutto pizza and lemonade, and the green pepper sauce served with the pizza was the most memorable part. With a mood-lit interior and more than ten tables seating four to eight, Bueokgan makes it easy to shop and eat in one stop.

I went shopping at Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets in Gijang after a long while. It was my first time visiting a Shinsegae Outlet, and even on a hot day it was packed with people! The Shinsegae Premium Outlets have plenty of shops and all kinds of facilities too.

When you keep shopping, you get hungry, right?! There were a lot of restaurants at the outlet, but since it had been forever since we'd had Western food, we went to "Bueokgan," a Western food spot known in Busan. (There's also one at Centum City Station.)

It's located at the very end of the North Plaza's first floor. It wasn't easy to find on my first visit. It's right next to the wine bar.

This is the entrance. You tell them your party size and they set up the table before seating you. There's also a sofa to sit and rest while waiting. It was really plush.

Inside Bueokgan: interior mood and table sizes

This is the inside of the restaurant. It's a spacious place with emotional, moody design. There were more than 10 tables, ranging from 4-seaters to 8-seaters.

I took some nice mood shots for the first time in a while. The interior is done so beautifully that even random shots turn out pretty.

Every seat has a different feel, so it might be nice to come multiple times and try sitting in different spots.

The flower-shaped lamps looked really pretty too haha.

What is on the Bueokgan menu?

Here's the menu. The set menus are the Signature Set and the Family Set. They come with napa cabbage Caesar salad, choice of one pasta, and jambon pizza.

The menu is broadly divided into salads & sides, pasta & rice, and steak & pizza. From each section, the napa cabbage Caesar salad and the shrimp anchovy oil pasta looked delicious, and the steak made me want to try it too. There's a wide variety of pizzas as well. We ordered lasagna, rocket prosciutto pizza, and lemonade.

Bueokgan lemonade

The lemonade arrived. As you can see, a lot of the good stuff sinks to the bottom, so you really need to stir it well. They fill it up with sparkling water, so you have to stir gently haha.

Rocket prosciutto pizza and the green pepper sauce

After a short wait, the rocket prosciutto pizza and the lasagna arrived.

Rocket prosciutto pizza and lasagna served together

The rocket prosciutto pizza looks fresh and green, a healthy kind of taste. Rocket (arugula) and thinly sliced jamón are piled on top, giving it a lot of flavor.

Picking it up, there's a generous amount of good-quality cheese. It's not an overwhelming taste.

A cheesy stretch from a slice of prosciutto pizza

This is the green pepper sauce that came out alongside the rocket prosciutto pizza. At first glance I assumed it was hot sauce, but it was green. It's made with jalapeño, so it's less spicy and has a refreshing taste instead. The pizza is a bit plain on its own, but it gets much better with this drizzled on. This sauce is a must!!

What does the lasagna at Bueokgan taste like?

Here's the lasagna. It's piled high with cheese, browned nicely without burning. It's packed full inside too.

Cutting into it with a knife, you can see how stuffed it is inside. Layers of lasagna sheets mixed with pasta sauce and meat. It's different from pasta but tastes pasta-like in a way. The sauce is genuinely delicious too, and spooning it onto the pizza doubled the enjoyment. No need to twirl noodles around a fork — since it's cut into pieces, you can just pick it up easily.

Is Bueokgan worth a stop during outlet shopping in Gijang?

I only managed to try two menu items this visit, so there's still a lot I haven't tasted. Next time I visit the Shinsegae Outlet, I want to try the steak and pasta too. If you're shopping at Shinsegae Simon Busan Premium Outlets and want some tasty Western food, I recommend Bueokgan!
