Ansan Korean BBQ with spicy bibim naengmyeon: Yangsimso

The weather has gotten so much cooler lately that it really feels like fall is here. I ate mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) a lot during the hot summer, but once the cool breeze started blowing, I found myself craving bibim naengmyeon and meat. So I visited Yangsimso Ansan Gojan Branch, a new Korean BBQ restaurant near Ansan City Hall.

A window table after a Naver reservation

Yangsimso, a newly opened Korean BBQ spot near Ansan City Hall in Gojan-dong that I had been noticing on my evening walking route, was finally on my list to visit. I made a reservation in advance through Naver.

The interior was spacious and comfortable with warm wood tones, with tables for four and eight. I visited outside weekday lunch hours, so it was not too busy and I could enjoy my meal at a relaxed pace.

Since I had reserved through Naver, they seated me at a quiet window table. It was bright and open, which I loved. Yangsimso has well-arranged group seating, so I would recommend it if you are looking for a place for a company dinner in Ansan or a restaurant with private-room-style seating in Ansan ✔️

Side dishes and a self-serve salad bar

The basic sides included pickled onions, shredded scallions, salad, seasoned bean sprouts, and more, along with four dipping sauces. I could easily help myself to extra side dishes at the self-serve salad bar, and the staff were truly kind, so I came away with a great impression from my first visit.

Ordering the marinated galbisal naengmyeon set

At Yangsimso, you can order from the tablet at each table, and there are three lunch-special options that let you enjoy meat and naengmyeon together.

• House-marinated pork galbi (200 g): ₩19,000

I chose the marinated galbisal (beef rib meat) naengmyeon set, and the lunch specials require an order for at least two people. At last, the gorgeous galbisal arrived 😍 I normally really love galbisal, so marinated galbisal had me excited before I even took a bite.

Grilling it without burning the marinade

The galbisal was sizzling away on the hot grill 🔥 Since it is marinated galbisal, turning it over on both sides so the marinade does not burn cooks it evenly and makes it extra delicious.

Spicy bibim naengmyeon with galbisal

The bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) arrived alongside the meat! It was spicy and seriously delicious 👍🏻 There are two naengmyeon options, mul naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon; I chose the bibim version, and it came with broth on the side. The vinegar-mustard sauce and mild mustard were individually packaged, which felt very hygienic.

I ate the galbisal with the pickled onions and the various dipping sauces, and every combination was delicious. The meat had such a nice texture and the marinade was so tasty that my chopsticks just would not stop moving 😋

Personally, the combination I recommend is bibim naengmyeon with galbisal. The bibim naengmyeon seasoning leans spicy, so when I ate it with the meat, I just kept going back for more.

Ttukbaegi ramen and a review event

For a finishing palate cleanser, I ordered ttukbaegi ramen (ramen in a hot earthenware pot)! I do not eat ramen much these days, so it had been a while, but it was hot, chewy, and nicely spicy—the perfect way to finish.

Yangsimso is also running a review event. If you write a receipt review, you can receive an ade, ice cream, or two pieces of sausage as a free service.
