Suwon restaurant with tiled-roof window seats: Nonchalant Lounge

I went on a Haenggung-dong outing with a friend who was visiting Suwon for the first time! The interior, the vibe, and the food were all perfect, so I want to tell everyone looking for a date-course restaurant in Haenggung-dong, Suwon about Nonchalant Lounge first.

Nonchalant Lounge is located near Janganmun Gate in Haenggung-dong. There's no dedicated parking lot, but with a public parking lot and bus stop nearby, it was easy to get to.

We visited on a weekday afternoon, and even before stepping inside I was gasping — how did I not know about such a pretty place until now!?

Nonchalant Lounge's signature: tiled roofs through the window

The real signature of Nonchalant Lounge is the Haenggung-dong view through the window..✨️ The old-town tile-roof scenery that's unique to Haenggung-dong blended with the lounge so beautifully, the atmosphere was genuinely stunning.

The warm sunlight pouring deep into the space matched the sentimental mood perfectly — two thirty-somethings excited to be at a hot spot again after a while.

The tables weren't cramped, and even without extra lighting the sunlight alone made everything gorgeous for selfies or food photos..✨

Signature lemon beer: easy sipping even for a lightweight

Ordering by QR code at Nonchalant Lounge was so convenient. Browsing the menu, we ordered lemonade and the signature lemon beer! The staff recommended the lemon beer, and it turned out to taste like a nostalgic beer I used to drink often in Europe. It wasn't very strong, so even my friend who can't handle alcohol well kept sipping it happily, saying it was delicious.

Bisque rosé pasta with a squeeze of lemon

The first dish to arrive was the bisque rosé pasta! The visual alone was perfect, a pass right away.

The deep, savory flavor of the slow-simmered bisque sauce soaked right into the noodles — genuinely delicious. Squeezing lemon juice over it cut through the slight richness that can build up, which paired really well with the lemon beer.

And the shrimp were so plump! Just one was almost filling on its own, and it was genuinely delicious🥺 Next time we meet, I have to order the bisque pasta again...!

Salchisal steak, cooked just right with no doneness to choose

While we were still deep into the bisque pasta, the 🥩 salchisal (chuck flap) steak arrived. We didn't specify doneness, but it came out exactly right, the juices sealed in a moist center.

I genuinely wasn't expecting much, but the moment I took a bite, that distinct nutty flavor of salchisal burst out, so tender that my friend and I kept raving about how it could be this good. Topped with a bit of the garnish and sauce that came alongside, it cut the richness of the meat perfectly — a great combination🥺

The steak and bisque pasta went surprisingly well together, and with the refreshing lemonade and lemon beer, it just couldn't have been better.

How many dishes for two? Adding butter rice

Worried we might still be a bit hungry, we added this butter rice too — fluffy grains, and the flakes on top gave it great umami, so good.

Three dishes were just right for two people, and if you don't eat much, skipping the rice and just getting two mains would probably be enough.

A Haenggung-dong date course that gets better after sunset

The atmosphere was great and the menu combination was a success, so we got to talk happily the whole time we were there at Nonchalant Lounge. It's a place that fits perfectly as a Haenggung-dong date course, so I want to come back again with my fiancé next time💗
