I found a really good-vibe date restaurant in Haenggung-dong 🥹
When you're dating in Haenggung-dong, good food matters, but atmosphere matters too!! Especially for an evening date — I prefer somewhere that isn't too bright and chaotic, with good music, where you can sip a glass of wine and chat slowly.
This time we went to Nonchalant Lounge in Haenggung-dong. At first we just went for dinner, but once we walked in, the atmosphere was so much better than expected that we were both really happy with it.

Where is Nonchalant Lounge? Jeongjo-ro near Janganmun Gate in Haenggung-dong
Nonchalant Lounge is located near Janganmun Gate!! It's right across the road from the NongHyup Suwon Bukmun branch parking lot in Haenggung-dong, so it's easier to find than expected~~ It's a good spot to head to for dinner after checking out the fortress wall or stopping by nearby cafés on a Haenggung-dong date.

Where to park near Nonchalant Lounge
Parking matters too — there's the Hwahongmun public parking lot and the Jangan-dong public parking lot near the restaurant, and according to the restaurant's notice, weekday parking fees are covered for up to 2 hours. If you're driving to Haenggung-dong, it's worth checking the parking support conditions before you visit.

Evening date mood at Nonchalant Lounge: LP speaker music and soft lighting
The moment I walked in, I thought, this is a great place for a date 🥹 It wasn't too bright overall, and the soft lighting made the atmosphere so much better for an evening visit. That said, it's not just dark — each table had just the right amount of mood lighting, which was perfect for talking while eating!
What I liked most that day, above all, was the music selection. Music playing from an LP speaker~~ the sound was great and the song choices themselves were great, which really elevated the romantic atmosphere.

What is the seating like at Nonchalant Lounge?
There was a good variety of seating — sofa seats for groups and bar seats too. If you're visiting as a couple, there are seats where you can sit cozily together, and there are also plenty of options if you're visiting with a larger group.
Overall the atmosphere felt closer to a lounge or a wine bar than a typical Western restaurant, and visiting in the evening definitely brought out that charm even more.

Nonchalant Lounge menu and QR ordering
Nonchalant Lounge has a wide range of dishes, from pasta and risotto to steak and side dishes. Ordering was convenient with QR ordering right at the table 👍 There's also a separate bar menu available after 5pm, and a good range of drinks including highballs, beer, and wine.

There was so much that looked delicious it was hard to choose 🤔 but after much deliberation, here's what we ordered that day:
- Homemade meatballs and French baguette ₩23,000
- Bisque rosé pasta ₩19,000
- Truffle bulgogi risotto ₩18,000
- Signature lemon draft beer ₩5,500
- 1 Sprite
That's what we ordered.

Signature lemon draft beer, 5,500 won
The first thing that came out was the signature lemon draft beer!! I loved it completely 😍 The lemon draft beer comes served in an ice-filled glass, kind of like that iced draft beer feel from Yeokjeonhalmaek (a beer chain). I usually like radler, but this was less sweet than a radler with more of that crisp lemon zing, which paired really well with the food.

Homemade meatballs and French baguette, 23,000 won
The homemade meatballs and French baguette come with a spicy tomato sauce — the meatballs alone were delicious, but dipping them in the sauce and piling them onto the bread gave a totally different feel.

Piling meatballs and sauce onto the French baguette — I thought this would really work as a beer snack too!

Bisque rose pasta, 19,000 won
And then the bisque rosé pasta, which broke my expectations. I was expecting a typical rosé pasta, but it was surprising how strongly the shrimp flavor came through.

On top of the soft, creamy rosé sauce, the shrimp flavor really came through, giving it a different feel from the usual rosé pasta. And the shrimp were so plump and juicy!! The sauce itself had a rich, distinctly seafood depth that I really liked.

Truffle bulgogi risotto, 18,000 won: the most memorable dish of the night
And personally, the dish I remember most from that day was the truffle bulgogi risotto. It's risotto with crisply grilled bulgogi (marinated beef), a hint of truffle aroma, and a house-made cream sauce with perilla leaf on top. At first I wondered whether bulgogi, truffle, and perilla leaf together could really work? But once I tried it, the combination turned out far better than I expected.

The truffle aroma rises gently, followed by the rich flavor of the bulgogi, and with the perilla leaf aroma layered on top, the whole thing becomes really fragrant in your mouth. The house-made cream sauce was the key touch — it had a subtly tangy, sour-cream-like edge that surprised me. Each flavor didn't feel separate; they oddly worked together really well. I'd say this risotto is the dish where Nonchalant Lounge's own character really shows.

Next time I go, I think I'll order the signature lemon draft beer again 🍋 After eating something creamy and rich like the pasta or risotto, one sip of the lemon draft beer cleanses your palate, so the pairing with the food was really good.

Is Nonchalant Lounge worth it for a Haenggung-dong evening date?
I thought it would be nice to come back during the day for brunch next time. The atmosphere around the Haenggung-dong fortress wall is different in daytime, so it could also be a good course to have brunch and then take a walk.
If you're specifically looking for a pasta date spot in Haenggung-dong, the food and the atmosphere were both good enough that it's worth adding to your date course. If a date that's just café-hopping around Haenggung-dong feels a bit lacking, I'd recommend having dinner at Nonchalant Lounge in the evening and then walking the fortress wall. I was so happy with this visit that I want to come back for a daytime brunch next time — and I'll take my time picking a different menu then :)
