Jeonpo-dong lunch curry after a Monday closed-day miss: Sarugak20
In short
Sarugak20 is a Japanese-style curry restaurant in the basement of a building on Seojeon-ro 68beon-gil in Jeonpo-dong, Busanjin, Busan. After a wasted trip on the restaurant's regular Monday closing day, the writer came back for brisket cream curry, half-and-half curry, a sweet potato cheese croquette and grapefruit juice, all in generous portions. Quiet and full of little props, the Sarugak20 basement works just as well for a solo lunch as for a date.

I've been kind of obsessed with curry lately, and after eating somewhere really good, I actually got the courage to keep trying more curry places...!!
I searched a lot for good curry spots in Jeonpo, but not many came up. When I dug around, a lot had already closed down or had so-so menus, but Sarugak20 was one of the places that looked promising.
Last time I went to eat there, I found out it was closed and had a whole thing (?) happen so I couldn't eat — but this time I went and ate very properly, haha.

Such a cute basement curry place in Jeonpo, haha.

The Sarugak20 menu: curry, sides and even highballs
Sarugak20's menu has various types of curry, plus a wide range of side dishes. There are drinks, beer, even highballs!!
Even if it's hard to decide, the menu board has recommended items marked, so you can just pick one. There's also cream soda, which totally feels like a Japanese café, right? >,< After finishing your meal, you can relax and enjoy the café side too. There's also ramune. The ramune-mune-muneng I saw at Kim Young Sanghoe, haha.

What the Sarugak20 basement feels like for a solo lunch
Even random photos come out full of mood here, haha. This curry restaurant had such a great atmosphere, almost like a café. It's quiet and cozy, so it looked perfect for a solo meal, and there are also large tables, so it looked good for a meal with family or friends too.

There were so many cute little props around. You could feel the owner's touch everywhere. There were a lot of handmade pieces too, and it was fun just looking around.

Personally, this was my favorite spot in the space. Somewhere between autumn and winter ~ ~? Genuinely, every corner had props and interior details worth looking at. I didn't expect much since it's a basement, but it really exceeded expectations..🤎 I loved the wood-tone interior too, it kind of gave off Little Forest movie vibes!! lol

Even the hand-washing sink was full of mood, is that even allowed? Thanks to the lighting, the sink area felt cozy too, and there was hand wash and hand cream ready, so you can wash up squeaky clean and moisturize right after!

Brisket cream curry, half-and-half curry and sweet potato cheese croquette
The complimentary water and grapefruit juice, haha. Make sure to try the grapefruit juice. Sweet, refreshing, seriously good, haha.

Brisket cream curry at Sarugak20
How the brisket cream curry tasted
It's piled high with brisket and the portion is really generous. Little cherry tomatoes add color to the curry, haha.
The cream curry was smooth but still had that curry aroma, so it was delicious, and scooping it up together with the brisket made it really filling.

Half-and-half curry: cream curry plus beef curry
Half-and-half curry is cream curry and beef curry together!! If it's your first visit, I'd personally recommend the half-and-half. You get to try two kinds, and the portion is generous too.
The beef curry has cheese on top, and the sauce was just the right amount of rich, going down smoothly with the rice. The diced radish kimchi was surprisingly good too, lol. Eating a piece right when you start to feel a little full makes the curry go down smoothly again, lol.

Sweet potato cheese croquette
Completely crispy on the outside!!!!!! Sweet on the inside!!!!! The cheese stretched and stretched, genuinely delicious. The cabbage salad paired really well too, haha. Highly recommend as a side.

Is Sarugak20 worth a Jeonpo-dong lunch trip?
Sarugak20 is great for a date too, and if you want a satisfying meal that leaves you in a good mood, I really want to recommend Sarugak20 in Jeonpo.
The frozen curry sold on Smartstore can also be picked up directly at the store!! Meaning you can enjoy Sarugak20's warm flavors comfortably at home or at the office too, haha.
The store operates with no break time, and the owner is super kind. Sarugak20 deserves all the support, seriously!!
