Yeouido Station Italian restaurant: salumi pizza for two, Cuisine R

When I have plans in Yeouido, picking a restaurant is oddly stressful. There are so many places, but once you actually try to find a good Yeouido Station restaurant with a decent atmosphere and reliably good food, the options shrink fast.

This time I went to Cuisine R, which has been running as an Italian restaurant in Yeouido for a long time.

It's a place where you can enjoy pasta, pizza, and risotto, plus wine, so it seemed like a good fit for anyone looking for an Italian date spot in Yeouido. Looking at other reviews, a lot of people also mention visiting for the pasta, pizza, and wine.

An Italian restaurant you can walk to from Yeouido Station

Cuisine R is close enough to Yeouido Station to walk to, so getting there by public transportation wasn't a hassle at all. It's located on the 2nd floor of Baeksang Building.

Given the nature of the Yeouido area, weekdays tend to bring a lot of office worker gatherings and company dinners, but Cuisine R felt a bit different from the typical office-worker restaurant.

With a lineup ranging from pasta, pizza, and risotto to steak, plus wine on the side, it felt like a place better suited to a leisurely meal than a quick lunch.

Reviews confirm people use it for dates, anniversaries, dinner get-togethers, and company dinners. That said, some reviews mention it can get a bit crowded during lunch peak hours or when there's a large group, so if you're after a quiet Italian date in Yeouido, it might be worth avoiding peak times or checking on seating when you make a reservation.

Salumi pizza: the burrata-topped showstopper

The first dish to arrive was Cuisine R's salumi pizza. On top of a thin-baked crust was a generous layer of prosciutto-style ham, with a big scoop of soft burrata cheese right in the center.

Looking back at the photos, this dish was definitely the visual star of the day haha. With basil, tomato, and cheese added on top, the colors alone made it look pretty appetizing.

When I cut into the burrata a bit, the inside was really soft and creamy.

Eaten on its own, the ham can taste quite salty, but paired with the burrata it mellows out a lot. The tomato's acidity and the basil aroma also came through here and there, so it wasn't as heavy as I expected.

Personally, I prefer pizzas that come with a variety of toppings rather than ones loaded up with just dough and cheese, and this one really suited my elementary-schooler son's taste too. He ate it up haha.

Aglio olio pasta: light with plenty of garlic flavor

Along with the salumi pizza, we also ordered Cuisine R's aglio olio pasta. When it first arrived at the table, the visual was a bit different from what I usually picture for aglio olio, which caught my eye — the noodles were topped with vegetables and cheese, with the sauce soaking in nicely, and it looked quite appetizing.

Twirling the noodles around the fork, I could taste that garlicky savoriness coming through, and overall it was easy to eat without feeling heavy. The sauce coated the noodles well so they weren't dry, and the extra ingredients mixed in gave it some nice texture too.

Above all, it paired really well with the salumi pizza we ordered that day. The salumi pizza has a clear saltiness from the prosciutto and richness from the burrata, so switching back and forth to the aglio olio in between let us enjoy two different flavor profiles haha.

If you're visiting with one other person, I'd recommend ordering one pizza and one pasta to share, like we did. It might be the most solid, satisfying combo if you want to try a few different Italian dishes in one sitting.

Is it a good spot for an Italian date in Yeouido?

Having been there myself, I'd say Cuisine R's real strength isn't just being 'a place to eat pasta' — it's a restaurant that's good for talking over a meal.

If you're on a date in Yeouido, it's easy to head to The Hyundai or the Han River area afterward, and the menu lineup also suits a slower dinner with wine.

Dishes like the salumi pizza, which look great the moment they land on the table, are also nice for days when you want to set a mood.

That said, I wouldn't go so far as to call it 'the quiet, private restaurant in Yeouido' without qualification — the atmosphere can shift depending on when you visit and where you sit. Since there are private rooms available, booking ahead is probably a good idea.

Yeouido has no shortage of restaurants, but if you're looking for a Yeouido Station restaurant where you can enjoy pasta, pizza, and wine with a bit of ambiance, Cuisine R was definitely worth the visit.

It's the kind of place worth remembering for an Italian date in Yeouido, especially on days when you want a leisurely meal and conversation rather than just a regular dinner, like a date or an anniversary.

If I go back, I'd order the salumi pizza again for sure, and next time I'd like to add a risotto or a steak and pair them with wine.
