Yeouido IFC Mall tteokbokki restaurant, no weekend wait: Hyeonseonine

I went back to Hyeonseonine, my go-to spot whenever I'm craving tteokbokki in Yeouido. I stop by whenever I want tteokbokki or Korean snacks at IFC Mall or The Hyundai Seoul. This time, instead of instant tteokbokki, I ordered the Hyeonseoni Set, which comes with regular tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae, and gimbap.

Where is Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch, and is there a weekend wait?

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is on basement level 2 of the Yeouido IFC Mall arcade. It connects underground from Yeouido Station, and it's easy to find right next to the GS25 convenience store near the IFC Mall entrance.

There are seats inside the restaurant, plus a separate dining space next to the convenience store. It was a weekend visit and the place was busy, but we sat down and ate without any wait.

Hyeonseonine's menu and how to order at the kiosk

Hyeonseonine has a wide range of snack dishes, from instant tteokbokki to regular tteokbokki, sundae, fried snacks, and gimbap. This time we ordered the Hyeonseoni Set! It was 23,000 won, plus 2,000 won for a Coke, for a total of 25,000 won. The Hyeonseoni Set comes with tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae, and gimbap together — a great combo for two people.

You order at the kiosk by the entrance, and grab any tableware or radish pickles you need from the self-serve bar.

What comes in the 23,000-won Hyeonseoni Set

With tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae, and gimbap all coming out at once, the table gets pretty packed. We ate it between two of us, and the portion was generous enough that we were stuffed by the end. Haha.

Hyeonseonine's wheat rice cake tteokbokki in medium spice

For the tteokbokki, you can choose between mild and medium spice, and we went with medium. Hyeonseonine is pretty well known for its spicy tteokbokki, so even the medium option is noticeably spicy. If you can't handle spice well, I'd recommend going with mild.

The rice cakes are wheat-based, so they're chewy, and the broth comes out generously. The tteokbokki itself is delicious, but honestly I love dipping other things into that broth. Haha.

Fried snacks dipped in the tteokbokki broth

The fried snacks came with sweet potato, fried dumplings, vegetable fritters, squid, and kimmari (seaweed noodle rolls). I've always loved sweet potato fritters, so the sweet potato and vegetable fritters were especially good.

Dunking the crispy fried snacks deep into the tteokbokki broth — this combo simply can't be bad. Haha.

The sundae and gimbap in the set

The sundae came with organs on the side, including liver and lung. The sundae itself was solidly good, and since I love liver, I enjoyed that too.

And the gimbap was genuinely delicious too. It's good on its own, but dipping it in the tteokbokki broth lets a bit of the spicy sauce soak in, making it even better. Haha.

Dipping the fried snacks, sundae, and gimbap one by one into the tteokbokki broth was so much fun that I was glad we went with the combo set that came with everything.

Is Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch worth a visit?

Hyeonseonine is the place I keep coming back to whenever I'm craving tteokbokki in Yeouido. It's a great stop when you want tteokbokki or Korean snacks at IFC Mall or The Hyundai Seoul, and everything from the tteokbokki to the fried snacks, sundae, and gimbap is reliably good. Personally, I think Hyeonseonine makes the best tteokbokki in Yeouido. Haha. I'll definitely be back the next time I get a craving.
