In short
Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal is a hanwoo (Korean beef) grill restaurant on Deuran-ro in Hwanggeum-dong, Suseong-gu, Daegu. A couple arrived at 5pm and ordered hanwoo makgui (thin-cut grilled beef) and galbitsal (rib meat) with no rice at all, and 400g of hanwoo for around 40,000 won was generous enough to leave both of them stuffed, with the house-made sesame-soy sauce the highlight. Today I'm introducing a place my husband and I went for dinner near our house when we were craving meat~ We sometimes get those sudden "should we eat meat tonight?" moments in the evening, and this was exactly one of those days 🥩 I heard there was a spot near our place where you could eat hanwoo (Korean beef) without breaking the bank, so I looked it up and ended up visiting — it's the Hwanggeum-dong favorite, Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal 🤍

Alright, let's get into the review!

How much is hanwoo at Jangpro? 400g for around 40,000 won
Let's take a look at the menu first~ 👀 Wait, hanwoo 400g for around ₩40,000?! Given how hanwoo prices are these days, isn't this insanely good value hahaha? We were shocked the moment we saw the menu, like "the prices here are actually great!" Being able to eat this much hanwoo at this price 💕 It seemed like the perfect place to come when you want to eat hanwoo without worrying about the bill!

Why this Hwanggeum-dong beef restaurant fills up right at 5pm
👀 A Hwanggeum-dong favorite that was busy even at an early hour. Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal is located in the Hwanggeum-dong area~ It seemed like a great option for anyone nearby looking for somewhere to eat dinner in the neighborhood~ We visited around 5pm, and when we walked in there were way more customers than I expected 👀 Quite a few people that early made me think this must be a pretty famous spot around here~~~

The side dishes: green onion kimchi at a Korean beef grill
As soon as we sat down, they brought out the side dishes and sauce~ The side dishes came out one by one, and the sauce looked a bit different from the usual sauces you see at BBQ restaurants 👀 And here's another unusual thing I noticed! Have you ever seen green onion kimchi served at a BBQ restaurant?? hahaha I was a little surprised it came out 🤣💚 I got so excited imagining how good it would taste with the meat, even before the meat arrived 🥩💕

Hanwoo makgui and galbitsal: two people, meat only, no rice
🥩 We ordered hanwoo makgui + galbitsal! The meat finally arrived~🥩🤎 Honestly the portion was so much bigger than expected that we were shocked hahaha. I genuinely thought for a second, "wait, did we order the wrong thing?" hahahaha We didn't order rice or any other meal item that day — we decided "let's just eat as much meat as we want~"! But wow, the two of us eating this much hanwoo felt like it might actually be too much — we were basically about to burst 🤤🥩 It's been a while since I've eaten hanwoo and gotten this full 💕
Meat really does taste best grilled over charcoal 🥹❤️ Picking up a perfectly cooked piece and taking a bite, you could really taste that rich, savory hanwoo flavor. And honestly, while the meat itself was delicious that day, the sauce that came with it — the one that looked different earlier — was the real kicker hahaha

The house-made sesame-soy sauce is the real highlight
This right here — the handmade sesame sauce! Grilling a piece of meat and dipping it right into the sauce, it went so well with the savory meat that my hand kept reaching back for more hahaha Dipping it in plain salt is delicious too, but personally I liked it better with this sauce 🤍

Rolled it up in the green onion kimchi, dipped it in the pickled onions too — we basically had our own little Korean beef mukbang going hahaha

The "Jangpro tip" on the wall: salt first, then the beef sauce
🤎 Jangpro's own way to eat the meat deliciously! While eating, I spotted a "Jangpro tip" sign on the wall 👀 It said that to sell hanwoo at an affordable price, Jangpro mixes kkotgalbitsal, salchisal, neukgansal, and galbi yangji cuts together. It also explained how to eat the meat for the best flavor! Try it with grilled salt first, then dip it in Jangpro's special sauce recipe for even better flavor. No wonder it was so good — must be that special sauce recipe 🤤 We only spotted this sign after we'd already finished eating and were about to leave 🤣 If you're planning to visit Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal, don't be late to notice it like we were — check it before the meat arrives and try eating it the way Jangpro recommends 🤎🥩

Self-serve ramyeon machine and rib-bone doenjang jjigae, saved for next visit
While looking around the restaurant, I spotted something else 👀 A self-service ramyeon (instant noodle) machine! It seemed like the perfect way to round things off after eating meat if you're craving something more 🤣🍜 Especially great news for anyone who likes to finish off drinks with a bowl of ramyeon, right? We were already way too full from the meat alone to attempt ramyeon that day... 🥹 But next time, I'll eat a little less meat (?) and definitely try the ramyeon too! hahaha
And as we were heading out to pay, another menu item caught my eye 👀 Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) with a whole rib bone in it! 🥘 Every table around us seemed to have a bowl of it. The rib bone in there looked so hearty and delicious... 🤤 We wanted to try it too, but we were already way too full from the meat, so we sadly couldn't attempt the jjigae that day 🥹 Next time I visit, I'm definitely trying the doenjang jjigae with the whole rib bone! haha Watching other tables enjoying it made me even more curious 🥹🤎
Final verdict on Jangpro Hanwoo Galbitsal
- Taste & Quality (⭐ 5.0 / 5.0) — The hanwoo melted in our mouths, and it paired perfectly with the rich, savory handmade sesame sauce — we enjoyed every bite until the end 🥩✨
- Service & Convenience (⭐ 4.5 / 5.0) — There's a large dedicated parking lot, so it was easy to drive in, and the place was popular enough to be busy from early on — a real local favorite! 🚗
- Atmosphere & Space (⭐ 4.5 / 5.0) — A cozy, friendly neighborhood atmosphere, perfect for an intimate dinner 🤍
- Value for Money (⭐ 4.8 / 5.0) — Even though it's hanwoo, the price isn't intimidating at all, and the portions were so generous that we filled up completely on meat alone without rice — totally satisfying 👍
💡 Overall: Highly recommend this as a genuine Suseong-gu / Hwanggeum-dong favorite for when you suddenly crave meat near home — affordable prices and generous portions of quality hanwoo let you eat until you're full 🤍
