While looking for somewhere to eat around Simhaksan mountain in Paju, I went back to Deulkkot Ssambap, a place I'd visited before and enjoyed. Since I had good memories of it, this time I went for lunch with a friend. If you're searching for a good ssambap set-course restaurant near Simhaksan, this is a spot you've probably heard of. It's also close to Paju Lotte Outlet, so it's convenient as a meal stop before or after shopping.

Deulkkot Ssambap looks clean and tidy from the outside. Parking space is pretty ample too, so it was easy to visit by car.

Near the entrance there are lush green plants, almost like a home garden.

Actually, this is a place where waits form during meal times.

At the counter, you take a number ticket in order of arrival, and once a table is cleared they call you in turn. So if you're looking for a good ssambap set-course near Simhaksan, it's worth visiting lunch with a bit of extra time to spare.

Inside Simhaksan Deulkkot Ssambap: is the group table private?

Inside, Deulkkot Ssambap is split into two spaces around the counter. The hall with regular tables was clean, and toward the back there's a space with a big window that felt open and airy. There's also a space for groups, so it looked good for eating with several people. We were seated in the group area, and it actually felt private.

Overall the space is arranged in warm tones and feels neat and tidy. So if you're looking for a ssambap restaurant near the Paju outlet to eat with a child, or a good Paju restaurant to visit with parents, this kind of atmosphere is worth noting. The disposable aprons were clean too.

What's in the 20,000-won deuljeongsik set, ordered by QR code

We ordered the deuljeongsik set, 20,000 won per person.

You scan the QR code on the table to check the menu and order directly,

so it was easy to order without any face-to-face contact. You can even call staff through the QR code!!

The highlight set at each table keeps the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) from going cold.

The basic banchan (side dishes) came out in a wide variety, and just looking at it felt like a filling meal. The pumpkin porridge was a nice way to whet the appetite first.

Self-serve bar: wrap greens, banchan refills and old-style snacks

The wrap greens at Deulkkot Ssambap are self-serve — take as much as you want. Lettuce, napa cabbage, kale and more, plenty of variety and generously stocked.

I didn't manage to get a photo of the refill banchan, but you can take as much as you like from the self-serve bar, and there's even an old-style snack corner👍

Pork bulgogi (jeyuk bokkeum) and squid stir-fry.

Doenjang jjigae, gangdoenjang (thick soybean paste dip), and stone-pot rice — a full, generous spread.

I first tried the pork bulgogi and squid stir-fry, and there was a gentle smoky flavor that went really well with rice.

Piling a piece of pork with the squid stir-fry on top and wrapping it in fresh greens is the kind of taste that keeps your hand reaching back for more.

If you're looking for a ssambap restaurant near the Paju outlet, this self-serve wrap-greens bar is definitely part of the appeal.

Overall the seasoning wasn't too strong and was easy to eat without feeling heavy.

Between the wrap greens and banchan, a whole bowl of rice disappeared quickly.

So if you're looking for a good Paju restaurant and like a generous spread, this is one worth keeping in mind.

Don't skip the nurungji from the stone-pot rice

And to finish, you can't leave out the stone-pot rice. After scooping out the rice, I poured in hot water and made sure to enjoy the nurungji (scorched rice) at the end. Adding a piece of pork bulgogi or squid stir-fry to the nutty, spread-out nurungji was another treat. Even when full, there's a strange charm that makes room for nurungji. 😊

Free ice cream and coffee after the meal

It felt like a waste to just leave after the meal, so I made sure to enjoy dessert too. Ice cream and coffee were both available. Having one scoop of ice cream and a cup of coffee after the meal made the whole visit feel complete. I also joined the Naver receipt review event and got a lottery ticket 💰 for it.

Deulkkot Ssambap, revisited while looking for a good ssambap restaurant near the Paju outlet. This time I came with a friend, but next time I'd like to bring my family and enjoy a full spread slowly.
