In short
Heukmaneul Boribap is a Korean barley rice restaurant in the food alley of Danyang Gugyeong Market in Danyang, Chungbuk. Two jeyuk boribap (stir-fried pork over barley rice) set meals plus a 13,000-won bossam (boiled pork) add-on came with a banchan spread that rivals a full hanjeongsik course, and the sweet black garlic sauce over the pork was the most memorable part. Traveling around Danyang, you'll notice a lot of garlic-based dishes, and there's really no shortage of food options near Gugyeong Market.
We were looking for lunch near Danyang Gugyeong Market that day and ended up at Heukmaneul Boribap, a spot a lot of people recommend as a Danyang Gugyeong Market barley rice restaurant.
Today I'll walk through what we actually ate plus the parking info. Let's go~ 🤞
- Heukmaneul Boribap location and parking
- What kind of place is Danyang Heukmaneul Boribap?
- Jeyuk boribap set composition and the bossam add-on
- Danyang restaurant recommendation, our honest review
Where is Heukmaneul Boribap, and where do you park?
Heukmaneul Boribap is located at 7-1 Byeolgok9-gil, Danyang-eup, Danyang-gun, Chungcheongbuk-do, inside the Danyang Gugyeong Market food alley. Hours are 10:00–20:00, with last order at 19:00.

It's in a good spot for a meal while wandering around Gugyeong Market, so it also works well for people specifically looking for Danyang Gugyeong Market lunch spots.
There's space for about 1–2 cars in front of the shop, but since it's inside the food alley, you can't really count on a spot always being open.
So personally, instead of hunting for parking right in front, I'd recommend using the Gugyeong Market public parking lot. (It's free, too.)
It's only about a 3-minute walk from the public parking lot to the restaurant, so getting there after parking wasn't a hassle at all. If you're planning to explore the market too, parking there and combining market browsing with lunch is probably the easiest route. 😎
What kind of restaurant is Heukmaneul Boribap in Danyang?
Danyang Heukmaneul Boribap is a Korean restaurant where you can enjoy black garlic, one of Danyang's signature specialty products, together with boribap (barley rice).

There are tons of garlic-based restaurants around Danyang Gugyeong Market, but this place centers its menu on the relatively approachable boribap set meal. 🤓

It's the kind of Korean-style meal where you mix a bunch of namul (seasoned vegetable side dishes) into barley rice, so it felt like a hearty home-cooked meal — good for anyone looking for that. 🧐 There are also group tables for family gatherings or larger parties!! And baby chairs are on hand too, which makes it convenient for families visiting with kids.

After the meal you can also get an Americano, so you don't need to hunt down a separate café to wrap things up. ☕
What comes with the jeyuk boribap set and the 13,000-won bossam?
We ordered two of the jeyuk boribap sets, one of Heukmaneul Boribap's signature menu items. 🤓

It's that comforting Korean dish where you add seasoning to barley rice loaded with namul and mix it all together. (The banchan is seriously insane — a five- or six-hundred-thousand-won hanjeongsik place could step aside. Wait, I mean 50,000–60,000-won 👍)

With jeyuk (stir-fried pork) added on top, it felt way more filling than just namul and barley rice alone. There's black garlic sauce glistening beautifully on top of the pork too!!
Mixing plenty of namul into the barley rice and then eating pork in between gave the meal a nicely balanced feel — meat and vegetables together.
We thought the jeyuk boribap set alone might be a bit lacking, so we added the ₩13,000 bossam. Bottom line — we were so glad we did. Haha. (What if we hadn't ordered it... just thinking about it now gives me chills 🤦♂️)

Seriously, this thing... it's a marvel. So tender, and zero gamey smell whatsoever. How do they boil it like this?? 🤣 (As a home cook myself... I feel a bit defeated 🤦♂️) The meat was great, but the black garlic sauce drizzled on the side... sweet, just right!!! Total chop-chop material.
Eating a bit of bossam alongside the boribap and jeyuk made the whole spread feel even more abundant. If two people are visiting, ordering two jeyuk boribap sets plus one bossam add-on to share works out really well. If you like bossam, you have to try it!!
Is Heukmaneul Boribap worth a lunch stop in Danyang?

If you want a hearty Korean meal while traveling in Danyang, you have to come to Heukmaneul Boribap!! Why? Because this place delivers!! 😎 The meal was filling with namul and boribap as the base plus jeyuk on top, and above all, the black garlic sauce paired with both the jeyuk and bossam was outstanding!!
It was also nice that the Gugyeong Market public parking lot is only about a 2-minute walk away, so parking wasn't stressful even for a restaurant tucked inside the food alley. 🤞 Whether you're looking for a Danyang Gugyeong Market barley rice restaurant before or after browsing the market, or a Danyang restaurant recommendation to visit with your parents, this is a solid choice.
That's today's review — the end~~~
