Gijang, Busan restaurant where spicy pilaf cuts rich pasta: Bueokgan

I went back to the Gijang Shinsegae Outlet in Busan for the first time in a while~ I visited with my husband and kid, wanting to shop and get a nice meal too! Bueokgan Restaurant serves all kinds of Western food — pasta, pizza, steak, and more — and my husband said he'd been craving Western food again. My kid loves pasta too, so we decided on Bueokgan for dinner!

True to its name, Bueokgan feels upscale the moment you walk in.

The space was pretty spacious and clean, with a calm atmosphere.

And with lush green plants decorating the space here and there, it gave off a really fresh feeling.

Is Bueokgan good with a kid? Baby chair and silicone tableware

Bueokgan Restaurant had not only a baby chair but also baby tableware ready~ I liked that the plate and cup were made of safe silicone! Kids can drop their dishes while eating, so the silicone material was reassuring.

The menu had a wide range — salads, lasagna, risotto, pizza, steak and more~ So many things looked delicious that we had trouble deciding what to eat. After much deliberation, here are the three dishes we ordered!

Carbonara at Bueokgan Restaurant

The carbonara came out first~ It's the dish we always order whenever we come to Bueokgan Restaurant. Last time we visited, our kid nearly finished a whole bowl solo.

The thick, creamy carbonara sauce was loaded with garlic, bacon and mushrooms, and the noodles were cooked perfectly chewy — genuinely delicious.

Truffle mushroom pizza at Bueokgan Restaurant

The truffle mushroom pizza looked amazing the moment it arrived~ The truffle aroma I love was wafting up, and I was already drooling just from the smell!

I took a bite right away, and the truffle scent, the texture and aroma of the mushrooms, and the chewy dough came together into something really special. It's packed with mushrooms, so if you love mushrooms, you'll really love this. My husband and kid both ate this one up too haha.

Kung pao chicken pilaf: the spicy plate that balanced dinner

We ordered the kung pao chicken pilaf because we felt like we were short on a meat dish!

It comes with a seriously huge chicken drumstick~ Honestly, seeing the size of the chicken makes you wonder if it's really chicken lol. That's how big it is!

I picked the meat off the bone and ate it with the pilaf — spicy, with the rice fried up nice and fluffy, really tasty. Since the carbonara and pizza were both a bit rich, this paired really well. The spicy pilaf cut right through the richness!

That drumstick especially was so tender and delicious, so if you like chicken, I hope you get to try it~
