Cheonan sushi restaurant now open on Mondays: Ganghan Sushi set for

In short

Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch is a Japanese sushi restaurant on a Buldang21-ro alley in Buldang-dong, Cheonan. On this second visit the order was two 12-piece special sushi sets at 17,000 won each, 34,000 won in total, served with mini udon, a seafood croquette salad, miso soybean paste soup and washed aged kimchi — and Ganghan Sushi no longer has a regular Monday closing day, so Monday visits are possible. The room is small, but the set lineup and the flavor make Ganghan Sushi worth the price.

Things I learned on my second visit to Ganghan Sushi in Buldang-dong, Cheonan. There are several sushi places on the same alley, and there's a reason I deliberately came back to this one.

Second visit to Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch: the short version

Two special sushi sets at ₩17,000 each = ₩34,000. Ordering sushi gets you mini udon, a croquette, soybean paste soup, and aged kimchi on the side.

The space is on the compact side, but the portions and flavor definitely deliver the value. And the regular Monday closure is gone now.

Let me go over what was similar and what was different this time.

Where is Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch, and what are the hours and parking?

Located at 67-12 Buldang21-ro, Unit 111, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. Open 11:00 to 22:00, last order at 21:30.

You can visit any day of the week now. Makes planning a lot easier.

Parking is free for 3 hours in the building's underground lot.

Is the Ganghan Sushi dining room small?

Interior of Ganghan Sushi decorated in white and wood tones

The interior at Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch is done up neatly in white and wood tones, with mellow music playing overhead that sets a nice mood. The space itself is on the smaller side, so seats can fill up fast at meal times. There's another sushi place nearby (Sangmu Sushi) with a bigger dining room, but Ganghan Sushi feels like it wins on portions and flavor instead.

Dedicated parking lot at the building housing Ganghan Sushi

There's a dedicated parking lot for the building, set up so you can self-park on your way out.

I always save scallop and egg for last. Eat the good stuff first, then wrap it up neatly at the end, haha.

Tasting the 12-piece special sushi at Ganghan Sushi, fish by fish

Miso soybean paste soup with a slightly spicy aroma

I started with a spoonful of the soybean paste soup, and this time it had a slightly spicy note. Unlike a regular soup, there was an extra kick of heat added.

Extra-large flounder sushi with a soft texture

The flounder was definitely different from last time. Instead of the springy, crunchy texture, it came out softer this time, which actually worked even better as the first bite of the meal.

Raw salmon sushi with an orange hue

The salmon was soft and rich, melting in my mouth. The orangey color is oddly mesmerizing to look at, haha.

A piece of real bluefin tuna sushi
Fatty swordfish belly sushi

The real bluefin tuna and swordfish belly are clearly fatty, melting away as you eat. The raw squid impressed me the most — it wasn't chewy or tough at all, keeping a nice bounce without being hard to bite through, so I kept reaching for more.

Raw squid sushi with a non-chewy texture

The sea tangle shrimp has a somewhat strong ocean flavor, so it might be a hit or miss depending on your taste.

The soy sauce shrimp pairs really well when eaten together with the chopped green onion on top.

Scallop and egg sushi eaten last

I finished with the scallop and egg. Personally, I always eat the tasty stuff first, haha.

Empty plate after finishing the special sushi set

Even on my second visit, Ganghan Sushi Cheonan Buldang Branch didn't get old — I cleared the whole plate again. The Monday closure being gone also makes it much easier to plan a visit. If you're expecting just raw fish it might feel a little light, but with the udon, croquette, and aged kimchi combo included, it made for a satisfying, filling meal.
