Suwon brunch restaurant weekend morning for three: Nonchalant Lounge

In short

Nonchalant Lounge is a spacious brunch restaurant in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, standing across from the Traditional Culture Center with a view of Janganmun Gate. On a weekend morning, three of us ordered the fresh ricotta salad (11,000 won), bisque rosé pasta (19,000 won) and chuck flap steak (37,000 won) with garlic rice added, then added a plate of classic carbonara (15,000 won) when it still felt like too little. The bisque rosé pasta and its clear seafood depth was the top pick, and a weekend morning meant plenty of open seats at Nonchalant Lounge.

Exterior of Nonchalant Lounge near Janganmun Gate in Haenggung-dong

I wondered if there was a decent brunch restaurant near Janganmun Gate in Haenggung-dong, and it turns out there's Nonchalant Lounge — a place with great atmosphere and, its biggest strength, plenty of space. Most brunch cafés in Haenggung-dong are cute and cozy, so a spot this spacious with a proper restaurant feel is rare, which only made me more curious. Even from outside it had a lot of character and looked pretty great, so I decided to visit.

What does the Nonchalant Lounge dining room feel like?

Walking in, I was struck by how spacious it is compared to most eateries in Haenggung-dong. It's a roomy restaurant with a genuinely restaurant-like feel — jazz playing throughout and really nice interior design. I loved it.

Restaurant interior with standout lighting and table layout

You could tell care had gone into the lighting and table layout, so it was a great space for photos too. The kitchen is visible from outside, which gave me confidence in the place. Every single photo came out pretty — exactly that good-vibes-restaurant feeling!!

Ordering by QR code at the table

Once seated, you order via the QR code at the table. Even if each person scans it separately, everyone can see what everyone else picked at the same time, which was convenient. There were a lot of tempting menu items, so I agonized over it a bit haha. The menu displays like this, and you can add extras like garlic rice! We added garlic rice to the steak. We ordered a salad, rosé pasta, steak, and a juice.

Why weekend mornings mean open seats

The dining hall with plenty of open seats on a weekend morning

Since we went not long after weekend opening, only a few tables were occupied — if you want a relaxed weekend-morning brunch spot, I'd recommend this. It filled up more once lunchtime hit. Even so, the tables are spaced generously, so we were able to eat comfortably.

  • Recommended for weekend mornings (plenty of seats)
  • Busier around lunchtime
  • Wide spacing between tables

Is Nonchalant Lounge stroller-friendly?

I spotted about two strollers, so it seems to be a stroller-friendly place. Good option if you want to bring your baby and still eat somewhere with good atmosphere.

Fresh ricotta salad, 11,000 won

The fresh ricotta salad (₩11,000) arrived! The ricotta cheese on top was so good I wanted to savor it slowly haha. Everything was fresh too. I expected a small portion, but the amount was surprisingly generous, and my fork kept going back for more.

Bisque rosé pasta, 19,000 won: the day's top pick

Bisque rosé pasta (₩19,000). The moment I tasted the rosé pasta, I could tell the seafood stock was the real deal.

I already love shrimp umami, and this wasn't a faint, watered-down umami — it hit immediately as a proper seafood rosé pasta. I mopped up every bit of the sauce. Absolutely delicious. My top pick of the day was the rosé pasta! The shrimp were plump and the noodles cooked just right — a pasta almost anyone would enjoy, unless you can't eat seafood.

Chuck flap steak, 37,000 won, with garlic rice added

Chuck flap steak (₩37,000). It was a well-cooked medium-rare steak — and chuck flap cooked medium-rare, need I say more.

Garlic rice added alongside the steak

The garlic rice we added was like a stir-fried rice with ham and garlic? Something like that — and the garlic flakes went so well with it haha. One of my friends even asked if we could order more rice.

Classic carbonara, 15,000 won: one more plate after all

A plate of thick, creamy classic carbonara

Classic carbonara (₩15,000). There were three of us, and we originally ordered this, then ended up ordering one more carbonara. It wasn't really that the portion was too small — more like we just wanted more of it. Honestly I was already full lolll, but I was too curious. It's hard to find a good pasta place, you know.

They say a properly made carbonara doesn't have cream in it. This tasted exactly like the authentic version — thick, rich, and properly cheesy. The friend who came with me said this was the best dish of the day.

Is brunch at Nonchalant Lounge worth it?

The table at Nonchalant Lounge after finishing the meal

The music selection and atmosphere inside are so good it would work perfectly for a get-together or a date. This really does feel like a Haenggung-dong must-visit spot. It's also close to parking, which made it easy to visit. Every single dish was solid quality, so I want to try other menu items next time — a bit of a shame I didn't get to try the risotto haha. If you're looking for Haenggung-dong brunch, a good restaurant near Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, or a Haenggung-dong wine bar, I'd recommend Nonchalant Lounge. It was a really enjoyable meal.
