Hangover shrimp soup pasta in Songdo, Pohang: Plan A Restaurant

My husband and I went to Pohang together for the first time in a while 🤍 A good opportunity came up, so this time we drove down to Pohang. When I used to live in Pohang, I had no idea a place like this existed near Songdo — coming back after so long and seeing the sea plus eating great food made it feel like a proper little trip 🤭

Where is Plan A Restaurant? Hours and parking in Songdo, Pohang

This time we visited Plan A Restaurant, on the 4th floor of 1189 Huimangdae-ro, Nam-gu, Pohang. Hours are 11:45–21:00, break time is 15:30–17:00, last order is 20:30, and it's closed every Tuesday.

They also said that if you book through Naver Reservation, you get a free coupon for one side dish of your choice — so making a reservation is worth it if you're planning to visit!

Finding the 4th-floor entrance at Plan A Restaurant and how long the wait was

Plan A Restaurant is in Songdo, Pohang, and it turned out to be on the 4th floor. You go in through the entrance next to the convenience store and take the elevator up — easy to find.

At one side of the entrance, the hours and break time were posted, and when we visited there was a short wait — about 10 minutes before we were seated.

The hall had about 9 tables and baby chairs were available. Aprons, small plates, scissors, tongs, wet wipes — all the essentials were ready, which made eating comfortable.

There were eye-catching bits of interior decor all around the restaurant, so I took a few photos while we waited 📷 Once we were seated, the table was already neatly set with small plates, forks, spoons, and paper cups.

Browsing the menu on the T-order tablet, from pasta to pilaf there were so many options I really had to think hard about what to get haha. In the end, we ordered:

• 🍝 Carbonara
• 🍤 Shrimp soup pasta
• 🍚 Shrimp pilaf
• 🍋 Lemonade
• 🥤 Cola

That's what we went with! My husband had had a bit too much to drink the night before 😂 so he wanted something to cure his hangover and picked the shrimp soup pasta, while I ordered my favorite, carbonara. We also added the pilaf with whole shrimp because we were curious about it.

Once we sat down, I noticed there was a terrace. An ocean view beyond the terrace 🌊 The sea never really gets old no matter how many times I see it, does it? Even though I see the sea pretty often, whenever I do I still want to whip out my camera 🤭 Being there with my husband made the atmosphere even better — I thought it would make a great date spot for a meal too.

Starting the meal with a refreshing lemonade 🍋

After ordering, the pickles and drinks came out first. The lemonade looked refreshing just from the color, and one sip confirmed it — pure refreshment 🍋 My husband had ordered cola and drank it cool while we waited for the food.

Whole shrimp pilaf: how spicy is the dish marked spicy?

After a bit of a wait, the shrimp pilaf came out first.

The moment I saw it I thought, 'Wow, this looks so good!' — so I took photos and video first, then dug in right away haha. The menu had a spicy label, and since I love spicy food, it wasn't as spicy as I expected. Even my spice-wimp husband tried it and said this level was fine.

And above all, it really did have whole shrimp in it, just like the name says! 🍤 Sometimes when you order a dish with whole shrimp, the shrimp can taste a bit fishy and it's disappointing, but here the shrimp were plump with a nice texture. No fishy taste at all, so I kept picking out shrimp to eat haha. If you love whole shrimp, I'd definitely recommend this dish!

Thick, creamy carbonara at Plan A Restaurant

Next up was the carbonara I ordered. The cream sauce was thicker than I expected. I twirled the bacon and pasta together on my fork for a bite, and the cream sauce blended really well with the noodles.

Personally I prefer sauces on the thicker side rather than overly runny cream pasta, so this suited me well 🤍 Eating it with the bacon added a nice salty edge that kept me going back for more.

Shrimp soup pasta, ordered as a hangover cure

Last was the shrimp soup pasta. This was the dish ordered specifically to help my husband recover from drinking the night before haha. He tried the broth first and said it wasn't as intensely spicy as he'd expected. It landed somewhere in the middle between tomato sauce flavor and spicy heat.

But this one also had whole shrimp in it, so as a shrimp-loving couple we enjoyed it 🍤 The plump shrimp gave it a great texture, and eating the pasta together with the broth felt different from the usual. Having tried all three dishes, each had its own appeal, but personally I liked the shrimp pilaf best! I guess I really do love dishes with big chunks of meat or seafood in them haha 🤭

Is Plan A Restaurant a good ocean-view date spot in Pohang?

After finishing our meal, we looked around the inside again — the restrooms were inside the restaurant, which was convenient, and I liked that the men's and women's restrooms were separate. The inside was kept clean too, so it was easy to use.

What I liked most about this visit was being able to eat while looking out at the sea. It's a great stop if you're driving around Songdo, Pohang and craving good pasta or pilaf, and the atmosphere is nice enough that it'd make a good date spot with a partner too.
