Had the tripe chicken stew (곱도리탕) at Yeokjeon Pojangmacha near Yeongdeungpo Station and honestly, the portion was huge and it tasted amazing. No exaggeration. Soju was ₩3,900 and draft beer ₩2,900.

Even in Yeongdeungpo, soju here is in the ₩3,000 range — a full ₩1,100 to ₩2,100 cheaper than other places. I'm posting the photos in order: 1) the stew, 2) the interior, 3) the menu.

This is what we ordered — one soju, one beer, and the beef tripe chicken stew, ₩48,300 total.

Where is Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo, and what are its hours?

Right from the entrance near Yeongdeungpo Station, the place looks kind of sleek — a shiny silver signboard. Soju at ₩3,900, draft beer at ₩2,900 — cheap drinks, which I really appreciate.
Just really clean overall. Tables are wide, so there's plenty of room.

Hanwoo tripe chicken stew for 36,900 won, with jjolmyeon noodles added
The menu item at this Yeongdeungpo Station bar: beef tripe chicken stew for ₩36,900 plus jjolmyeon noodles for ₩2,000. Nicely spicy, really tasty. There are three noodle options — rice cake, jjolmyeon, and glass noodle (we added jjolmyeon) — and that variety left a strong impression.

You and your friends can each pick your own noodle add-in without arguing — a generous kind of stew.

I've never seen dakdoritang (Korean spicy chicken stew) served this generously. I first wondered why it was so pricey, but after eating it, it made sense. Genuinely delicious, and one order is enough for 2–3 people to go through several bottles of soju.

How much beef tripe and makchang are actually in the stew?
The beef tripe and makchang (grilled intestines) weren't just tossed in as an afterthought — there was a real amount of it. It's not called 'gopdoritang' for nothing. Personally I have a bias against Yeongdeungpo Station bars — I assume a lot of them are bad value and mediocre — but the gopdoritang here at Yeokjeon Pojangmacha totally won me over.

Also, no funky off-smell or chewy staleness you sometimes get from tripe and makchang that isn't fresh. Just clean and chewy — seems like they use good, fresh ingredients.
Since we came for a Yeongdeungpo Station get-together (even if it was just the two of us...), we mixed up a somaek (soju-beer cocktail) too — you can't have gopdoritang without a drink.

What does the sauce taste like?
The sauce itself felt like it had some real body to it — a gochujang (red chili paste)-based sauce, I'd guess. It soaked really well into the chicken meat, blending seamlessly rather than sitting separately on top — I ended up reaching for the stew more than for my drink.

See how well the sauce soaked in? I'm officially removing Yeokjeon Pojangmacha Yeongdeungpo from my mental list of 'Yeongdeungpo Station bars that are terrible.'

Proper chicken drumsticks in there too, so don't worry. These days a lot of bars charge you a fortune for dakdoritang or gopdoritang and skimp you down to half a chicken — shamelessly — but here, the chicken portion is solid, so you can relax.

I think there was just one quail egg in there... would've loved a few more of those.

It genuinely gets better the more it simmers, so keep the heat on low and let it bubble away while you sip your soju........

There was flying fish roe fried rice on the menu, and I really wanted to finish with that, but I was way too full ...........

This red dakdoritang sauce was really my thing.
How spacious is the group seating inside?

There's also an outer hall area for casual chatting over drinks — that's where we sat.
From outside near Yeongdeungpo Station, this place looks narrow, but once you're inside, it's genuinely spacious.

There's also a lot of roomy seating in the back, great for a company dinner near Yeongdeungpo Station. If you're looking for group seating in this area, Yeokjeon Pojangmacha lets you spread out comfortably and privately.

There's yet another wide space like this, perfect for a big Yeongdeungpo Station group dinner. Room enough that a large enough party could basically take over the whole section.

There's also a review event you can join for a little perk.

I've heard the beef tripe hot pot (한우곱창전골) is also great.

You can also pick bone-in or boneless chicken ~ choose whichever you like. But personally I think dakdoritang has to be bone-in — that's how you get the broth to develop as it simmers, making it taste even better.

There's also yukhoe (beef tartare), yukhoe mulhoe (cold raw beef soup), galbisal (short rib), odolppyo (cartilage), tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes)... honestly, why is there so much on this menu?
There are lighter side dishes too, so you can go without worrying about how much to order~

Wrapping up this story about a surprisingly great dakdoritang at a Yeongdeungpo Station bar. Honestly, it was so good I have nothing to complain about.
