Gongdeok burger restaurant with quokka decor: Quokka Bite double set

Some days you don't want a franchise burger — you want a proper handmade one with real patties inside. This time I went to Quokka Bite, between Gongdeok and Daeheung stations. It's close to Gyeongui Line Forest Park so you can grab a walk after eating, and the cozy space made it easy to dine solo.

How to get to Quokka Bite: 5 minutes from Gongdeok or Daeheung Station

Quokka Bite sits a 5-minute walk from Gongdeok Station Exit 1 and Daeheung Station Exit 3. It's also near Gyeongui Line Forest Park, so it's an easy stop if you're already out for a walk.

Even before stepping inside, the cute quokka-themed exterior caught my eye.

The interior isn't huge, but the white-and-wood palette keeps it clean and warm, so it was comfortable to eat in. Tables mostly seat 2 to 4, and one corner is filled with quokka props and goods that were fun to browse.

There's also an open kitchen where you can watch the burgers being made while you wait, which was fun to watch. There's a terrace too, nice on a good-weather day — this could easily be a date spot for anyone hunting for a Gyeongui Line Forest Park restaurant.

What comes in the Grilled Quokka Double Set, and how it tastes

I ordered the Grilled Quokka Double Set — a double burger set that comes with one side and a drink.

The burger has char-grilled beef patties, a brioche bun, cheese, bacon, caramelized onion, tomato, romaine, and house sauce. The moment it arrived, the sight of two patties alone made it look pretty substantial.

The first thing I noticed on my first bite was the smoky char of the grilled patties. With two patties, the meaty flavor really came through, and combined with the rich cheese and salty bacon, it had that deep, satisfying handmade-burger taste.

But it wasn't all meaty intensity. The subtle sweetness of the caramelized onion, along with tomato and romaine, cut through nicely in between bites, and the soft brioche bun paired well with the patties.

How filling is Quokka Bite's double patty?

With the side and drink included, the Grilled Quokka Double Set was plenty for a full dinner. I expected the double patty to be a lot, but in the end it was the right amount to feel full off just the one burger.

Is Quokka Bite worth a solo burger meal in Mapo?

What I personally liked most about Quokka Bite was the combination of a cute atmosphere with genuinely rich, char-grilled patties. Given the cute setting, I expected a lighter burger, but the patties were thick and smoky, which made for a satisfying meal. If you're craving a handmade burger in Gongdeok, especially paired with a walk through Gyeongui Line Forest Park, I'd recommend Quokka Bite :)
