Guwol-dong sashimi restaurant hoedeopbap with rockfish: Veteran
In short
Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch is a sashimi restaurant in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu, Incheon, where sashimi and rice meals can be ordered together. On this visit the special hoedeopbap (raw fish rice bowl) came piled with sashimi over vegetables, alongside one serving of thick-cut rockfish sashimi and a pancake cooked at the table. When hoedeopbap alone feels light, adding one rockfish serving turns the meal into a full sashimi dinner at Veteran General Fish Market.

Craving raw fish in Guwol-dong, Incheon, so I visited Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch!

It's a great spot for a light plate of sashimi in Guwol-dong, and since meal menus can be ordered alongside it, this time I tried the special hoedeopbap plus a single order of rockfish sashimi.

Where is Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch, and what's on the menu?
The restaurant is located at 22 Inha-ro 507beon-gil, Namdong-gu, Incheon — a convenient spot if you're craving sashimi in Guwol-dong.
What stood out most was the variety of both raw fish types and meal menus, which made it seem like a good spot for a group to visit and each order according to their own taste.

Special hoedeopbap: how much sashimi is on the bowl?
First up, the special hoedeopbap! It came loaded with vegetables and topped with a generous amount of raw fish, making it a hearty meal on its own.

With hoedeopbap, the amount of fish really matters, and ordering the special version meant I actually got to enjoy the raw fish properly, more so than the regular version. Mixed with the crunchy vegetables and chewy fish in the tangy-sweet chojang (vinegared chili sauce), the texture of the fish really came through.
For times when you're craving raw fish but ordering a full plate on its own feels like too much, this special hoedeopbap seems like it would be pretty satisfying. Recommended for lunch or dinner!

Rockfish sashimi ordered by the single serving
The other thing we ordered was a single serving of rockfish sashimi. These days, even when there are just two of you, sometimes you want to try a little bit of several kinds of fish — so being able to order by the single serving was great. The rockfish came sliced nice and thick, and the more I chewed, the more I could really feel that springy, chewy texture it's known for.

It was great wrapped with lettuce, and eating it in one bite with garlic or chili kept me reaching for more. The fish looked clean and fresh too, so it was easy to enjoy without worry.
Cooking the pancake yourself at the table
There were basic side dishes served as well, so instead of eating just raw fish the whole time, I could switch things up along the way. Best of all, you get to make your own pancake!!

Tada~~~

For whenever you're craving raw fish in Guwol-dong!!

Is hoedeopbap plus one rockfish serving worth it?
Veteran General Fish Market Incheon Guwol Branch is a good spot whether you want to eat sashimi as the main event, or you're in the mood for a meal-centered dish like hoedeopbap.
This particular combo — special hoedeopbap plus a single order of rockfish — was especially satisfying, since it let me get a hearty meal while still getting plenty of raw fish. If hoedeopbap alone feels a bit lacking, I'd recommend adding a single order of rockfish to go with it :)
If you're in Guwol-dong looking for a Guwol-dong sashimi restaurant, an Incheon sashimi restaurant, or Incheon hoedeopbap, this is a place worth checking out!
Ordering hoedeopbap and rockfish sashimi together meant we got to enjoy a much more generous spread than ordering just one menu item. The special hoedeopbap in particular had so much vegetable and fish that even after mixing it all together, there was no sense of running out of fish by the last bite — and with the sweet-and-tangy sauce, it really woke up the appetite.
The rockfish sashimi had its own charm, different from the hoedeopbap. Being able to enjoy that springy, chewy texture unique to thick-cut rockfish was great. A bite of hoedeopbap, then a piece of rockfish — the combination worked really well together. Eating through the basic side dishes too, I ended up feeling more full than expected.
For anyone who loves raw fish but feels it's a bit much to order a lot of just one type, this kind of combo seems like a good option. It was a great spot to visit whenever you're deciding on dinner in Guwol-dong or want to enjoy fresh sashimi and a proper meal at once. Next time I'd like to try flounder sashimi or other types of fish too!
