Signature same-day raw shrimp sashimi at Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch

This is J, who loves drinking and good food. Whenever I go shopping in Jamsil, I end up having dinner with drinks before heading home. This time, after browsing around Lotte World Mall, I thought "tonight calls for sashimi and a drink," so I searched for restaurants in Jamsil and found a place serving raw shrimp sashimi.

Honestly, raw shrimp lives and dies on freshness, and I've been disappointed plenty of times after getting my hopes up. But the reviews were pretty good, so I got curious and went to check it out myself. Bottom line: I went for the raw shrimp, but ended up eyeing the other dishes too.

Why Wareureu Mansion is full by 6pm: 100 won draft beer before 7pm

Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch had barely any empty seats at 6pm on a weekday. The reason: ₩100 draft beer happy hour before 7pm.

Nearly full on a weekday at 6pm? Turns out there was a reason. I figured a weekday visit around 6pm would mean plenty of room, but there were barely any free seats. I've been to plenty of bars around Jamsil and Bangi-dong, but it's rare to see one this crowded at this hour. Once I sat down and looked around, I understood right away.

It made total sense why so many office workers stop by for a casual drink after work. If you time your visit right, it's a pretty great deal worth keeping in mind.

Same-day raw shrimp sashimi with three sauces and fried shrimp heads

The first thing we ordered was Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch's same-day raw shrimp sashimi. When the plate arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was the glossy shine on the shrimp. Freshness is everything with raw shrimp, and that's exactly what this place delivered.

Picking them up one by one, the texture was plump and springy with almost no fishy smell. There was a reason they called it "same-day catch."

The sauces were more varied than I expected too. Soy sauce and chogochujang (vinegared red pepper paste) were the basics, but there was also spicy buldak sauce — and surprisingly, that combo worked really well. Mixing it up kept things interesting until the last bite. Adding a squeeze of lemon brought out an even cleaner flavor.

Crispy fried shrimp heads served alongside the sashimi

Personally, my favorite part was the shrimp heads. At some places you have to ask for them separately, but here they came fried up crispy alongside the sashimi. That nutty, savory flavor was the perfect finish with a beer.

Spicy beef shank and tendon hotpot: enough for three

The second thing we ordered, the spicy beef shank and tendon hotpot, exceeded expectations. I'd originally planned to just eat the raw shrimp and leave, but every table around us was ordering multiple dishes. I got curious about what was so good that people kept ordering more.

In the end, I was glad we ordered this too. The broth was rich and spicy, and it was loaded generously with tendon.

The beef shank was boiled soft, not dry at all, so it felt more like a proper meal than just a drinking snack. Even with three of us eating, there was still plenty left, so we walked out pretty full. It's a great dish for a day when you want warm broth alongside your drink.

The beef brisket, shrimp and minari pancake we added anyway

The menu at Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch has so much variety — yukhoe (raw beef), hotpots, seafood, fried dishes — that it's hard to choose. Even though we were already full, we ended up adding the beef brisket-shrimp minari (water dropwort) pancake.

Looking at the menu just makes you want to keep ordering. I came for the raw shrimp, but browsing the menu made it obvious why this place has so many regulars.

Even full, we couldn't resist adding the beef brisket-shrimp minari pancake. With so much variety across yukhoe, hotpots, seafood, and fried dishes, I naturally started thinking about coming back to try something different next time. This doesn't feel like a one-and-done spot — more like somewhere to try a new dish each season.

Retro interior and how kiosk ordering works

The interior at Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch has that trendy retro style, and ordering is done via kiosk.

The lighting and chairs were clean and fresh, befitting a newly opened spot, but the retro touches made it comfortable to enjoy food and drinks in a relaxed atmosphere. Both the vibe and the service felt easygoing. Ordering by kiosk was convenient, and the food didn't take long to arrive.

Even during a busy hour, the staff were quick to respond and brought whatever we needed right away, so there was no inconvenience during the meal. These days, great food alone isn't always enough to bring you back — little details like this seem to make all the difference in satisfaction.

Is Wareureu Mansion Bangi Branch worth a visit?

If you're looking for a casual drink spot after shopping in Jamsil, or want fresh raw shrimp sashimi in Bangi-dong, this place is worth a visit. Just remember the ₩100 draft beer happy hour before 7pm. Good food paired with a cold draft beer made for a pretty satisfying weekday evening.
