Mokdong gopchang restaurant with breadcrumb potato salad: Omokgyo
In short
Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch is a grilled beef intestine (gopchang) restaurant in an alley by Exit 1 of Omokgyo Station in Yangcheon, Seoul. The traditional hand-made garlic gopchang is capped at 30 servings a day and had already sold out, so the writer ordered the mixed gopchang platter and enjoyed the tabletop fire show, the green onion kimchi three-way bite and a potato salad made with breadcrumbs. Omokgyo Gopchang is an easy choice for a Mokdong group dinner if you book ahead.

Back with a real deal restaurant review after almost a month away! I visited as part of a sponsored campaign, but the vibe was so good and the food so genuinely delicious that I left completely satisfied. This is Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch, already word-of-mouth famous as an Omokgyo restaurant!!! Here's my very satisfying visit review, let's get right into it~
Where is Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch, and what are its hours?
Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch is at 226-13 Mokdongdong-ro, Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, 1st floor, and you can find it easily with just a 3-minute walk into the alley from Exit 1 of Omokgyo Station, Line 5! It's open daily 16:00-22:40, with last order at 22:00.
There's no dedicated parking area, or it's very limited, so if you're driving, I'd recommend using a nearby public parking lot!
One thing to note: Omokgyo Gopchang only uses domestic beef intestines slaughtered that same day, so there's frequently a wait during evening peak hours. If you have 2 or more tables, you can queue with CatchTable! If you're planning a Mokdong dinner get-together, I'd recommend booking ahead through Naver Reservations or similar~!
What the outside and inside of Omokgyo Gopchang look like
Walking into the alley behind Omokgyo Station's restaurant row, a sign practically radiating 'good restaurant' energy greets you!

The interior mixes retro charm with a trendy pojangmacha (street tent bar) feel, giving off restaurant swagger from the outside alone~ Stepping inside, the tables and floor were kept spotlessly clean, without a trace of that greasy film you often find at grill restaurants.

You can even take a receipt photo at the 'Omokgyo Photo Studio' corner~ and they thoughtfully provide floss, hair ties, toothpicks, and fabric deodorizer~

The tables were spaced pretty generously too, so you can chat comfortably without worrying about the next table over. From round tables to long connected seating, the layout was well set up — perfect for an after-work team dinner or a night of soju with friends!

Since whole garlic gopchang is the signature menu, whole garlic bulbs hang dangling overhead haha

It's been on the show Live Today twice, and apparently plenty of celebrities have stopped by too!!

This is where I sat!! The door was left open and the weather was so cool and pleasant, it felt really romantic and nice :)

The restroom is inside the restaurant~ and they thoughtfully had mouthwash too!! Nice, nice~
What's on the menu at Omokgyo Gopchang

Just looking at the menu at Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch, you can feel the pride and thoroughness of a proper gopchang specialist! Knowing they use domestic beef intestines slaughtered that very day already had my expectations for freshness sky-high..!! From the classic grilled items to the side dishes, everything was neatly laid out~!
Garlic gopchang sold out: ordering the mixed gopchang platter instead
What I ordered this time..! The mixed gopchang platter!! When you want to try a bit of everything, the mixed platter is the way to go haha. Honestly, I really wanted to try the signature traditional hand-made garlic gopchang too, but since it's limited to 30 servings a day and I arrived late, I gave up on it early 🥹

Side dishes, dipping sauces and the sundubu-jjigae
First, here are the side dishes and sauces provided! Chive salad, green onion kimchi, beef tripe (cheonyeop), potato salad, pickled onion, wasabi soy mushrooms(?), plus a spicy sauce, a salt-and-oil dip, and sundubu-jjigae (soft tofu stew) that's perfect whenever things get a little rich!!

The sundubu-jjigae alone was already a fantastic drinking snack...!!

I really loved this salad too..!! There was this crab-meat-like texture inside the potato salad, and I wondered if the owner had actually put in crab meat?!!? but it turned out to be breadcrumbs!!! I can't believe that texture came from breadcrumbs,, it was so good

The tabletop fire show and the green onion kimchi bite
The moment the mixed gopchang platter landed on the table, the staff member put on a fire show performance, and I couldn't help but gasp!! Gopchang, makchang, daechang, yeomtong, and beehive tripe piled high with green onion kimchi and chives — the colors alone were perfect.

The yeomtong, gopchang, daechang, makchang, and beehive tripe were all completely free of any gamey smell, and so chewy and tender and delicious!! The grill was also loaded with a variety of vegetables — bean sprouts, mushrooms, chives, onions — great for pairing with the meat~ Eating it with the green onion kimchi in particular was the best, the kimchi's tanginess combining with the rich, savory fattiness of the gopchang..>_<

And on top of that, isn't the atmosphere just great..! Since it's in an alley with no traffic, it's quiet and perfect for eating!!!

This atmosphere practically demands a somaek (beer-soju mix)..!🤣 So delicious ㅠㅠ

To finish, we scraped up every last bit of the K-dessert fried rice, and only then was dinner truly complete! Honestly, one of the best gopchang meals I've had recently!!!
Verdict and tips for visiting Omokgyo Gopchang
Omokgyo Gopchang Mokdong Main Branch felt like the textbook definition of gopchang — fresh, delicious, and with such a great atmosphere that I left really satisfied after a while!!
- The chewy mixed gopchang and house-made green onion kimchi make an incredible three-way combo
- Premium Korean beef gopchang with no gamey smell whatsoever, sealed in with a fire show performance
- Spacious seating perfect for group dinners and gatherings of all kinds
- Great access, just a 3-minute walk from Omokgyo Station
One last visiting tip! Since it's a popular spot for Mokdong dinner get-togethers, there can be a wait during evening peak hours, so I'd recommend booking ahead! If you want to enjoy properly grilled beef gopchang and garlic gopchang, definitely stop by if you're in the area! Highly, highly recommend~~!~!
