Seoul National University Station BBQ: 20-day aged pork shoulder set

In short

Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil is an aged-pork Korean BBQ restaurant on Sharosu-gil, a walk from Seoul National University Station in Gwanak, Seoul. On the day the writer took her son to the hospital, they ordered the shoulder cut set for 51,500 won, Gwanaksan steamed egg for 3,500 won and buldaengra spicy ramyeon for 5,900 won, and the 20-day cross-aged shoulder was tender rather than chewy, so even a child ate it easily. If meat quality is what matters most to you, Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil is worth a return visit.

Why we picked a BBQ restaurant near Seoul National University Station on a hospital day

On days my son has a hospital appointment, I get extra particular about meals. Between the tests and the travel, I want to feed him something solid beforehand.

This time too, while staying at a hotel nearby, I searched for somewhere my son and I could have a proper Korean BBQ meal. That's how I found Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil, which kept coming up as a work-dinner spot near Seoul National University Station. Long story short, the meat was more tender than I expected, and both my son and I left very satisfied.

Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil: location and opening hours

Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil is located at 70 Gwanak-ro 14-gil, Hyorim Building 1F #106, Gwanak-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Current published hours are Monday 16:00–23:00, and Tuesday through Sunday 12:00–23:00.

It's listed as about 465m from Seoul National University Station, so it's not too hard to reach by public transit. Note that Monday hours differ from the rest of the week — the restaurant opens at 4pm, so if you're planning a lunch visit, be sure to check ahead.

If you're driving, I'd recommend calling ahead about parking and availability on the day of your visit. Korean BBQ spots can get crowded during dinner or work-dinner hours, so if you're coming as a group, it's worth checking on reservations in advance too.

Shoulder cut set, 51,500 won: how does 20-day cross-aged pork taste?

We ordered the shoulder cut set for ₩51,500. It's a combination of small-portion special cuts and neck meat that's cross-aged for 20 days, said to bring out nutty fat flavor and a chewy texture.

Honestly, I don't think a longer aging period automatically means better taste.

What matters more to a customer is whether it tastes good bite by bite, haha. And here, from the first bite, I thought, "Oh, this is tender!"

It wasn't tough, just chewy in the right way, and the fatty parts were nutty. When I eat with my son, I always check whether the meat is hard for him to chew, and this meat was easy for him to enjoy without any trouble.

What I also liked was the side dishes. With several kinds of pickles and sauces served alongside, the same meat tastes a little different depending on what you pair it with. Eating it with the pickles felt clean and light, while the sauces added savory depth, so I kept switching things up. Honestly, whatever I dipped the meat in, it went pretty well together.

Gwanaksan steamed egg, 3,500 won: an easy side for kids

We also ordered the Gwanaksan steamed egg for ₩3,500. True to its name, it comes out in a generous portion, and what I liked wasn't just the fluffy texture but the deep savory flavor.

Having a spoonful of steamed egg in between bites of meat settled my palate, and it was also easy to share with my son.

At ₩3,500, I think it's an easy add-on when several people are eating meat together. The same price is listed on the current published menu.

A spicy finish: buldaengra ramyeon, 5,900 won

It felt like a waste to end with just meat, so we also ordered buldaengra, a spicy hot pepper ramyeon, for ₩5,900. It's made by stir-frying meat and vegetables, then simmering with hot peppers — a good fit if you crave a spicy broth after eating meat.

If you're visiting with a child, the spice level can be adjusted. We asked them to leave out the hot peppers.

Is Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil good for a group dinner?

Having visited in person, I now understand why Gogigupneunsaramdeul comes up as a Korean BBQ candidate when searching for work-dinner spots near Seoul National University Station. The variety of meat cuts, along with meal and side dish options, makes it a good place for a group where everyone can order to their own taste.

According to the restaurant's own introduction, it began under the influence of the owners' parents, who had run a butcher shop since 1995, went through a samgyeopsal (pork belly) specialty phase in 2012, and has continued its story in Sharosu-gil since 2016. Its focus is on aged meat, balancing quality with competitive pricing.

That said, for a work dinner, the larger the group, the more I'd recommend checking on seating and reservation availability beforehand.

Final verdict after eating at Gogigupneunsaramdeul Sharosu-gil

Since it was a hospital day for my son, I went in thinking, "Let's feed him something really good and filling today," and in the end, I felt like I made the right choice.

Above all, the meat was tender and delicious, and the steamed egg was more flavorful than expected — it stuck with me. The variety of pickles and sauces meant I didn't get tired of the meat even by the end, and the staff were friendly, which made the whole meal comfortable.

I think this is a solid option not just for anyone looking for a work-dinner spot near Seoul National University Station, but also for families wanting a proper meat meal in Sharosu-gil. If I go again, I'd probably order the shoulder cut set with the Gwanaksan steamed egg once more.

More than fancy words, what matters most for a Korean BBQ place is simply whether the meat is good enough to make you want to come back. By my own standard, this was somewhere I'd want to visit again.
