Sottture Dakdoritang is a Korean restaurant in Cheonan, Chungnam, serving dakbokkeumtang (spicy braised chicken stew) and side dishes. Sottture Dakdoritang basic information in Seongjeong-dong, Cheonan
While wondering what to eat on Saturday evening, my boyfriend and I headed to Sottture Dakdoritang in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan 🤍 It was exactly the spot for when you’re craving dakbokkeumtang (spicy braised chicken stew), haha.
The address is 31 Seobu 19-gil, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan-si, Chungcheongnam-do, South Korea. It is open daily from 11:00 to 23:00, with a break from 15:00 to 16:00 and last orders at 22:00. There is also a ₩5,000 discount for lunch visits or takeout.

As soon as we walked in, we could see steaming pots right at the entrance, and it seriously got our appetites going 🔥

There is a parking lot behind the building! It looked like it could fit around six cars, and there were entry signs in the lot, so it was easy to find without getting lost.

It was convenient that the restroom route was connected from inside the restaurant too 👍
Kiosk ordering and the restaurant atmosphere
We ordered at the kiosk. For the two of us, we got a whole chicken (₩35,000), extra udon noodles (₩2,000), a potato pancake (₩6,000), self-fried rice (₩2,000), and soju (₩5,000). Steamed rice has to be ordered separately, so don’t forget! It is ₩1,000.
They were also running an event where you get dumplings and gim-mari (seaweed-wrapped glass-noodle fritters) for writing a review, so keep that in mind~!

Check out the tips for enjoying it too. It is delicious whichever way you eat it. How could it possibly be bad~~

The restaurant felt spacious with around 11 tables, and there were plenty of different drinks to pair with your meal however you like.

The aprons were adorably dressed on mannequins, and chicken illustrations were dotted around the interior. You could tell the owner really put thought into the decor, haha. So cute!
Banchan and the self-serve bar

The complimentary banchan (side dishes) included pickled onions, cucumber pickles, kimchi, cucumber salad, and danmuji (pickled yellow radish).

You can get more side dishes at the self-serve bar. We love cucumbers, so we went back for more cucumber pickles and cucumber salad, but people who dislike cucumbers might find that a little disappointing. The cucumber salad was unexpectedly interesting and tasty 😋
Whole chicken, extra udon noodles, and self-fried rice

At last, the dakbokkeumtang arrived! The boiled egg perched so cutely on top that it almost felt too pretty to eat ㅜㅜ It looked like they make it themselves in one corner of the restaurant, haha. It already passed from its bubbling appearance alone 🔥
A Korean trait: we can’t resist broth 🤭 First, a sip of the broth! Mmm, delicious—approved!! The chicken drumsticks were big and tender too, so there was no way we could skip ordering soju 🍶

Cheers in your eyes..~🥂 To the dakbokkeumtang!

I totally recommend adding the udon noodles too. Maybe because the broth was so good, but they went together incredibly well.

Once we added the noodles, the broth reduced a little, so we added some more stock.

Personally, I added a little green onion and sesame oil from the self-serve bar, and it really brought out the savory flavor! ✨

After we had eaten a bit, it was time for the Korean dessert: fried rice~ We scooped out the dakbokkeumtang and fried it ourselves!

I set the raw egg aside because I wanted it soft-cooked. My boyfriend, that’s right!!~👏👏 A quick stir-fry and it was done!

This is my boyfriend’s heart-shaped fried rice. He quickly cooked the egg soft in the remaining oil and served it with the fried rice—it truly tasted heavenly. Even though we were stuffed, we held our bellies and scraped up every last bit, haha.
Crispy outside, tender inside potato pancake dipped in broth

I debated ordering rolled omelet, but chose the potato pancake so I could dip it in the dakbokkeumtang broth. I must have been blessed by the food professor that day, haha 🤣
This potato pancake truly showed what crispy outside, tender inside means. It felt as if I could hear the crunch through the photo... I want it again already. I personally love crispy edges, and it was evenly crisp with no soggy parts 👍
Dipping it in the dakbokkeumtang broth is heaven. It is like dipping vegetable fritters into tteokbokki sauce, you know? Highly recommended!

You can pack up leftovers~! We finished everything, but the portions are seriously huge!!!
They even had nostalgic ice cream (one cone per person) 🍦 I ate it so often as a kid, but we were too full to have any ㅜㅜ Next time, I am definitely saving room for it as dessert, haha.
Final thoughts
If you want Korean soul food dakbokkeumtang in Dujeong-dong, Cheonan, I sincerely recommend Sottture Dakdoritang! Nothing—the broth, chicken, potato pancake, or fried rice—left anything to be desired, and the portions were truly generous, so we left feeling satisfyingly full. Next time, I plan to come back and properly make room for the ice cream too 🐔
