Charcoal skewer BBQ with free bonfire & watermelon punch: Shashlik
In short
Shashlik Masan Branch is a charcoal-grilled skewer barbecue restaurant in Deokdong, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon. The writer ordered the special shashlik (₩25,000) plus a chicken thigh charcoal skewer add-on (₩12,500) and shashlik fried rice (₩5,000), then finished with a free bonfire and a summer-event watermelon punch. It's a grilled-for-you barbecue spot that's easy to enjoy and even lets you do fire-gazing afterward.

Today I'm introducing a charcoal-grilled barbecue spot I loved!

Shashlik Masan Branch
📍 경상남도 창원시 마산합포구 덕동남1길 7 2층 🚘 Dedicated building parking lot ⏱️ Daily 11:00–22:00 (closed Tuesdays) 🐶 Dog-friendly ⭕️
Parking and dog-friendliness
Shashlik has its own parking lot, and it's fairly spacious! Most people drive out to the Gapo area, so definitely check the parking first~ Recommended as a drive-and-dine spot!
Park and just head up the stairs. Dogs are welcome here too.

Free bonfire in the evening
This is a place where you can enjoy a free bonfire in the evening! Perfect for this weather. Mountain view plus a bonfire — so romantic, haha. I'll have to come back again in winter.

It really feels like an actual campsite. The day I visited, the weather was especially nice and it was right around sunset, so the view was so healing, ugh.
Inside: private rooms and group seating
I liked that there were private rooms. Group tables are available too. Great for family gatherings or a date spot! There are also baby chairs.

There were quite a lot of seats inside. Partitions in between made each spot feel separated, and I liked that the ceilings were high.

There's a restroom inside too. It was clean, which I appreciated!

The view was so good I kept taking photos... great view plus great meat = love.

The menu board and our order
⭐️ Menu board ⭐️ We ordered the special shashlik (₩25,000), added a charcoal chicken thigh skewer (₩12,500), plus shashlik fried rice (₩5,000). Once you order one item, you can add others on top. Staff explained that the basic size is about one serving for a man, 1.5 servings for a woman.
I was totally stuck deciding on a menu, and the description literally had an 'if you can't decide' option, so I just went with that — decision-avoidant, haha. The shashlik special has chicken, pork neck, and beef flap meat, so you get to try a bit of everything — good stuff. After we finished, we called the staff over and they fried up rice with the leftover vegetables. I recommend leaving some meat for this too!! So good.

There's also a review event. You can scan a QR code to write one. Apparently the event changes every month — a fun little touch, haha.

Four sauces and side dishes
The sauces are garlic, mustard, chili, and teriyaki, plus they give you pickles and hot green peppers. Having several sauces to choose from was great — apparently they're all house-made specialty sauces. I was busy dipping into a different one every time, haha.

How does the charcoal-grilled shashlik taste?
The dish arrives, haha. Charcoal-grilled meat plus grilled mushroom, onion, broccoli, paprika, and pineapple. There was a good amount of grilled vegetables too?? They put in a solid fuel burner so we could keep eating everything warm. They told us it would take about 15 minutes after ordering, but it came out around 10 minutes — nice and fast.

Dipping the grilled vegetables in the sauce was so good. The vegetables paired perfectly with the meat. Grilled broccoli was my favorite. I resisted eating it all so we'd have some for the fried rice, haha.
Because it's charcoal-grilled, the smoky flavor made it so good. Maybe that's why even the chicken skin part had a nice chewy texture.

The combination of the meat and sauce gave it a really deep flavor when eating.

Finishing with cheesy fried rice
When we had a bit of meat left, we called the owner over to order the fried rice. They asked if it was okay that it'd be a bit spicy. Oh nice, please make it even spicier, haha. They gave us a generous amount of cheese. Wrapped up the meal happily with the fried rice~

Next course after the meal 🎉 As part of the event, they gave us watermelon punch after eating. It even had a little drawing on it — so cute, ugh.

Fire-gazing time after the meal
The bonfire runs from evening on weekdays, and from daytime on weekends! I can't resist a bonfire.
After finishing our meal, we went out for fire-gazing time. Total healing ✨ If you book ahead and sit at the floor-to-ceiling window seats, you can even fire-gaze while you eat.
Fire — gazing. There were kids there too, and they loved it. The adults (in age only) loved it just as much.

We even enjoyed the summer-event watermelon punch outside while doing the bonfire. Such healing 🍀 The owner was so kind too, haha. It's a grilled-for-you barbecue place so it's easy and really delicious — highly recommend 🐷
