Where is Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters inside Starfield Suwon?

Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch sits on the 2nd floor of Starfield Suwon, near the Gourmet Street entrance and right across from Hoho Restaurant. I used to come to Starfield Suwon almost every weekend with my two kids, ages 8 and 6, but this time I went while they were at school and kindergarten to enjoy a rare bit of 'free woman' mode by myself, haha.

While looking around for somewhere to have a healing cup of coffee, I stopped by Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch. I've been to Starfield so many times — I don't know why I never came here before.

A black-toned roastery with an open kitchen

The moment I walked in, the heavy, sleek black interior caught my eye. It's set up as an open kitchen, so the gleaming coffee machine and the dessert showcase are visible at a glance — it really felt like a proper roastery café.

On the display shelf, there were various sample bottles for smelling different beans, bean packages, drip bags, and cute stationery-style goods lined up in a row. There were also goods featuring 'Suwoni,' Suwon city's green mascot character, which was so cute, haha.

What to order if you can't drink americano

Honestly, at a proper roastery café like this, you feel like you should order an americano or a drip coffee to look the part... but I have a kid's palate, and I really can't handle a bitter americano, ㅠㅠ

While debating what to drink, I remembered the standing sign I'd seen at the entrance for the 'patented coconut coffee that's sold 1.11 million cups.' Since I'm someone who reacts to caffeine pretty quickly, I ordered it changed to decaf. When I asked the staff, they kindly explained that the coconut coffee itself isn't that strong on caffeine to begin with.

Two cookies instead of the fig cake

While ordering my coffee, I also checked out the desserts, and the fig cake that's all the rage these days looked gorgeous sitting in the showcase. I wanted to buy it, but since I was alone, I figured I couldn't finish it, so I held back, ㅠㅠ

Next time I come with my husband or the kids, I'm definitely trying the fig cake! Instead, I ordered a choco s'more cookie to take home as a snack for the kids and a raspberry cookie for myself, both to go.

Inside the café, there were seats scattered around for solo visitors to sit comfortably, plus tables good for chatting with 2 to 4 people. I found a spot for myself and settled in to enjoy some time alone.

How does the decaf coconut coffee taste?

The staff told me to stir the coconut coffee well from top to bottom, so I obediently stirred away with my straw, haha. The coffee cream on top had a deep dalgona (honeycomb toffee) color, but as I mixed it all together, it turned into a soft, coffee-milk color!

Confession time... I'm not actually a huge fan of the distinctive coconut flavor or scent. But I was curious — '1.11 million cups sold, what does it even taste like?' — so I decided to order it.

When I first tried just the bottom layer before mixing, it was the familiar coconut taste I expected, but once it all blended with the dalgona-colored coffee cream, oh — the combination turned out to be surprisingly great! The sweetness and bitterness balanced each other out perfectly, so it wasn't too sweet and was really pleasant to drink. The coconut flavor didn't overpower it either, so even I, with my kid's palate, enjoyed it a lot.

Raspberry cookie and choco s'more cookie to go

And the cookies I ordered alongside! The raspberry cookie had an incredibly soft texture, and it paired well with the tangy strawberry jam.

It wasn't a hard cookie but the soft, chewy kind, which I really liked. I brought the choco s'more cookie home and gave it to my 8- and 6-year-olds after they got back from school and kindergarten. Sure enough, our chocolate-loving kids devoured it in the blink of an eye, haha. Watching them eat it so happily, I kind of wished I'd bought a few more.

Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters was the perfect spot to take a breather while shopping at Starfield after dropping the kids off. In our family, we're planning to come back next time with the kids for the soft cookies and the fig cake! If you're heading to Starfield Suwon, keep this one in mind :)
