Siheung meat restaurant for grandma: weekday lunch set at Bulhyangjip
In short
Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch is a charcoal-grilled (yeontan) meat restaurant inside the lakeside food village at Mulwang Reservoir in Siheung, Gyeonggi. On a weekday lunch with four people including the writer's grandmother, the table ordered two sets — charcoal scallion bulgogi and gochujang bulgogi at 15,900 won each — and the older guests went straight for the bangpungnamul (glehnia greens) and the self-serve wrap vegetables. Everything comes pre-grilled over charcoal in the kitchen so it's ready to eat right away, and wrapping the bibim noodles in the meat was the highlight of the meal.

The weather's been so nice lately that I went for a drive out to Mulwang Reservoir in Siheung. Looking for something good to eat near the lake, I found 'Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch,' known for its charcoal-grilled meat — so I paid a visit.

Where is Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch, and is there parking?

What four of us ordered for weekday lunch at Bulhyangjip
Since we visited on a weekday lunch, most other tables were ordering the lunch set. There were four of us, so we ordered both the scallion bulgogi set and the gochujang bulgogi set!

Side dishes and the self-serve wrap vegetable bar
The side dishes came out first. We had grandma with us, and she ended up having two plates of that bangpungnamul (glehnia greens).

You can grab extra side dishes and wrap vegetables from the self-bar. The variety of wrap greens especially was a huge hit with the older folks!

Watching the bulgogi sizzle away over the charcoal, I couldn't wait to dig in!!!!

How does the charcoal scallion-pancake bulgogi taste?
Finally, the main event! Bulhyangjip's 'charcoal scallion bulgogi' is pre-grilled over charcoal in the kitchen, so it's ready to eat the moment it arrives. Loaded with shredded scallions on top, it already gets full marks on looks alone! The gentle smoky charcoal aroma hits your nose right away.

The meat is delicious on its own, but wrapped up it's next-level good! Pile lettuce and perilla leaves with scallions, meat, garlic, and a generous dab of ssamjang, and stuff it all in your mouth — the scallion aroma, smoky char, and juicy meat come together fantastically. The meat isn't tough at all, so I think kids would love it too.

Gochujang bulgogi wrapped with bibim noodles
Once we finished the scallion bulgogi, it was time for the gochujang bulgogi. This one comes in an even bigger portion.

The bibim noodles came out a bit later, oops — but these noodles are so good.

Wrapping the noodles, well coated in that sweet-and-tangy sauce, together with the meat gives you a flavor that rivals 'yukssam naengmyeon.' I highly recommend this sweet-salty-tangy combo.
Is Bulhyangjip worth it for a meal with older family?
'Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch' is a place where you can enjoy both delicious charcoal-grilled meat and beautiful natural scenery at once. With a spacious parking lot, pet-friendly seating, and friendly service, it's more than enough for family meals, dates, or gatherings. If you're looking for a great meat restaurant near Mulwang Reservoir, definitely pay a visit to 'Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch,' where you can enjoy the lake scenery along with meat full of smoky charcoal flavor! You won't regret it. Highly recommend!
