As the weather cools down, it's the perfect time for a drink at an outdoor table. This time I went to Yeongpo, a great-vibe bar located on Sinjungdong's hot outdoor-seating street 🖤 It has both patio seats and a cozy indoor area, so I wanted to introduce it to anyone looking for a Sinjungdong bar date spot or a Sinjungdong group-dinner spot. The place I visited is Sinjungdong bar "Yeongpo"!

Where Yeongpo is and what the outdoor tables are like

Yeongpo sits on Sinjungdong's currently hot patio street. It's within 6 minutes on foot from Exit 3 of Sinjungdong Station, so it wasn't hard to find. There are lots of good-vibe bars clustered nearby, so once evening hits the area feels lively. It seemed like a good spot for having one light drink and then moving on to another place nearby, so it's a solid choice when looking for a bar near Sinjungdong Station.
In front of the store there are patio tables set up too. On a day like this with cool evening breezes, sitting outside for a drink sounds perfect 🍻 I ate indoors this time, but the outdoor vibe looked great too, so I'd like to sit at the patio tables next time. It's good for enjoying the atmosphere with a group and also fine for a quiet drink for two, so it suited a Sinjungdong bar date spot well!
Inside Yeongpo: atmosphere and service

The interior of Yeongpo felt cozy and comfortable overall, like a hideout! It wasn't too bright or over-the-top, so it was good for chatting over drinks, and the vibe made it easy to stay a long time comfortably. It seemed good for gatherings with friends, and it also seemed like a good fit for those looking for a Sinjungdong group-dinner spot with coworkers after work.
Above all, the staff were genuinely kind from start to finish, which made the whole experience pleasant. From taking the order to attending to whatever we needed, the service was thoughtful, so the kindness stuck with me as much as the atmosphere did :)
What we ordered at Yeongpo and what it cost

Yeongpo has a wide variety of menu items that pair well with drinks. What we ordered was the crispy squid-shrimp pancake for ₩20,000, stone-plate jjapaguri with green onion kimchi for ₩8,000, and a 300cc draft beer!
The free starter: honey twist snacks and barley tea

While we waited, they brought out honey twist crackers and barley tea as a complimentary snack. Most bars usually give you salty crackers, so I was pleasantly surprised by the sweet, crispy honey twists 🖤 I started eating them without thinking much, but they were the kind of thing you can't stop reaching for — I'd basically finished them off before the main dishes even arrived... total sweet-tooth bullseye 🤭

Crispy squid and shrimp jeon, 20,000 won
The long-awaited crispy squid-shrimp pancake! 🍤 True to its name, the outside was fried crispy, so it looked delicious the moment it arrived. Both squid and shrimp were mixed in, so you could taste the seafood texture, and it paired really well as a side dish with draft beer.
Pancakes can get soggy over time, but I loved the crispy texture when it first came out, so I kept reaching for it while it was still hot 👍🏼 Since it had both squid and shrimp instead of just one ingredient, it was more fun to chew, and the portion was good for two people to share. It also seems like an easy pick as a drinking snack for anyone visiting a Sinjungdong group-dinner spot with several people ❤️

Draft beer at Yeongpo comes in 300cc only
Oh, but the draft beer only comes in 300cc! It would've been nice to have a 500cc option too... hahaha (though that's really just good for my other half). So we ordered two more rounds. Of course, as someone who can't drink much, 300cc was just right for me 🥹💛 I personally like bars that serve 300cc••🖤 The beer amount wasn't too much, so it was good for a light drink alongside the food, and it paired well with the crispy squid-shrimp pancake.

Stone-plate jjapaghetti with green onion kimchi, 8,000 won
Next up was the stone-plate jjapaguri with green onion kimchi. At ₩8,000, it was an easy add-on price-wise, and since it came on a hot stone plate, we could enjoy it warm the whole way through 🖤 When you're drinking, you end up craving noodles or carbs at some point, and this was exactly the right thing to order for that.
You could add mala spice to the stone-plate jjapaguri, but we went with the regular flavor this time. I was really curious about the mala version too, but we stuck with regular this time! Next time I think I'll try the mala version haha.
Who Yeongpo is best for
Yeongpo is great for enjoying the patio atmosphere, but the indoor space also has its own cozy, hideout-like charm. Anyone like me who wants to chat comfortably indoors while drinking would find the atmosphere satisfying too. It suits everything from a quiet Sinjungdong bar date for two to a larger Sinjungdong group dinner 👍🏼🖤
With both patio seating and a cozy interior, plus genuinely kind service from the staff, Yeongpo was a satisfying visit overall. If you're craving crispy squid-shrimp pancake and stone-plate jjapaguri with a cold draft beer, give it a try :)
