Bucheon monkfish stew restaurant, ₩40,000 set for 3: Haemul
In short
Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch is a hot-plate seafood restaurant 400m from Exit 3 of Bucheon Station in Gyeonggi. Three friends visited on a weekday early evening and ordered the Hot Plate Seafood Monkfish Stew Set (40,000 won) plus self-serve rice balls (3,000 won), which arrived with seafood pancake, flat dumplings and side dishes including corn cheese and mini steamed egg. The spice level was set to about Shin Ramyun heat, so even guests who avoid spicy food could enjoy it, and both the portions and the spread satisfied all three.

What is the restaurant like inside, and is there group seating?
Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch has around 15 tables, plus an 8-person group table set up in the back. We'd reserved ahead, so even on a weekday early evening we got seated comfortably.

Walking in, the slightly dim lighting gives it a cozy mood, perfect for drinks.

There are plenty of tables — about 15 of them.
The 8-person group table in the back makes this a solid pick for gatherings or work dinners near Bucheon Station.
With the weather nice and cool lately, they'd opened the folding doors by the window wide, so we got to eat with an open, breezy vibe — the atmosphere was honestly the best. 🍻
What three people ordered, and what it cost
The three of us ordered the Hot Plate Seafood Monkfish Stew Set for ₩40,000 and self-serve rice balls for ₩3,000. The basic table setting included soy sauce, wasabi, small plates, a bone bowl, and scissors and tongs, all neatly laid out.

As soon as we ordered, the table filled up fast with an impressively full spread of banchan (side dishes) 👏
The side dish lineup, from corn cheese to seaweed soup
The basic banchan at Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch were corn cheese, mini egg custard, potato salad, white kimchi, and one bowl of seaweed soup per person. These really did their job whetting our appetite before the main dish arrived!

Corn cheese

That classic flavor where mayo's savoriness meets corn's sweetness — a guaranteed crowd-pleaser for all ages!

Look at that cheese pull!!
Mini steamed egg
Soft and fluffy — perfect for gently warming up your stomach before diving into the monkfish stew.
Small in size, but packed with flavor!
Potato salad and white kimchi
The mildly sweet potato salad and the clean, crisp white kimchi paired perfectly with the spicy monkfish stew — a complete match.
Seaweed soup
One warm bowl of seaweed soup per person was great for topping up on broth.
How does the hot-plate monkfish stew taste? Spice about like Shin Ramyun
The hot plate seafood monkfish stew arrived piled high on a sizzling hot stone plate, and we'd chosen a spice level around that of Shin Ramyun. It was just the right amount of spicy — enjoyable even for people who don't handle heat well!

And finally, today's star — the 'hot plate seafood monkfish stew' — makes its entrance! Piled up mountain-high on the sizzling hot stone plate, the visual alone was overwhelming. 🤤

Once the monkfish stew arrived, the table was truly full, just like the menu name promised!

The well-cooked spicy red sauce topped with vibrant green water dropwort made for a seriously appetizing color.

We chose the spice level around Shin Ramyun, and it was just the right heat — even people who don't handle spice well could enjoy it deliciously!

Crunchy bean sprouts piled up like a mountain, and the star monkfish meat packed in generously.
The monkfish meat was firm and fresh, with absolutely zero fishy smell or taste!
One bite and your mouth is filled with chewy, hefty chunks of meat.
There was also some savory monkfish roe mixed in here and there.
The roe was fresh too!
Picking out the pop-in-your-mouth ball octopus (omandungi) was fun too.

The seafood pancake and flat dumplings that come with the set
Order the hot plate seafood monkfish stew and a seafood pancake and flat dumplings come along almost like a bonus. This is honestly a genius move!

Can you feel the crunch from here~?

Wrapping spicy monkfish and bean sprouts in a flat dumpling like a little wrap was a whole new world of flavor. 🥹

Finishing with self-serve rice balls for 3,000 won
You can't have monkfish stew without rice balls! The self-serve rice balls are ₩3,000.

We shaped the rice into little round balls ourselves, then mixed them into the leftover monkfish stew sauce — a perfectly satisfying carb-loaded finish!
Final verdict on Haemul Teukbyeolsi Bucheon Station branch ✨

A place where fresh seafood, chewy monkfish, and crunchy bean sprouts come together in perfect harmony on a sizzling hot stone plate!

Between the generous portions, the seafood pancake and flat dumplings that came along, and the varied banchan, this was a real Bucheon Station favorite that nails both value and taste. If you're craving proper seafood in Bucheon, I highly recommend giving it a visit. 💙
