Hojicha choux milk tea at a Gangnam café: Something About Coffee
In short
Something About Coffee is a dessert café in Gangnam, Seoul, near Exit 6 of Sinnonhyeon Station, using all three of its floors. After a dental checkup and lunch with her younger sibling, the writer came here for a round two of chatting over hojicha choux milk tea, black sesame fig cheesecake, and lemon pound cake. I went to Gangnam for a dental checkup after a long while and met up with my close younger sister for lunch. We had so much catching up to do that chatting through the meal alone wasn't enough. So I went looking for a Gangnam Station café to keep talking over coffee.

Even after a hearty lunch, there's always room for dessert, right? Haha. I figured we might as well go somewhere with good dessert too, and Something About Coffee caught my eye with its wide variety. So round two of our chat continued at Something About Coffee.

How to walk to Something About Coffee from Sinnonhyeon Station
Something About Coffee is about 314m from Exit 6 of Sinnonhyeon Station. It's tucked in the alley behind the Gangnam Station CGV, so if you're looking for a Sinnonhyeon Station café, keep that in mind when heading over!

Enter on floor 1, order on floor 2
Something About Coffee spans floors 1 through 3. Walking in, I only saw tables and no order counter, so I was a bit confused for a moment — where do I order coffee? Turns out the counter is on the second floor, haha. If it's your first visit, don't look around like I did — just head straight up to floor 2!

White tones with a touch of vintage: the second floor of Something About Coffee
The second floor had a clean, slightly vintage feel with white tones and exposed ceilings. The tile-covered counter caught my eye, and the wood tables paired with warm lighting made it feel cozy too. Next to the counter, the showcase was lined with all kinds of cakes.

The dessert counter: a party-like spread at Something About Coffee
In front of the counter, a variety of desserts were beautifully arranged, like a dessert table at a party.

With each one plated individually, they looked less like desserts and more like decorations. Pretty to look at, hard to choose from, haha. Picking dessert probably takes longer than picking coffee here, right?

Just as I'd settle on one, the one next to it would catch my eye again — is it really okay to be this indecisive in front of dessert, haha.

At Something About Coffee, a Gangnam Station café, you shouldn't just save room for dessert — you should save plenty of time for choosing it too.

Third-floor outdoor terrace, best on cool days
There was also an outdoor terrace space on the third floor. If the weather had been just a bit cooler, sitting outside for coffee would have been lovely. A cool breeze paired with a sweet dessert seemed like it would set a great mood and get the conversation flowing.

Picking your floor: how each level of Something About Coffee differs
The overall interior style was similar from floor 1 to floor 3, but each floor had its own slightly different mood. Every spot felt a bit different, so it was fun to look around and decide where to sit. At Something About Coffee, a Sinnonhyeon Station café, it was easy to pick a seat depending on your mood that day.

What we ordered at Something About Coffee

Hojicha choux milk tea, a new menu item
The new hojicha choux milk tea had a choux pastry sitting on top of hojicha milk tea — drink and dessert in one, thoughtfully combined! Coming for milk tea and getting a choux pastry too is such a welcome bonus, haha. If you're generally a fan of milk tea, you'll enjoy this one.

Black sesame fig cheesecake
Black sesame, fig, and cheesecake all together — a gathering of my favorite flavors! With cheese cream at the bottom, black sesame cream, and fig all in one spoonful, the creaminess of the cheese, the nuttiness of the black sesame, and the sweetness of the fig blended together beautifully. It's fun to taste each layer separately, but this combo is definitely better eaten all at once!

Lemon pound cake
As someone who loves lemon desserts, I couldn't pass up the lemon pound cake either. With a slice of lemon on top, it looked refreshing just to look at — and it was, while also being nicely sweet. One bite, a sip of coffee, then naturally on to the next bite, haha. Perfect for my lemon-loving palate.

Is Something About Coffee worth it as a Gangnam or Sinnonhyeon café?
Sitting down with sweet desserts and catching up with my sister after a while, time flew by. Something About Coffee has a wide variety of desserts, and each floor has a slightly different mood, making it fun to pick both your menu and your seat. Next time, I'd like to sit on the terrace when the weather's cooler and try the desserts I missed this time. And of course, I'll still save room for dessert, haha. If you're looking for a Gangnam Station café or a Sinnonhyeon Station café, check out Something About Coffee for a relaxing break with coffee and dessert!
