Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch
I was shopping at Starfield Suwon when a familiar name caught my eye. Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters started out in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, and I'd visited that original shop before and remembered the coffee being pretty good, so I stopped in again. The brand has since grown into several branches, and this Starfield Suwon location turned out to be a relatively recent addition.
☕ Where to find Jeong Jiyeong Coffee inside Starfield Suwon

With several cafés scattered around Starfield Suwon, it's easy to get them mixed up, but Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch sits right along the 2nd-floor corridor, so I found it quickly.

While the original Haenggung-dong shop has a vintage feel, having been converted from a house, this location is decked out in a sleek, modern style that fits right in with a big shopping mall.

Unlike other brands that often run takeout-only counters, Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters has actual seating tucked inside the store where you can sit and stay a while.

That said, the space isn't huge, and the popular seats are always taken, so I ended up settling at an open table nearby to enjoy my drink.
🛍️ The branded hats and merch worth a look

Among the cafés at Starfield Suwon, what makes Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch stand out is that it's not just about coffee — it also has a whole range of its own MD (merchandise) products.

The brand roasts its own beans in-house and both uses and sells them, so you can expect the kind of freshness you'd want from a proper roastery café.

If you're into cute little items, it's hard to just walk past this corner. I browsed around and ended up picking out a hat to buy.

The goods were overall well-made, and reasonably priced too, giving me the fun feeling of discovering a lesser-known brand.

I saw plenty of other customers who, like me, had come for coffee but ended up naturally lingering at the MD corner, checking out the plush toys and hats.

Next time I'd like to buy some beans too. I'm curious how close I could get to that in-store flavor if I used a home grinder.
🍰 Handmade desserts and snacks in the case

To really live up to the standard of a proper dessert spot, the snack lineup needs to be just as solid as the coffee's aroma and flavor.

The dessert case at Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch was packed with on-trend options — Basque cheesecake, fig cake, madeleines, and fruit sando (fruit sandwich).

I'd had my eye on the fruit sando for a while, but since I had a meal planned right after, I reluctantly saved it for next time.

Instead I picked a cookie, easy to eat on the go, and had it with my coffee. The desserts are all made in-house, and you could taste the care that went into them.
🥥 Coconut coffee: 1.11 million cups sold

To be honest, this visit wasn't really about coffee in general — it was about trying Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters' signature coconut coffee specifically.

Said to have sold over 1.11 million cups, the coconut coffee combines Jeong Jiyeong's signature espresso flavor with a gentle coconut sweetness.

I'm not usually someone who enjoys coconut on its own, but paired with espresso, the balance was surprisingly good and genuinely tasty.

Some signature drinks lean so hard into their gimmick that the coffee gets lost, but this one from Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters keeps the coffee at the center, balancing sweetness and bitterness steadily.

The bean's bitter edge held up the coconut's sweetness, making it feel like a more grown-up coconut drink, and the rich texture with a smooth finish left an impression too.

Stumbling across Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters again while wandering Starfield Suwon's cafés felt like it carried over the same warm familiarity I felt back in Haenggung-dong. Between the signature coconut coffee, the carefully made desserts, and the stylish MD goods, there wasn't a single letdown in the whole visit. It's a place I'd happily stop by again.
What I liked about this Starfield Suwon café
- Sleek, stylish interior
- Well-made, reasonably priced goods
- Fresh beans roasted in-house
- A varied, trendy lineup of handmade desserts
- A signature drink that balances espresso and coconut well
