Euljiro restaurant date with tomato risotto and craft beer: Pyu

In short

Pyu Euljiro is a dining restaurant in Jung-gu, Seoul, serving Western-style dishes in an anniversary-worthy setting. We tried mackerel pasta, garden tomato risotto, and Sarang Beombeok craft beer, while checking the parking and dinner drink rules. Verdict: Pyu Euljiro is a place I’d return to when I want both atmosphere and good food in Euljiro.

Parking and space at Pyu Euljiro

Pyu Euljiro is somewhere you can visit in Euljiro without parking stress. Search Tower 107 or Pyu in navigation before you head over. The first 60 minutes of parking are free, then it is ₩1,000 per 10 minutes. Parking discounts can be combined with those from other stores, up to a maximum of 2 hours, apparently. Maximum 999,999. Corkage is free for one bottle regardless of alcohol type, with a ₩20,000 charge per bottle after that, and tables can be used for up to 2 hours after entry. This Euljiro 3-ga favorite, PHEW, had group seating for up to 12 and is right in front of you when you enter the building.

I could check the menu on the standing sign, and since we had reserved, we were shown to our table quickly.

An interior suited to anniversaries and first dates

The interior at Pyu, a popular Euljiro 3-ga restaurant, had a classy mood perfect for an anniversary. The handsome guy and pretty girl at the next table were on a first date. Maybe that was why it also looked like a great Euljiro first-date spot.

There was also seating to the right of the counter from the entrance side—another reason this is a nice Euljiro date restaurant.

Pyu Euljiro had high chairs, plenty of room farther inside, and private rental was possible too, so it seemed like a decent choice for all kinds of receptions or family gatherings.

Pyu Euljiro menu and our order

There was a separate menu just for the ₩99,000 two-person share set.

There were two other menus: one for drinks and alcohol, and one for meals. Here is the Pyu Euljiro drinks and alcohol menu.

Here is the Pyu Euljiro meal menu. Everyone photographs the whole menu on one page and you can barely see it, so I split it up—but I still didn’t photograph it properly haha. The menu got cut off, oops~

  • Mackerel pasta ₩30,000
  • Garden tomato risotto ₩25,000
  • Sarang Beombeok ₩9,000

Sarang Beombeok, priced at ₩9,000, is apparently a world-champion craft beer with 32 awards from international beer competitions. My partner kept fiddling with the can because it was pretty. Hands off my beer!! You’ll warm it up.

The first taste was unmistakably foam.

First taste of Sarang Beombeok craft beer

It smelled a little like chocolate and was sweet. It was not overly fizzy and had a lightly bitter edge; the aroma entering through your nose meets the beer entering your mouth in your throat, then happily slides down your esophagus like a waterslide. A beer women might like. You order it and then say it tastes bad so you won’t drink it? What a win. It’s all mine.

Mackerel pasta and garden tomato risotto

The mackerel pasta at ₩30,000 and garden tomato risotto at ₩25,000 arrived together. There were no standard pickles or jalapeños. I thought about asking a staff member, but I would have had to raise my hand to call someone over—and it was delicious even without them, so I just ate it as is.

Mackerel pasta and garden tomato risotto

Garden tomato risotto, ₩25,000. Since it has cheese, I recommend taking your photos quickly and mixing it up. It was an easygoing tomato risotto, with a texture where the grains of rice seemed to dance around and a great tomato-and-cheese combination :b

Mackerel pasta, ₩30,000. The mackerel was mild and nutty, with no fishiness or bones at all, and so tender that it mashed completely with a spoon. Mix the noodles, sauce, and mackerel together before eating.

Sharing the mackerel pasta

I recommend breaking it up well when you break it up. If you don’t, it will all get snatched in one go. When I mixed the two dishes together, it felt like I had ordered three dishes. The mackerel risotto was pretty tasty in its own way.

Four Seasons ice cream and final thoughts

I debated whether to order something to cleanse the palate, then decided that if a staff member responded within three seconds of me raising my hand, I would order it. So I raised my hand, got a response, and ended up ordering the Four Seasons ice cream (sorbet), ₩9,000. It had ice cream made with different seasonal bases, house-made garnish, and watermelon beneath tomato basil. It was very sour. Maybe that is why it is sorbet? If you asked whether I would have it again, I think I’d answer, “If you buy it for me?”

At Pyu (PHEW) Euljiro, ordering alcohol is required at dinner. Overall, I was satisfied because each ingredient’s flavor came through clearly. I loved the uncommon mackerel pasta, the atmosphere, and the craft beer that was so tasty it seemed impossible not to order. It is somewhere I would like to return to when I want both ambiance and flavor in Euljiro.
