Ingye-dong Suwon BBQ lunch with neungi mushroom pesto: Jipbul Taebaek
In short
Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch is a Korean BBQ restaurant on Nahyeseok-gil street in Ingye-dong, Suwon, where the pork is seared over a straw fire first and staff finish grilling it at your table. The meal was one serving of straw-fired pork belly, two servings of straw-fired pork neck, and mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) to close, and the neungi mushroom pesto beat the black sesame salt as the best pairing. Between the gentle smoky flavor and the tableside grilling, Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch is an easy pick for a family meal or an Ingye-dong group dinner.

Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch, a well-known spot on Nahyeseok-gil street in Ingye-dong — famous for its straw-fired pork belly and neck.

I was looking for a good Korean BBQ place in Ingye-dong and ended up at Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch.

There are so many good restaurants near Nahyeseok-gil street that I had a hard time deciding, but I went for the straw-fired grilling spot that's received a Blue Ribbon award and been featured on the TV show Saengbangsong Today.

Bottom line first: what I loved most about this Ingye-dong Korean BBQ spot was the charcoal aroma in the meat and the fact that staff grill it for you.
What we ordered at Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch
That day we ordered one serving of straw-fired pork belly and two servings of straw-fired pork neck. I wanted to try both, so I ordered them together.

The meat comes pre-grilled over charcoal rather than starting raw at the table, and staff finish grilling it completely — highly recommend for a family meal or a group dinner.

What I loved most was the gentle smoky flavor in the meat. The smoke wasn't so strong that it overpowered the meat itself — it blended in just enough that I kept reaching for more.

The banchan tray: how many side dishes come with the meal
The banchan (side dishes) that came with the meat was also quite generous. There was a good variety, so it was nice to pair different ones with each bite of meat,
and if anything ran low, we could grab more from a self-serve corner. Eating just the meat can feel a bit plain, but with all the side dish variety, mixing and matching was part of the fun.

Straw-fired pork belly at Jipbul Taebaek
Jipbul Taebaek's straw-fired pork belly has a good fat-to-meat ratio, nicely savory, with the added aroma of straw and charcoal smoke.

It's juicy inside and carries that straw-fire smell — like meat grilled while camping, honestly, and even better than that.

It's tasty just dipped in salt, but pairing it with the various condiments brought out a different flavor altogether.

Straw-fired pork neck at Jipbul Taebaek
The straw-fired pork neck was leaner than the belly but surprisingly moist, which I appreciated.

Pork neck is my husband's and my favorite cut, but if it's cooked wrong it turns dry, so we always order it a bit nervously at restaurants,

but comparing the savory belly with the leaner neck made me glad we ordered both. Totally moist — exactly my style!!

Best pairing: pork with neungi mushroom pesto
Personally, the best combo of the day was...

The black sesame salt was good, but the combo I truly loved most was...

Meat + nutty mushroom pesto

This combo is genuinely delicious.

The aroma and umami of the nutty mushroom pesto went so well with the meat that it felt different from an ordinary BBQ meal. If you like dipping your grilled meat in different sauces and condiments, I'd definitely recommend this combo.

Finishing with mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup)
To finish the meal, we also ordered mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup). It was good — yum yum, thumbs up.
Honestly, I usually think of BBQ-restaurant naengmyeon as just a palate cleanser after the meat, but here the noodles were surprisingly good. The toppings looked carefully done too, don't you think?

The broth was clean and the overall flavor felt well put together, making it a fitting way to close out the meal.

The vibe, and how it works for an Ingye-dong group dinner
The interior of Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch was clean and tidy overall. Being a BBQ restaurant, it has a lively energy, but not so much that it was uncomfortable for eating. Since staff grill the meat for you, it seemed especially convenient for groups.

If you're looking for a Korean BBQ spot on Nahyeseok-gil street in Ingye-dong, or hunting for a good restaurant or dinner-gathering spot in Ingye-dong, this looked like a great choice — for friends or for a group dinner. I visited during the weekend opening hours, and at some point the place got quite crowded, which confirmed it's a popular BBQ spot in Ingye-dong.

Of everywhere I visited, Jipbul Taebaek Suwon Ingye Branch left the strongest impression for the taste of the meat itself. Grilling it over charcoal gave it a lovely gentle smokiness, and having staff grill it for us made the meal easy and relaxed.
The combo of nutty mushroom pesto and meat especially was so good I want to recommend it! If you're looking for a Korean BBQ spot on Nahyeseok-gil street in Ingye-dong, or a good restaurant or dinner-gathering spot in Ingye-dong, highly recommend.
