Booth-seat Korean BBQ date with water-aged hanwoo in Suwon: Yeongpo

In short

Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye Branch is a premium hanwoo (Korean beef) and handon (Korean pork) charcoal grill restaurant in Ingye-dong, Suwon, Gyeonggi. A couple booked ahead and shared an assorted hanwoo set for two plus doenjang sulbap (soybean-paste rice soup), grilling different cuts to different degrees, in a booth-style seat with a closing-door room option and 16 outdoor parking spots right outside. The water-aged hanwoo quality left both of them stunned — the best beef they've had.

Is parking convenient?

Parking right in front of the store is super roomy haha. We went at an off-peak time so it was even emptier, but there are 16 spots regardless ^^ Personally I love being able to park right in front of a restaurant like this 🥰 major points for the parking situation ♡

The entrance and first impression

The pale ivory exterior is really pretty.

The moment I walked in, a gorgeous chandelier by the entrance and a beautiful cow painting on the right instantly put me in a great mood ♡

Booth tables and a private room — good for groups too?

Even the basic tables are all booth-style, so you can eat with a real sense of privacy, and the soft beige-gray tables and booths gave off more of a refined hanjeongsik (Korean set-course) restaurant vibe than a barbecue joint — I loved it haha.

There are tables further inside too, but these aren't booth-style, so I imagine they're great for larger groups of guests.

Private group room with a closing door

There's also a room where you can fully close the door, which seems perfect for company dinners, important family gatherings, or business meals.

Restroom

The restroom is inside the restaurant, and I used it — it was very clean.

Ordering and menu

Ordering is done via kiosk ♡

Kiosk menu screen showing hanwoo single cuts and sets

The main event is of course hanwoo! There are well put-together sets in addition to single cuts, plus yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and yukhoe bibimbap on the side. For pork lovers, handon is also available — both samgyeopsal (pork belly) and mokssal (pork neck) 😀

The side dish spread

Since we'd booked ahead, the moment they confirmed our reservation we were led straight to our seat, and the neatly arranged spread — looking freshly set — put me in an even better mood ♡ Kimchi, pickled cucumber, bean sprout and scallion salad, plus salt, fresh wasabi, ssamjang, chili, garlic, and myeongi namul (wild garlic leaves) came as the basic side dishes. A pretty standard spread, but maybe because the dishware was so nice, the plating won me over too ♡

After a short wait they brought charcoal for the grill — even the grill and charcoal here are pretty hahaha 🥰 (seriously, the charcoal is way pinker than at other places...)

Assorted hanwoo for two and doenjang sulbap

We ordered the assorted hanwoo set for two. Why is this meat so pretty... the color is just gorgeous 😍 lol lol. I was pretty hungry when it arrived so it probably looked even prettier haha. The doenjang-stew-looking thing on the right in the first photo is doenjang sulbap, and it was seriously delicious haha.

Time to grill this pretty meat over pretty charcoal in a pretty grill... 🥺🩷

🤭❤️ So lovely.

A piece of hanwoo grilled to a different doneness

The first bite and I was like why is this SO good!!! 😍 My family are all meat killers so I've eaten plenty of beef around — beef omakase, meat-quality butcher restaurants, the whole thing — but it had been a while since my husband and I both looked at each other mid-bite like, wait, what?! haha

We grilled different cuts to different degrees of doneness, playing our own little two-person omakase game lol lol lol.

Doenjang sulbap with tofu and chili

The unphotogenic final state of the doenjang sulbap I couldn't manage to shoot properly lol lol. It had plenty of tofu and a spicy kick from the chili, and it paired perfectly with the beef as a meal.

After we finished eating and looked around, we noticed plenty of comedians and TV personalities had visited too 🤗

Sign explaining the water-aging process

The reason the meat is so good: water aging

There turned out to be a reason the meat here tastes this good... ☺️ Water aging is what produces that next-level rich, juicy flavor and savory sweetness 😦🩷 (so they say).

Honest overall review of Yeongpo Hwa-ro Ingye Branch

  • ✔️The clean atmosphere and interior put us in an even better mood.
  • ✔️Every side dish in the neat spread was delicious too.
  • ✔️The meat quality is real — genuinely the best beef I've had. ❤️ (Are they really allowed to sell it at this price? 🥺)
  • ✔️Service was very kind — when I said I was cold, they adjusted the AC right away and made us feel completely at ease. I usually dislike overly fussy service, but their quiet, attentive style was lovely ♥︎
  • ✔️The restaurant atmosphere is quiet and wonderful — everyone speaks in hushed tones ♡ (I hate noisy, chattery places the most...)
  • ✔️Definitely go here for an important occasion ♡
