I wanted good sashimi and a drink after work, so I headed to Rigo Susan's Jeonpo branch. There are so many great restaurants and bars in Jeonpo that I had trouble deciding where to go, but I settled on sashimi.

What was the first impression of the restaurant?
Walking in, the interior was bigger and cleaner than I expected, which made a great first impression. Since the space was so tidy, it felt like I'd come to a place that takes fresh sashimi seriously.

From live shrimp to various types of live-fish sashimi, this Jeonpo aged sashimi spot sells a wide variety of seafood.

How many side dishes come with the meal?
Here are the basic side dishes that come before the sashimi. Pretty generous, right? Haha. Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), spicy squid salad, California roll, soy-marinated salmon, and more filled the table, building anticipation before the sashimi even arrived. There was plenty to snack on, making it great as drinking food too.
We ordered the small aged sashimi platter.

The small aged sashimi platter — the thickness is different
The platter finally arrived! It came with a variety of seasonal sashimi like flounder, milchi, and sea bream. Instead of being thinly sliced, the fish was cut thick, so the texture was really satisfying.

Delicious food deserves a close-up look. Can you see how glossy it is? Busan means the sea, and the sea means sashimi — but it had been a while since I'd seen sashimi this neat and glossy, honestly got a little excited haha.

Taking a bite, I could feel the chewy texture along with the deep flavor unique to aged sashimi — it was delicious. I personally prefer sashimi with some thickness to it rather than sliced too thin, so getting to enjoy both texture and flavor here was the best.

If you're looking for aged sashimi in Jeonpo and you like thick cuts, this place should suit you well.

Making your own sushi with the included rice
It was also nice that sushi rice came included as a basic side. After a while of just dipping the sashimi in soy sauce or chogochujang (vinegared chili sauce), I started laying the sashimi on top of the rice to make my own sushi.

Eating the sashimi with rice gave a totally different feel, so I'd recommend making your own sushi partway through the meal too. Ordering just one sashimi platter still let us enjoy everything from side dishes to homemade sushi, which felt really satisfying!
Was it a good spot for a drink after work?
With sashimi this good, we ordered a drink to go with it. Coming here straight after work, enjoying good food and a drink, all the fatigue from the day melted away.
The restaurant was spacious and clean, making it comfortable to chat while eating, and the generous side dishes meant we never had to worry about running out of drinking snacks! Overall, the clean atmosphere, the abundant side dishes, and the thick aged sashimi all left me satisfied!
If you're looking for a bar or sashimi restaurant in Jeonpo to unwind after work with sashimi and a drink, this is a place worth visiting! Especially if you want to enjoy delicious aged sashimi alongside a variety of side dishes, save this as your go-to aged sashimi spot in Jeonpo haha.
