Dongseong-ro Daegu ramen at 8pm: gyoza for two at Ryusenso
In short
Ryusenso Dongseong-ro is a tonkotsu ramen restaurant near Gongpyeong Intersection in Jung-gu, Daegu. Arriving just after 8pm with a friend and sitting straight down at the counter with no wait, the writer shared Ryusenso Ramen, Karai Ryusenso Ramen at spice level 1, five pieces of Ryusenso gyoza (pan-fried dumplings) for 6,000 won and an extra noodle serving for 2,000 won. Adjustable broth strength and thick pork belly chashu make Ryusenso Dongseong-ro a solid late-night ramen stop in Daegu.

Ryusenso Dongseong-ro, a Daegu ramen restaurant. It's a rich-broth tonkotsu ramen spot that's grown into a nationwide chain.
Where is Ryusenso Dongseong-ro, and where do you park?

Ryusenso, a Dongseong-ro ramen restaurant near Gongpyeong Intersection! Since it's open late into the night, I visited just after 8pm!
🅿 There's no dedicated parking lot or parking support at Ryusenso, but the Gukchaebosang Movement public parking lot across the street means you can park cheaply!

Photos of the menu items — tonkotsu ramen, spicy tonkotsu ramen, oyster ramen, gyoza — are posted on the wall inside!
Inside Ryusenso Dongseong-ro: counter seats and group tables

Ryusenso often has a wait, so I really appreciated that they set up a comfortable waiting area indoors rather than outside!

We arrived past 8pm and just two counter seats were open, so we ate with no wait at all!!

The open kitchen let us watch everything being cooked, and it looked clean and hygienic, which I liked~

The place was packed so I couldn't get a shot earlier, but on our way out I took a photo — three 4-person tables with bench seating, set up so a group of 12 could dine together!!
The menu at Ryusenso Dongseong-ro

Here's the menu at Ryusenso, a Dongseong-ro ramen restaurant in Daegu~! Six main ramen options, five sides, extra noodle/topping add-ons, plus alcohol and drinks!
What two people ordered: Ryusenso Ramen, Karai Ryusenso Ramen, gyoza and extra noodles
- Ryusenso Ramen
- Karai Ryusenso Ramen
- Ryusenso gyoza
- Extra noodles

Everything we ordered came out at almost the same time! The extra noodles came separately, boiled fresh, right when we were about to finish the bowls!! I think that's because the bowls are all a fixed size, so there's not really room to add more noodles directly.

Ryusenso Ramen: the basic tonkotsu bowl
What I had was the most basic option, the Ryusenso Ramen — a classic tonkotsu! It has milky pork broth with chashu, egg, green onion, and wood ear mushroom!

The broth is really rich and delicious, and if you find it too salty, you can add more broth to adjust the concentration! I ate it as-is and it was neither too salty nor too bland — just right~

The noodles were cooked to a good firmness and coated well with the broth — delicious! You could skip a trip to Japan for tonkotsu ramen and still be satisfied here!

Besides the noodles, there's a half soft-boiled egg, and the chashu was a bit unusual — not thin and wide, but thick-cut pork belly. Doesn't seem like they're using mass-produced Japanese-market chashu!

How spicy is Karai Ryusenso Ramen at level 1?
My companion had the Karai Ryusenso Ramen! It's the regular tonkotsu ramen with an added spicy sauce, adjustable from level 1 to 3!

Level 1 is about as spicy as Shin Ramyun, but the heat actually hits harder than Shin Ramyun! If you find the plain tonkotsu ramen a bit rich, I'd recommend the spicy Karai Ryusenso Ramen too! You feel the heat, but it's not overwhelming — level 1 is very manageable!

Later, when the extra noodles came, I wanted to eat them spicy, so I put them all in the spicy bowl first and then we split it — delicious haha

Ryusenso gyoza: 5 pieces for 6,000 won
For a side, we ordered the Ryusenso gyoza (pan-fried dumplings) — one side was cooked crispy while the other was soft and tender! Five pieces for ₩6,000!
The moment you bite in, the juices burst out with a moist texture — quite different from regular fried dumplings, and it went really well with the ramen?? Worth considering if you're adding a side!

Extra noodles for 2,000 won: how much do you get?
Just as we were finishing up, the extra noodles arrived! For ₩2,000, it's a pretty generous amount. They came freshly boiled, and we were told to add them in right away!

Once added to the broth, this was the amount — I'd guess about 0.7 servings — but the two of us split it and finished it off happily.
Is Ryusenso Dongseong-ro worth a late-night visit?
Ryusenso Dongseong-ro, a Daegu ramen restaurant, is a great spot to grab a solo meal for lunch or dinner! It's already a well-known chain across the country, so I'd definitely recommend stopping by when you want a simple meal in Dongseong-ro!!
