In short

Uldong Bossam is a bossam (boiled pork wrap) restaurant on Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil in Jung-gu, Daegu, right next to the Dongin government building. Eating alone after work, the writer ordered the bossam set meal with extra meat plus a minari (water dropwort) pancake for 9,000 won; the extra-meat version brings pork belly bossam and pork jowl (gabrisal) with doenjang stew and side dishes, making a full one-person spread. Today I was craving bossam, so I rushed straight to Uldong Bossam after work — it's always packed for both lunch and dinner.

Where is Uldong Bossam, and what are its hours?

Uldong Bossam is on the 1st floor of 279 Gyeongsanggamyeong-gil, Jung-gu, Daegu, right next to the Dongin government building. Hours are 11:00–23:00, with a break time from 3pm to 4:30pm, and delivery and takeout are also available.

It's right next to the government building, so it's no secret that it's a well-known favorite among civil servants.

From an easy bossam set meal to bossam à la carte perfect with drinks, to hot pots — plus potato pancake and minari pancake too. If you're dining solo, I'd recommend the great-value bossam set.

I wanted to eat hearty, so I ordered the bossam set (extra meat) along with a fragrant minari pancake.

What comes with the bossam set meal (extra meat)?

A spread so neat it made me gasp! It wasn't just bossam — it came with doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) and several side dishes, making it really satisfying.

Side dishes served with the bossam set
Doenjang stew packed with ingredients

This is a bossam place, but the side dishes and doenjang stew are both delicious too. The stew is packed with ingredients, exactly the style you'd get at a good meat restaurant. Spooning it up between bites of bossam made the rice go down so easily . . the seasoning wasn't too strong or salty, with a savory, subtly sweet flavor.

The main event! A plate piled high with bossam . . ♥ the meat was sliced neither too thin nor too thick, and the ratio of lean meat to fat was just right.

Pork belly bossam and pork jowl, two cuts side by side

The extra-meat set comes with pork jowl (gabrisal) added on top of the pork belly bossam! The portion is generous and you get to try two different cuts together, so I'd definitely recommend the extra-meat bossam set.

A piece of bossam topped with radish kimchi and minari

Alright, first bite time. Pairing it with sweet radish kimchi and fragrant minari (water celery) meant I could eat all the way through without feeling greasy or sick of it.

Sesame-soy sauce ground fresh in a mortar

There's also a little mortar with sesame seeds that you grind yourself and pour soy sauce over — a unique sauce as well.

This sauce adds a salty, nutty flavor too, and it's a real treat. The combo with the soy-onion sauce is the best.

The 9,000-won minari pancake: crisp outside, soft inside

Honestly, this size for 9,000 won makes no sense. I wondered if they'd dropped a digit from the front . . it's great to share, and would be perfect both as a meal and as a drinking snack. The aroma and texture of the minari really came through, and I was glad I ordered it as a side. (I saw a lot of people ordering the potato pancake as a side too.)

Whoa, you can tell how crispy it is just from the photo, right? Not being too thick actually worked in its favor. Minari's distinctive fragrance + crunchy texture = ♥ You can't even tell just how much minari is packed in there.

There are cute little shrimp tucked in here and there too.

Eating the moist bossam together with the minari pancake was a great combo too. Just dip it in the soy sauce that comes with it.

I meant to eat in moderation, but before I knew it, everything was gone.

Plum tea served after the meal

A nice touch from the owner — plum tea was ready, so I finished off with a cup of plum tea before heading out.

One-line verdict on Uldong Bossam

Found my bossam spot! A neat one-person spread plus a fragrant minari pancake made for a hearty, satisfying meal at Uldong Bossam — saving this as a place to come back to.

I think I'll be a regular here. If you're looking for a good Korean restaurant in Dongin-dong, Daegu, a great-value spot in Gyodong, a favorite near Dongin-dong city hall, or a solo dining spot in downtown Daegu, highly recommend ❤︎
