2nd-floor window seats and milk tea at Eojil In, a Wangsimni café

In short

Eojil In is a two-floor dessert café right in front of Wangsimni Station Exit 6 in Seongdong, Seoul. Ordering happens on the first floor, and from a second-floor window seat the writer had milk tea, matcha Basque cheesecake, a lemon madeleine, an Earl Grey madeleine and a salted chocolate financier — every baked good was good enough to bring the writer back to work the next day. Outlets are limited at Eojil In, so the café suits conversation, reading and dessert more than laptop work.

What kind of Wangsimni café is Eojil In?

Eojil In is a newly opened two-floor dessert café right in front of Wangsimni Station. Picture a Wangsimni café made for quiet reflection — a book in hand, a sunlit seat, tea and dessert.

Let me introduce the prettiest dessert café I've found in Wangsimni personally. It's a place called 'Eojil In,' which seems to have opened quite recently.

The desserts were varied, the gift packages were pretty, and the space itself was spacious with a great mood — good for a date course or for studying.

How to walk to Eojil In from Wangsimni Station, and where to park

Eojil In is located at 1-26 Haengdang-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, right in front of Wangsimni Station Exit 6. If you're at Wangsimni Station for a movie or shopping, it's the perfect spot to duck out to. (There aren't really any pretty cafés inside the station itself, ha.)

Pretty convenient, right? Parking is available for 2 cars on the 1st floor, and if needed you can also park at the E-mart right in front — so if you're worried about parking at Eojil In, no need to be!

Seating and atmosphere on both floors — can you use a laptop at Eojil In?

Eojil In is made up of a 1st and 2nd floor, with warm wooden interiors and neat furniture that's easy on the eyes. It's a quiet café good for studying or reading.

That said, it's not great for laptop work! Outlets aren't easily accessible, so I'd recommend it more as a place to actually chat with a friend, read a book, or have dessert.

There's also more seating variety than I expected, and both floors are spacious with plenty of group seating, so it's good for going with several people too. Nice atmosphere, right? I ordered on the 1st floor and settled in on the 2nd. All the staff were friendly.

Takeout is available too — if you order an Americano or latte to go, they give you a whopping ₩2,000 discount, which is a nice deal for takeout customers.

Apparently there's also a smaller 'Eojil In' nearby that sells salt bread jambon-beurre baguette sandwiches! I'll have to go try the salt bread next time.

Eojil In's dessert lineup: madeleines, financiers and Basque cheesecake

Eojil In's display case has madeleines, financiers, egg tarts, and Basque cheesecake. And not just the signature Basque cheesecake — they also have a matcha Basque cheesecake!

And the freshly baked desserts look so pretty, and there are so many varieties...

Everything is divided up like this, and it's gorgeous just to look at. The Basque cheesecake slices are bigger than expected, and since it's near a university campus, the prices felt reasonable too — Hanyang University students are lucky! Plus they even have Dojima roll cake, ugh, I'll have to try that next time. It looked packed with cream..!

The 8-piece financier gift set at Eojil In

And here's the good part... isn't this packaging box just so lovely, haha. Receiving an 8-piece financier gift set like this from a place like this would feel really nice.

All the interior furniture has a luxurious, modern design that's comfortable just to look at! And maybe because it's summer, the lush green window view goes really well with the café.

How can anyone resist this visual... I now understand why this place is famous as a Basque cheesecake spot.

How do Eojil In's milk tea and matcha Basque cheesecake taste?

At Eojil In I ordered a cool, sweet milk tea, a financier and madeleine, and a matcha Basque cheesecake. Personally, Basque cheesecake tends to be lower in sugar than other cakes, which makes it one of my favorites even for dieters!

Moist + rich + soft. This is genuinely delicious. They really know how to make Basque cheesecake here!!!! So good,,,, I loved the subtle matcha aroma.

Financiers and madeleines at Eojil In

Lemon madeleine, Earl Grey madeleine and salted chocolate financier

Financiers and madeleines. Personally I think a financier should be crisp outside and chewy inside, and a madeleine shouldn't be dry. But here, all the baked goods are delicious.

I don't usually love madeleines that much, but I personally enjoyed the lemon madeleine so much. It melted in my mouth!!!!!!!!!! The Earl Grey madeleine, coated thickly in chocolate on top, and the salted chocolate financier were also sweet enough for a good sugar fix. If you're really looking for a place to buy dessert gifts near Wangsimni Station, this is definitely it.

Is Eojil In worth going back to?

With mood, price, taste, and quality all covered, this Wangsimni café dessert spot — a Hanyang University café cake spot, a Wangsimni Station café bakery — Eojil In comes with a strong recommendation from me, haha.

++ It was so good I went back to work there again the very next day!!!!!! It was just too delicious,,,, Especially this Earl Grey madeleine and the chocolate madeleine — the chocolate is thick and really tasty, so I highly recommend ordering those without fail.
