Weekends are for eating out, right? Haha. Today my husband and I headed out for lunch again. 😊 Our son went off to meet a friend, so it ended up being just the two of us on a drive together — our first in a while.
It felt like a waste to just drive around, so we decided to stop by Sejong Lake Park for a walk and grab pho for lunch. But whenever we come to Sejong Lake Park, there's a place we naturally end up at — Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch.

Actually, Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch is a place my husband and I have been going to for quite a long time. Years ago, we came to walk around Sejong Lake Park with our kid and, while debating where to eat lunch, got drawn in by a sign advertising great pho.

That brought back memories of dating my husband, when we used to eat a ton of pho at a place in Cheongju that's now closed. Haha. Ever since then, whenever we come to the lake park, lunch naturally means Mekong Thai. Because it's delicious! 😋
The store caught my eye more than usual today

It's always a busy spot, so every time we've come, we've been too focused on eating to look around. Honestly, when we came with our kid, we had to eat quickly and get up. Haha. So I never had the chance to slowly check out the store or take photos, but today I made a point of looking around.
We'd visited a few months ago too, but today the store felt a bit brighter to me. So I asked my husband, "Did they change something here?" and he said, "Looks the same to me."
My husband said it's the same, but to me the wood-toned interior looked really pretty today.

I loved the bright atmosphere coming in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, and with the pretty lighting added in, the store felt cozier and cleaner than I expected.
What should we eat today?

After a good while deliberating over the menu, we ordered three things today: the signature beef pho, spicy seafood pad thai because I wanted something spicy, and goi as a side!

I'm quite a fan of Vietnamese food in general. It feels clean and somehow like it won't make you gain weight... haha, though of course eating a lot of it would be the same as anything else. 😂 Still, on days I want to eat something clean, Vietnamese food is often what comes to mind.
The goi came out first when we were starving

The first dish to arrive after we ordered was the goi. We were hungry, and it came out so quickly — what a relief! Haha.
Goi cuon is a Vietnamese dish made by wrapping fresh vegetables, shrimp, meat, and bun (rice vermicelli) in rice paper and dipping it in sauce. You can enjoy the fresh, crisp texture of raw vegetables served cold, making it a light appetizer that's great for perking up your appetite before a meal.
It felt similar to Vietnamese summer rolls — not a huge portion, but clean and light, perfect for getting the appetite going.

- There wasn't any meat — imitation crab was used instead.
I dipped mine in peanut sauce, and the nutty flavor made it even better. After eating one, I wanted another... but since more food was coming, I held back. Haha.
My husband's order: beef pho

My husband's beef pho arrived. We love pho so much that even last weekend, on a rainy day, we ordered pho delivery to eat at home. Today's pho was great too — an excellent choice as always.
Taking a sip of the hot broth, it felt like a hangover cure even though I hadn't had a drop of alcohol. Haha. Somehow it just warmed me up inside. The broth was clear and refreshing, and even though I'm not usually a big broth person, I kept wanting to taste more of it.

The toppings were generous too. The sliced onions were fresh, and there was finely chopped green onion on top. The broth had plenty of bean sprouts, and the portion of noodles was quite large. It was my husband's dish, but I kept sneaking bites of both the broth and the noodles.
Last to arrive: spicy seafood pad thai
The last dish to come out, the spicy seafood pad thai, was my order.

I usually like thick noodles, and these didn't disappoint — plus there was plenty of seafood in it, which I loved. Best of all, it had just the right amount of spice for my taste! Not overwhelmingly hot, just spicy enough to make you crave more.
A bite of the spicy seafood pad thai, then a sip of the pho broth next to it when it got too spicy. Such a good combo.
Going back and forth between the three dishes, before we knew it, the food was slowly disappearing.
Never disappointing, no matter how many times we come
Thinking back, we've visited Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch so many times, and I don't think we've ever left disappointed.

From our first visit years ago to now, this is the place that naturally comes to mind whenever we're out walking at Sejong Lake Park. Today too, we had a satisfying meal with generous toppings, plenty of portions, and great flavor. If you love pho like we do, this is a great stop for a meal after a walk.

If you'd like to take a walk around Sejong Lake Park and enjoy some delicious Vietnamese food, give Mekong Thai Sejong Lake Park Branch a try. You might find yourself coming back again and again, just like us. 😊 A Sejong Lake Park favorite that never disappoints — Mekong Thai! Another delicious meal today.
