While looking for somewhere near Jamsil to grab a simple solo dinner, I found a sandwich shop that looked like great value. I'm more of a bread person than a rice person, and after seeing good reviews about the sandwich-and-soup set, I decided to check it out.

Today's Jamsil sandwich spot, Town Sandwich, is located in the Jamsil The Sharp Star Park retail complex. It's about 600m from Exit 11 of Jamsil Station, roughly a 7-minute walk.

True to its reputation as a famous Jamsil sandwich shop, they say different bread makes for a different sandwich — and that's exactly right, which got me excited even before eating.

I was disappointed I couldn't have coffee since it was dinnertime, but hearing they're good at coffee too made me curious about the taste.

The interior is clean and cozy, with about 3-4 tables for two and plenty of seats for solo diners — perfect for those eating alone. I visited during dinnertime and saw a lot of delivery riders coming in, which made me think this place is also famous for delivery.

Menu and set discount: Town Sandwich All-in-One Set, 14,000 won

Since this is primarily a sandwich café, the main menu features sandwiches and coffee drinks. Nicely, there's a set menu where ordering sandwich, soup, and drink together saves you ₩2,000. I love eating bread with soup, so while deciding which sandwich to get for the set, I ordered the Town Sandwich All-in-One Set (₩14,000), which has the shop's name in it. When I'm not sure what to order at a restaurant, going with the menu item that shares the shop's name is usually a safe bet.

For the soup to go with the sandwich, I chose cream soup, and for the drink, iced chamomile tea. I wanted coffee but went with chamomile because of caffeine concerns, sigh.

The Town Sandwich cut into thirds: how was the baguette?

You can choose how you want the sandwich cut, and since it's a baguette, I figured cutting it into thirds would be best, so that's what I ordered. The first thing that surprised me when I saw the sandwich was how generously the ingredients were packed in. It was a classic sandwich with tomato, lettuce, ham, and two kinds of cheese, and every ingredient was fresh.

I was a bit worried the baguette bread might be too hard, but surprisingly it was soft and chewy and delicious — nothing like I expected. It reminded me of eating ekmek bread in Turkey. It reminded me that the saying "good bread makes a good sandwich" isn't just talk.

When you order the soup, it comes with bread like this. I thought the owner really knew what they were doing.

The iced chamomile tea I ordered as my drink also came in a much bigger portion than what I've had elsewhere, which was satisfying.

Honestly, since this is known as a Jamsil sandwich specialty shop, I didn't expect much from the soup, but it was surprisingly delicious. It's rich with just the right amount of saltiness — optimized for dipping bread. As someone who loves dipping bread in soup, I could tell the owner has real cooking sense. The seasoning on the soup is really perfect for bread dipping.

Is the Town Sandwich all-in-one set worth it for a solo dinner in Jamsil?

As you'd expect from a sandwich shop with good bread, the sandwich itself had fresh, tasty ingredients, but if you come to Town Sandwich, I'd strongly recommend getting a set that includes the soup. I assumed only the sandwiches would be good since it's a sandwich specialty shop, but the pairing with the soup is outstanding.
