Busan Station milmyeon restaurant with a hot broth finish: Yeongdong

In short

Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch is a milmyeon (cold wheat noodle) and pork soup restaurant about 300 meters from Exit 6 of Busan Station in Dong-gu, Busan. On the last day of a Busan trip, around noon before a KTX departure, the order was a small bibim milmyeon for 8,000 won, suyuk baekban (boiled pork set) for 13,000 won, 10 dumplings for 7,000 won and a bottle of Good Day soju for 5,000 won, totalling 33,000 won. It was a first-ever milmyeon, and the two things worth repeating at Yeongdong are wrapping the spicy noodles in a dumpling and pouring warm broth over what is left in the bowl.

Bibim milmyeon and dumpling table setting at Yeongdong Busan Station Branch

On the last day of my Busan trip, I tried milmyeon (cold wheat noodles) for the very first time..!

After I'd almost finished my bibim milmyeon (mixed spicy noodles), I poured warm broth over the leftover noodles, and it turned into a completely different dish from what I'd just been eating. Then I topped it with a dumpling and ate it alongside the bibim milmyeon too — that combination was genuinely the best part.

Since I was about to catch the KTX, going far wasn't really an option, so I went to Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch, right next to Busan Station. I visited around noon and ordered bibim milmyeon, suyuk baekban, dumplings, and even a bottle of Good Day soju..! The food came out fast too, making it the perfect last meal of my Busan trip.

  • Right next to Busan Station, so it's convenient to eat before catching a train.
  • My personal favorite: wrapping bibim milmyeon in a dumpling.
  • Definitely try pouring warm broth over your leftover bibim milmyeon too!

Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch is about 300 meters from Exit 6 of Busan Station, right beside the train station. I went in while searching for a milmyeon spot near Busan Station, and it turned out to be a perfect fit for the last day of my Busan trip.

Having to drag heavy luggage or a suitcase somewhere far and then worry about train timing is the most annoying thing possible,,,

Inside Yeongdong Milmyeon: seating and how fast the food arrives

Maybe because it was lunchtime, the restaurant was packed with customers. Still, the interior was spacious with plenty of regular tables, plus a separate window-side bar seating for solo diners. Every table had a tablet, so you could order right where you sat.

And what I especially appreciated that day was the speed of the food coming out!!! When you're eating before catching a train, taste matters, but 'when does it arrive' matters a ton too — and everything came out quickly without a long wait after ordering.

Bibim milmyeon, 8,000 won: how a first milmyeon tasted

Small bibim milmyeon piled high with sauce

Small bibim milmyeon: ₩8,000

When it first arrived, there was a mountain of red sauce piled on top of the noodles, along with meat and a boiled egg. I cut it a bit with scissors, then flipped and mixed it thoroughly, making sure to reach the noodles at the bottom.

Since it was my first time trying milmyeon, I assumed it would feel similar to naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), but it turned out to be different. The noodles weren't the type that snaps too chewily — they glided down smoothly, leaving a chewiness at the finish. The sauce clings richly to the noodles, and it's not just spicy — it has tanginess, heat, and a hint of sweetness all together, so my chopsticks kept reaching for more without me even realizing it.

I especially liked that the sauce wasn't too heavy or dominated by a strong gochujang (red chili paste) taste. Eating a piece of meat together with the noodles brought in a clean meaty flavor that also toned down the sauce a bit.

I'd gone looking for a milmyeon place near Busan Station, and trying my first milmyeon here was a win. Now I finally understand why milmyeon is such a Busan thing.

Dumplings, 10 for 7,000 won: wrapping bibim milmyeon in a dumpling

The dumplings were 10 pieces for ₩7,000. I'd originally just ordered them as a side, but this ended up being the combo I remember most from the day.

A plate of 10 dumplings

Put a dumpling on a spoon, roll up some bibim milmyeon around it, and — one big bite.

Inside the soft dumpling wrapper is a moist filling, immediately followed by the tangy-spicy bibim sauce and chewy noodles. The plainness of eating just a dumpling and the punchiness of eating just bibim milmyeon come together perfectly in one bite.

A bite of dumpling and bibim milmyeon on a spoon

I wasn't just curious and trying it once — after that, I kept eating it this way the whole time,,, it was shockingly good.

If you eat bibim milmyeon continuously, the sauce flavor can start to feel too strong, but eating it with dumplings in between made it taste delicious again. If I come back and order bibim milmyeon, I'll definitely order dumplings with it...🥹

What comes with the 13,000-won suyuk baekban

Suyuk baekban with boiled pork and broth served separately

Suyuk baekban: ₩13,000. From the name alone, I assumed it would come with boiled pork plus a meat-based soup, but here, it's a plate of boiled pork and a hot broth served separately.

The boiled pork was sliced into fairly thick pieces, with a good balance of lean meat and fat.

A thick slice of boiled pork

The leaner parts were clean-tasting with a nice bite, while the fattier parts were much softer and more savory. I personally preferred the pieces with a bit of fat on them. It's good dipped lightly in soy sauce, and also pairs well topped with chives or garlic.

Good Day soju ordered alongside the boiled pork

I also ordered a bottle of Good Day soju — a piece of boiled pork followed by a shot of soju really hit that 'last day of the Busan trip' feeling.

The broth that came with it was a pale, hot dwaeji gukbap (pork soup) broth. I tried it plain at first, and instead of a strong pork smell, what came through first was a savory, nutty flavor.

Dwaeji gukbap broth with chives and salted shrimp added

I added a generous handful of the chives served on the side, plus some salted shrimp to taste. The chives wilted slightly in the hot broth and released their distinct aroma, and taking a spoonful of the soup while eating milmyeon changed the temperature in my mouth instantly.

A bite of bibim milmyeon, a piece of boiled pork, hot broth, a sip of Good Day. I'd ordered several menu items, but none of the flavors overlapped, so it was fun switching between them.

Pouring warm broth over the leftover bibim milmyeon

And what I unexpectedly kept reaching for was the warm broth served at the table.

It comes in a gold-colored kettle, and pouring it into a paper cup, it has a savory, salty seasoning. Taking a sip in between bites of cold milmyeon warms up your mouth and resets the spicy sauce flavor.

But then, when I'd almost finished my bibim milmyeon, I got curious and poured this broth over the leftover noodles.

It was delicious..

Soupy noodles made by pouring broth over leftover bibim milmyeon

The red sauce left in the bowl dissolves into the warm broth, and the thick bibim milmyeon instantly transforms into a soupy noodle dish. The tangy-spicy sauce flavor that used to hit hard becomes much smoother, and with the broth's salty flavor added in, it turns into something like a slightly spicy soup.

Pouring the broth from the start would be a waste — it's perfect to add once you've eaten enough of the bibim milmyeon and have just the last two or three bites of noodles left. Mixed once, soupy once. Ordering one bowl and eating it two different ways meant I never got tired of it until the last bite.

Is Yeongdong Milmyeon a good meal before a KTX train?

On the last day of a trip, logistics inevitably matter more than chasing the best restaurant.

You want to eat something good, but you don't want to travel far and risk missing your train, and just settling for something mediocre at the station feels like a waste too. Yeongdong Milmyeon & Dwaeji Gukbap Busan Station Branch was exactly the right spot for that moment. It's right next to Busan Station, the food came out fast, and I could eat milmyeon, boiled pork, and dwaeji gukbap broth all in one place.

The last meal of the trip at the restaurant beside Busan Station

Above all, my first milmyeon was delicious. Next time I visit Busan, I'm thinking of trying mul milmyeon (milmyeon in cold broth) too. But I'll definitely order the dumplings again. The taste of bibim milmyeon topped with a dumpling is still on my mind even as I write this..!

Who will like Yeongdong Milmyeon

  • Anyone looking for a quick meal at Busan Station before catching a KTX
  • Travelers in Busan who want to try both milmyeon and dwaeji gukbap
  • Anyone looking for a solo-dining or lunch spot near Busan Station

Who might want a different Busan Station restaurant

  • Those who care about the atmosphere of an old, established restaurant
  • If you're the type who'd rather travel further from Busan Station to visit one famous flagship location, your priorities may differ.

What to order on a second visit

  • Bibim milmyeon + dumplings — ordering exactly the same again.
  • Next time, I'd like to add mul milmyeon too and try both.
