Donpeyaki, okonomiyaki and yakisoba set in Mullae: Jojo Mullae Branch
In short
Jojo Mullae Branch is a Japanese teppanyaki restaurant in an alley near Mullae Station in Yeongdeungpo, Seoul. The writer ordered the signature 2-person set (₩39,000) featuring okonomiyaki, karai yakisoba, and donpeyaki, all grilled tableside on the teppan by staff, with donpeyaki's silky egg being the first-time favorite. Kept warm on the grill until the last bite, it's a solid pick for a date or a casual drink outing.

Jojo, tucked into a Mullae alley full of character
Walking into the alleys near Mullae Station, you get that distinctly hip, vintage vibe, and Jojo is right in the middle of it. It's an easy walk from the station, making it a good spot for dinner plans or a date. There are so many good restaurants in the alley that you could easily head to a nearby café or bar after eating at Jojo!

Open kitchen and spacious interior
The first thing that caught my eye inside was the fully open kitchen! You could clearly see the ingredient prep and cooking from your seat, which gave me a lot of confidence in their cleanliness and quality. The interior was also more spacious than I expected, with tables far enough apart to feel comfortable. It seemed like a great place for a proper meal or as a second stop with drinks alongside the teppanyaki.

Menu and ordering — the signature 2-person set
Jojo has a wide range of Japanese teppanyaki dishes like monjayaki, okonomiyaki, yakisoba, and donpeyaki. After debating what to order, we went with the signature 2-person set so we could try several dishes at once!

It's a lineup that lets two people eat their fill of three dishes, so the price felt reasonable.

There's a large teppan grill right at the table, and the staff grill each dish for you one by one! Okonomiyaki takes a bit longer to cook through, so they put that on the grill first, and it was fun watching the cooking process up close while we waited. It was fascinating watching them layer the ingredients and shape it, I couldn't stop watching haha.

The fun of eating straight off the grill
The finished dishes were placed on the teppan in front of us, so we could eat warm food until the very last bite. Since the staff handled the grilling and timing for us, we just got to relax and chat while we waited, which was great. It felt a little like being at an actual teppanyaki place in Japan, and with the fun of watching the process too, I'd totally recommend it as a date spot!

Donpeyaki (Japanese omelette), first time trying it and my favorite
The first thing to finish cooking was the donpeyaki. Honestly, this was my first time trying it, and I was surprised how good it was the moment I took a bite! The egg was so soft and fluffy I wondered if this was some kind of Japanese-style egg roll. The filling and sauce blended together into a savory-sweet flavor that kept pulling me back for more. Surprisingly, it was the dish I fell for first out of the whole signature set haha.

How spicy is the karai yakisoba, really?
Next up was the karai yakisoba! The egg on top looked so cute I took a ton of photos before eating. Popping the yolk and mixing it all through the noodles and seasoning was so, so good, ugh. Despite the name karai (spicy), it wasn't intensely fiery, just mildly spicy in a way that kept you coming back for more. The chewy noodles paired nicely with the crunchy vegetables!
I also liked that the yakisoba stayed on the teppan, bowl and all, so it stayed hot throughout. Though at one point I randomly worried, wait, isn't the bowl going to crack with the teppan this hot...? haha, a totally pointless worry. Of course, it was fine the whole way through, no issues. Since the noodles never went cold, even the last bite tasted great.

Okonomiyaki finished, flag and all
After a bit of a wait, the main event, the okonomiyaki, was finally ready! They drizzled the sauce and mayo on top so nicely and even stuck a little Jojo flag in it, the visual was so cute. It was grilled nice and thick, slightly golden on the outside and moist inside. It was packed with cabbage, so even though it's clearly a sauce-heavy teppan dish, I somehow felt like I was getting my vegetables in too haha.

The staff cut it into easy-to-eat pieces, and once I tried it on my small plate, it was seriously hot and delicious! The soft interior kept the cabbage's texture intact, and the sweet-savory sauce matched perfectly. Even after eating donpeyaki and yakisoba, it was wild how much room I still had for the okonomiyaki hahaha. All three dishes tasted so different that I never got tired of eating.

My honest overall review
The signature 2-person set seems perfect for anyone visiting Jojo for the first time and unsure what to order. The donpeyaki had impossibly soft egg, the karai yakisoba had a nicely spicy sauce and chewy noodles, and the okonomiyaki had a wonderfully moist texture packed with cabbage.
Being able to watch the cooking process thanks to the open kitchen, and having staff grill everything tableside until it's done, seems to be Jojo's own special charm! Having the food stay on the teppan so it stays warm the whole time was also really satisfying.
If you want to enjoy Japanese-style okonomiyaki or teppanyaki in Mullae, I'd totally recommend checking out Jojo Mullae Branch!! It's great for a date, and it also seems like a nice atmosphere for a casual drink with friends! Next time I want to come back and try the monjayaki too haha.
