Gwangalli pizza restaurant with no-surcharge half-and-half: Extra Mile
In short
Extra Mile is a pizza and pasta restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, near Gwangalli Beach and Gwangan Station. For a first meal in Busan, I tried a Hot Honey Pepperoni and Birria Taco half-and-half pizza and bisque cream pasta for 26,000 won and 18,000 won. Verdict: Extra Mile is a relaxed Gwangalli lunch spot I would happily revisit.

It had been a while since my last trip to Busan, so I chose my first meal rather carefully. I was arriving close to lunchtime and wanted delicious pizza and pasta that felt a bit like brunch, and the place I found while searching was Extra Mile.

Extra Mile location and parking
Extra Mile is on the first floor at 11 Suyeong-ro 554beonga-gil, Suyeong-gu, Busan. I came by car, parked at Gwangalli Beach Parking Lot, and walked over; it took about five minutes.
There is no parking at the restaurant itself, so if you are driving, it would be best to check nearby parking lots in advance. I heard Boseong Private Parking Lot is close by. It also looked easy enough to visit by public transit, as it is about a three- to four-minute walk from Exit 5 of Gwangan Station. It is fairly close to Gwangalli Beach too, so it was nice to head toward the sea after eating.
A cozy atmosphere that feels like a converted house
It is a restaurant with the cozy atmosphere of a converted house, so I felt comfortable as soon as I walked in.

More than anything, the moment I opened the door, the delicious smell hit me. I really just wanted to sit down and eat right away.

The tables had paper placemats printed with drawings of Gwangalli and pasta, with crayons set out beside them. I loved that thoughtful touch that made even the waiting time fun, haha.

The half-and-half pizza and bisque cream pasta we ordered
We ordered a half-and-half pizza and bisque cream pasta. We chose Hot Honey Pepperoni and Birria Taco pizza for the half-and-half, which was ₩26,000, and the bisque cream pasta was ₩18,000.

What I especially liked was that you can choose two flavors when ordering a half-and-half pizza without paying an additional charge.
There were so many pizza choices that it was hard to pick just one, so being able to have half-and-half was really great.

I also spent quite a while debating the pasta. I do not usually order bisque pasta unless a place smells unmistakably delicious, because it is an easy menu item to get wrong, haha. But that day, the smell that greeted me as soon as I came in gave me a feeling, so I ordered it right away, haha.
Half-and-half pizza, from hot honey to taco
First, the Hot Honey Pepperoni pizza was so good: spicy pepperoni and a lightly sweet hot honey sauce came together beautifully. With mascarpone, ricotta, and pickled peppers too, it was not simply sweet; the sweet-and-spicy balance was excellent.

The dough was impressive too. Extra Mile says it uses Caputo flour and a biga pre-fermentation method, then cold-ferments the dough for 48 hours. Maybe that is why it was crisp outside and chewy inside. It also became nuttier the more I chewed, making the pizza itself delicious.
And then there was the Birria Taco pizza! I do not like cilantro, so at first I asked for it to be left off. But a staff member prepared it separately and suggested I try it with the pizza. I was genuinely surprised when I did.
Even as someone who hates cilantro, I thought it worked so well, haha. The crunchy nachos on top added another fun texture, and it really felt like a taco made into a pizza.

Bisque cream pasta with a rich sauce
The bisque cream pasta comes with a rich red shrimp bisque sauce, Reggiano cheese, gamtae (seaweed), and parsley. One bite in, the sauce was so thick and rich that it was incredibly good. The ocean scent of the gamtae and the parsley did not overwhelm it, and they made the cream sauce taste even deeper.
And the shrimp quality was really good. There were three plump shrimp, and every one was so delicious that I almost did not want to eat them, haha. They were springy and paired well with the sauce, so I enjoyed the dish right to the end.
I was much more satisfied than I expected to be while looking for good pasta in Gwangalli, and personally, everything we ordered that day was a success. The bisque cream pasta especially is something I would order again on my next visit.
Why I recommend it for lunch in Gwangalli
This was my first meal on a Busan trip after a long time away, which may be why it stayed with me even more. I went looking for good pizza in Gwangalli, but I was satisfied with not only the pizza but also the pasta, so I would like to stop by again on my next Busan trip.
I especially want to recommend it to anyone wondering where to have lunch in Gwangalli. It is close to both Gwangalli Beach and Gwangan Station, and the relaxed atmosphere makes it a nice place for an unhurried, brunch-like meal while traveling.
Next time, I definitely want to try other pizza flavors too. If you are looking for a good Gwangalli lunch spot, give Extra Mile a visit. Even as I write this post, I can still picture those flavors and textures and want to go again!
