A Hanwoo restaurant tucked into a Namcheon-dong alley

You know Namcheon-dong has so many good places to eat, right? I heard there was a beef restaurant where you could try lots of different cuts, so off we went!

Once you head into the Namcheon-dong side streets, it is across from Songwon Japanese Restaurant. It is easy to find if you come a little way down from Geumho Apartments.

There is no separate parking lot, but you may receive ₩3,000 parking support at Daerim Parking Lot right in front. In the evening, free parking may also be available at Suyeong-gu Office and Suyeong Tax Office.

The interior was modern, tidy, and simple. There were quite a lot of tables too, so it looked perfectly capable of handling groups.

Starting with limited-quantity Hanwoo special cuts

The set menu also looked good if you want to try a range of cuts, from the limited-quantity discounted special cuts to galbisal (beef short rib), salchisal, and saewusal.

We ordered four servings of the Hanwoo special-cut assortment and two servings of Hanwoo galbisal. There were four of us, and we started with four servings of the special cuts. They are sold in limited quantities, and ₩17,000 per serving is such a great price. For Hanwoo, at this price! ♥

I visited with a reservation. There were four of us plus a baby, and I loved that they gave us a spacious table. They also have high chairs.

The banchan (Korean side dishes) came out so neatly arranged: white kimchi, pickled chili peppers, scallion salad, and salad! There were also wood ear mushrooms, peppers, and three kinds of pickled myeongi leaves, which I loved ><

They even serve beef soup bubbling in a ttukbaegi (earthenware pot). I felt like I could get full on the sides before even touching the meat.

Special cuts grilled on cast iron with du-tae fat

Here are the four servings of special cuts we ordered first. Just look at that incredible beef marbling. Mushrooms, kabocha squash, and shishito peppers were ready to grill alongside it too.

The prepared special cuts were eopjinsal, samgaksal, and chimasal. What makes Yong Hanu especially distinctive is its use of a cast-iron grill and du-tae fat.

Du-tae fat is beef kidney fat, and it maximizes the meat’s flavor. The owner brushed it on personally and grilled the meat with such care ><

They cooked each cut to the right doneness. Even just looking at this Hanwoo, you could see it was full of juices.

Eopjinsal can be this delicious? I had usually only eaten galbisal, salchisal, or sirloin, but these special cuts were so tender and tasty too.

A tender piece of eopjinsal

The seasoning on the prepared sides was just right, so they paired beautifully with the beef. I especially loved the slightly bitter, popping flavor of whole-grain mustard with pickled myeongi leaves!

Maybe because it was grilled with the du-tae fat, it was tender and moist, and the beef flavor came through even more.

Staff-grilled galbisal and event yukhoe

Next came the two additional servings of galbisal. Each serving is 100 g, and it still felt like a generous amount.

The galbisal was browned beautifully on the cast-iron pan, which conducts heat so well. (Not grilled by me.) The owner grilled everything for us, so we could eat comfortably and deliciously.

Galbisal cut into easy-to-eat pieces

They cooked it just enough to keep the juices in, then cut it into easy-to-eat pieces. The galbisal was delicious too. Since this cut has quite a lot of fat, it could have been greasy, but it was not greasy at all—just wonderfully nutty.

Restaurant review-event information

The Hanwoo is already affordable, and they give you all this too..! The owner is an angel ♥ You cannot say no to draft beer. You can join the review event through T order!

Yukhoe received through the review event

And here is the yukhoe (seasoned raw beef) we received through the review event. The quality was seriously amazing. Such a thoughtful touch to include radish sprouts and pear. It was genuinely fresh, and the seasoning was the real kick. The sauce and beef worked so well together that it was high-quality enough to be worth ordering separately. You absolutely have to try it.

Seafood doenjang-jjigae simmered in the remaining beef fat

There are lots of meal dishes available too, and we ordered the small seafood doenjang-jjigae (soybean-paste stew). You can choose to have the stew served in a ttukbaegi or the cast-iron pan.

Ordering seafood doenjang-jjigae

For the cast-iron pan version, they wipe away some of the fat left after the meat, then pour in the stew. You simply let it boil and eat. It would be a shame to throw away that precious beef fat, right? Simmering the stew in the remaining beef fat made it impossible not to be delicious—what more is there to say?

This doenjang-jjigae has a whole blue crab in it, giving it a deep, spicy flavor. With the beef fat mixed in too, I finished a bowl of rice in no time.

When you order a meal, grilled seaweed, soy sauce, and well-fermented kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi) come with it. Save two or three pieces of beef, wrap them up together, and you will be in heaven.

The restrooms are inside the restaurant and separated by gender, so they are convenient to use. Such thoughtful touches too, with mouthwash and dental floss available.

Why I recommend it for family meals and company dinners

This is a great beef restaurant in Namcheon-dong for company dinners. It is great value, yet you can enjoy top-quality Hanwoo. The interior is clean, the owner is super kind, the atmosphere is lovely, and even the basic dishes are delicious.

Yong Hanu Namcheon Branch (용한우 남천점) in Namcheon-dong is also wonderful for a family meal or a special occasion. I was so happy to enjoy top-quality Hanwoo at this price. My sibling and parents were all satisfied too, so we will definitely come back next time. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a family meal or a beef restaurant in Namcheon-dong.
