Jeju City soul food restaurant with a weekday lunch deal: Dixie's
In short
Dixie's is a Southern American soul food restaurant in the alley between Dongmun Market and Gwandeokjeong in Jeju City. A couple stopped in for lunch on a weekday and ordered the Nashville Mac and Chicken Burger for 15,900 won and the Cajun Shrimp for 16,900 won, and the weekday deal between 12 pm and 1 pm added a free soda or mini side with a bowl order. Arriving early at Dixie's meant a seat with no wait, and the public parking lot directly across the street takes the pressure off parking in Jeju's old downtown.

What kind of restaurant is Dixie's? (a Gwandeokjeong alley near Jeju's Dongmun Market)
Dixie's is a Southern American soul food restaurant tucked in an alley near Gwandeokjeong, close to Jeju's Dongmun Market. It does things like Nashville hot chicken and Cajun shrimp bowls.

My husband and I walked over toward Gwandeokjeong for lunch and ducked into Dixie's. It's the kind of place that's quietly known among locals — I'd walked past it a bunch of times but this was my first time actually going in. I knew a restaurant like this existed in Jeju, but it took me a while to actually step inside.
The American South atmosphere inside Dixie's

The exterior has blue walls and dark wood paneling, and the sign catches your eye. While we were eating, people walking by kept glancing in as they passed.

Step inside and blues music plays pretty loud, with vintage American posters packed onto the walls. The lighting is low and dim, so even at midday it feels like evening in there.

There are bar seats plus 2- and 4-person tables — a casual sit-and-eat kind of space. There aren't many restaurants with this vibe in downtown Jeju City, so it felt novel the moment we sat down.

Dishes and drinks are self-service, it's a no-kids zone, and pets aren't allowed either. You order through a QR code at each table.
Dixie's weekday lunch deal, 12:00–13:00

At Dixie's, if you order a bowl between noon and 1pm on weekdays, you get to pick either a soda or a mini side. The mini side choices are mini mac and cheese or fries. I went with the soda.

Timing lunch near Dongmun Market to catch the Dixie's window is pretty worth it. Since we went early, there was plenty of room and we got seated right away with no wait. As it's become known as a Gwandeokjeong go-to, I figured it'd fill up past midday, so going early was the right call.
Nashville Mac and Chicken Burger, ₩15,900

What I picked was Dixie's Nashville Mac and Chicken Burger for ₩15,900. It's a burger with a Nashville hot chicken thigh patty and mac and cheese inside. You can choose one of three spice levels. I thought the mac and cheese would make it heavy, but the spiciness balanced it out nicely.

The coleslaw portion was pretty generous and paired well with the burger. With the soda alongside, I enjoyed it down to the last bite. The burger itself was quite big, so it was plenty for lunch.
Cajun Shrimp, ₩16,900: what my husband ordered

Dixie's Cajun Shrimp is ₩16,900. Six shrimp coated in Cajun seasoning and seared until nearly charred sit on top of a rice bowl. It comes with remoulade and Southern green sauces as standard.

My husband kept saying it was delicious while eating, and honestly the combination worked for my taste too. There aren't many places in Jeju that do Cajun shrimp properly.

Dixie's Cajun Shrimp has a BEST tag on the menu, and it's not there for no reason.
What else is on the bowl menu at Dixie's?

The Dixie & Bowl line is the core of Dixie's menu — rice bowls, mac bowls, salad bowls, topped with your choice of chicken or shrimp. There are burgers too, and recently they added a Big Tray menu that piles hot chicken, burger, mac and cheese, and biscuit all on one tray.

Where to park near Dixie's in Jeju's old downtown
Parking is tight around Jeju City's old downtown, but there's a public parking lot right across from Dixie's. There's no dedicated lot, but I heard the public lot switches to free in the evening.
If you're browsing Dongmun Market and want something a little different, give Dixie's a try. Calling it soul food isn't an exaggeration — they do it properly.
