Songridan-gil live jazz bar with front-row Friday show: Allegro

In short

Allegro is an Italian dining restaurant and live jazz bar that opened in August 2026 on the third floor of the Gloria Kalguksu building on Songridan-gil in Bangi-dong, Songpa, Seoul. On a Friday night, front-row seats sit level with the stage, and jazz singer Lee Ji-yeon and her band played through a meal of focaccia, seafood salad, mushroom cream potato gnocchi and a 300g sous-vide pork neck steak. Allegro puts real effort into the cooking for such a new place, making it a solid choice for Songpa pasta and Jamsil Italian dining.

Is this too early? But if you're already thinking about a year-end date or a Christmas restaurant, look this one up ahead of time — I have a feeling it'll be a good pick.

A Songridan-gil live jazz bar and Italian dining spot, top-tier sound, a small-theater kind of scale, and a stage with no step up so it feels right in front of you.

Allegro, newly opened in August '26.

Singer Lee Ji-yeon's full performance of My Favorite Things, uploaded here. Her tone has this bluesy quality that reminds me of Jaurim — give the whole song a listen.

What is the Allegro jazz show like?

Interior in muted, hotel-lounge tones; a stage with no step up so the performance feels vivid and immediate

Allegro's stage has no step up, so sitting in the front row means you can see the musicians' playing form up close. Did you catch singer Lee Ji-yeon's vocals and the band's jazz? Her voice has a slight huskiness with a nasal, groovy quality — my pick was the video I recorded of the romantic My Favorite Things, but my friend's pick, Vincent, the tribute to Van Gogh, suited her just as well, with its quiet melancholy like the sound of rain.

The set alternates between moments carried by the singer's vocals and stretches where you get to fully take in the band's instrumental playing.

The bassist, drummer, and cellist each have their own clear highlight moments, so if you secretly play in a band or have a trained ear or trained hands, you can watch their technique up close from the front row.

Where Allegro is and why we went

Isn't formal comfort exhausting? There's a feeling melody dissolves that's hard to put into words

My friend and I made Friday night plans. I generally love culture and the arts and consider myself sensitive to them — I won't claim deep expertise since I can't back that up, but... I'm the type who's easily made happy through art.

What's the point of rattling on with words AI could say better anyway — just let yourself be carried by the music.

Allegro sits on Songridan-gil in Bangi-dong, on the third floor above the well-known Gloria Kalguksu (calguksu, hand-cut noodle restaurant). A lot of live jazz bars are basement spots, but this one's on the third floor with a night view — precious.

Reservations and amenities at Allegro

An elevator building, wheelchair accessible, baby chairs available, corkage allowed, booking through Catchtable or Naver Reservation. It's Italian dining by day, and dining plus live jazz at night. The food is excellent on its own, but do experience it with the live show. Especially if you want to make the person you're with happy.

A Songridan-gil date night lesson

A great date on Songridan-gil comes with great service. *Keep in mind — your girlfriend is quietly judging you.

Make a good impression. The easy way to look good for your girlfriend isn't spending money carelessly — it's finding a place that's actually worth the money. And please, resist the urge to lecture her about the band or the music. That's lesson one.

Lesson two. Applaud at the right moments during the band's highlights. Do you really need to be checking your phone here, of all places?

What we ate at Allegro

Why is the food this good?.. well, because Italian dining is their actual business

Allegro is barely two weeks old, a new live jazz bar near Seokchon Lake. Whether it's just new-opening energy, we'll only know after three years, but the kitchen is clearly putting in the effort right now — good enough to go under Songpa pasta or Jamsil Italian keywords too.

Focaccia bread service

Focaccia as the bread service. Crisp on the outside, soft inside — I devoured it. It's been genuinely a while since bread service tasted this good.

Seafood salad

If it sounds like I'm exaggerating, go back and read my other posts — I write nice things, but I don't say things that aren't true. I'm just good with words, that's all. The seafood salad is

Cherry tomatoes, chicory, olives, octopus, mussels, bell pepper, onion, sea grapes, lime dressing

— that's the makeup, and you really should try it. It's fantastic. That tanginess had me thinking it wasn't lemon — was it a really good white balsamic? Turned out to be lime. I was scooping it up spoonful after spoonful.

If you sit front-row, snap the band and your food together in one shot. Maybe your girlfriend gets caught in frame too. Lesson three: you're taking my Instagram content, right?

Mushroom cream potato gnocchi

Mushroom cream potato gnocchi. It uses a variety of mushrooms so the cream sauce carries deep flavor. The potato has that guaranteed bounce, and the gnocchi is pan-seared well, so one bite in and I was already impressed. What is this cooking... I'm curious who the chef is, a rising star among Italian dining spots near Seokchon. I'm supposed to eat slowly while watching the show, but I couldn't help myself — I'll turn into a pig at this rate.

Even the plate looks handmade and pretty. I want it — kind of my style. It feels like something out of the Odyssey.

I've handed out all my lessons above, so I'll take a break too.

Sous-vide pork neck steak, 300g

The final dish arrives: sous-vide pork neck steak (300g). Yes, 300 grams — not some dainty little hundred-and-something-gram Chagall-style portion. Better value for the price than a charcoal samgyeopsal place.

Allegro's 300g sous-vide pork neck steak
Pork neck steak topped with cream sauce and red pepper

Sprinkled with black pepper and red pepper over the cream sauce, grilled just right. It's thick, so cutting it takes some effort — my friend held the table steady so I could cut it without wobbling. Not that anyone asked her to. Eating actual meat really fills you up — on that particularly draining Friday, if it hadn't been for this pork neck steak, I don't think I could have walked around Seokchon Lake until 11pm after leaving Allegro.

How was the sound in the front row?

A wide shot of the jazz performance at Allegro

Everyone looked beautiful. There are a lot of people out there who seem born just to enjoy music.

Music is my love, and life is music. May your love and your path ahead be music too.

On any day you face in life, leaning on each other, listening to a performance and a song, sharing good food —

— that, I think, is the root of hope. Don't put it into words, just feel it, Just A Feeling, 感じられる. The sound here is crystal clear — genuinely impressive.
