Whenever I'm craving Korean snack food, there's a tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) spot in Gojan-dong I always end up at! I went back again — for like the third or fourth time — to Yum Bbokki, my go-to Ansan tteokbokki restaurant. It's always so generous with portions and always tastes great, and this visit was no exception~!

Yum Bbokki sits right in the center of 25-si Plaza! The exterior is so cute, just like its name haha. Parking support is available too, so feel free to come by car or public transit~!
Here's the inside! I came a bit past lunch hour so it was quiet at first, but it filled up with customers in no time! It's not called an Ansan tteokbokki must-visit for nothing haha.

Ordering the Pujimi Yam set: rice tteok, spice level and sundae
Check out the menu!! We ordered the Pujimi Yam set with added sweet cheese boneless chicken! One great thing about Yum Bbokki is you can choose between rice tteok and wheat tteok, plus pick your spice level from 4 stages, and even choose whether your sundae (Korean blood sausage) comes with innards or not! Being able to customize everything to your taste is a huge plus~!

Yum Bbokki just added rice tteokbokki to the menu!! As a rice tteok loyalist, this was very welcome news haha. Being able to order by preference — wheat vs. rice — was great~!

You can really tell Yum Bbokki takes their food seriously. They don't just use any tteok — they use fresh wheat tteok with no preservatives, and make everything with their own signature sauce blend!

Yum Bbokki's self-serve bar and receipt review freebie
After ordering at Yum Bbokki, you just grab what you need from the self-serve bar! Utensils, small plates, pickled radish — it's all there for you to help yourself!

If you take part in the receipt review event, you get a free Coolpis drink! You can't have tteokbokki without Coolpis haha. Do the review event and grab one for yourself~!
How much food is in the Pujimi Yam set?
Food's here~!! The portion is,,,, seriously massive!! It's enough for 3-4 people! Leftovers can be packed to go, so keep that in mind!!

Tteokbokki usually comes with quail eggs, but living up to the name Pujimi Yam ('generous yam'), they gave us a regular chicken egg instead lol. Getting extra protein while eating tteokbokki — talk about killing two birds with one stone~!

Sweet cheese boneless chicken and fish cake broth
The sweet cheese boneless chicken comes topped with sweet cheese powder just like the name says! The crispy, warm chicken paired really well with the tteokbokki sauce!!

The fish cake broth balances out the spiciness of the tteokbokki! The scallions are cut into big chunks, which really brings out the broth's clean, refreshing flavor!

The fried sides and rice balls you make yourself
The fried items include fish cake tempura, squid tempura, and gimmari (fried seaweed roll)! They were crispy with great texture, so I enjoyed every last bite!!

Cut them up with scissors and dip them in the tteokbokki sauce — pure bliss! Lol

For the rice balls, you make them yourself! The sweet-and-salty combo wasn't overpowering, so I enjoyed them a lot!! It's an addictive flavor you keep wanting more of haha.

I'm a dipping-sauce person through and through haha, so I dunked the rice balls in the tteokbokki sauce too haha. There's plenty of sauce, so it's great for dipping all kinds of things~
Is Yum Bbokki worth going back to?
As always, I left full and satisfied at Yum Bbokki haha. Next time I'll come back when I'm craving something spicier!! If you're looking for a good-value restaurant or a tteokbokki spot in Gojan-dong, Ansan, why not give Yum Bbokki a try~?
