Haeundae Chinese restaurant with baby high chairs and cups: Bueokgan
In short
Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch is a Chinese restaurant on Dalmaji-gil in Haeundae, Busan, with the Chinese dining room on the 1st floor and a Western restaurant on the 2nd. Visiting with her husband and baby, the writer ordered poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang, beef belly jjamppong, black vinegar sweet and sour pork and paihuanggua (Chinese-style smashed cucumber), and Bueokgan provided a high chair plus separate baby spoons, forks and cups, so the baby could lie down while the two of them ate. The jjajang sauce was good enough to order extra rice for — a dependable pick for a meal out with a baby.

Today I went to Bueokgan Chinese with my baby and husband! I've been craving jjajangmyeon, jjamppong and sweet and sour pork lately, and I wanted to eat at a clean, proper place.

Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch: Chinese on the 1st floor, Western on the 2nd
Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae Branch has a Chinese restaurant on the 1st floor and a Western restaurant on the 2nd. I loved that the interior was clean and nicely decorated.

Can you bring a baby to Bueokgan? High chair, table spacing and baby tableware
The seats at Bueokgan Chinese are spaced out generously, so Juwon got to lie down and watch mom and dad eat~ Some restaurants have tables packed so close together it's uncomfortable and you keep bumping into things, but there was none of that worry here. I think you could even bring a stroller and have room for two, haha.

Looking around the place, they had not just baby chairs but separate tableware too. This was the first time I'd seen a place with spoons, forks and cups just for babies — you can really feel the owner's thoughtfulness. Plus there's group seating, so it'd be great for moms getting together with their little ones!!

Four dishes ordered by two adults at Bueokgan
There were two of us, and we ordered poached-egg pork belly jjajangmyeon (jjajang, black bean sauce noodles), beef belly jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup), paihuanggua, and black vinegar pork sweet and sour pork! You've got to try the main dishes, the sweet and sour pork is the signature menu so we added it, and I love paihuanggua so...
Beef belly jjamppong: spicy enough to enjoy, mild enough for a spice wimp

The jjamppong broth was a bit spicy but refreshing, which I loved 🥺 Not the kind of spicy that just burns your throat — it's a good spicy! Even as a spice-wimp, I could handle it just right and enjoyed every bite~ It's loaded with wood ear mushrooms and beef belly, and you could also choose to have it as jjamppong rice, which I bet would be delicious too (perfect hangover food the morning after drinking...).
Poached-egg pork belly ganjjajang: the sauce that made extra rice a must

I don't know how they get the poached egg just right — a light touch and it burst right open. My husband mixed it up nicely for us ^.^ My favorite kind of jjajangmyeon has a delicious sauce and lots of ingredients, and after one spoonful, I knew — you absolutely have to order rice with this.

Can you see the shine on the jjajangmyeon? The jjajang sauce is truly smooth and clings to your mouth... I gobbled it up and added rice 🍚

Honestly, it was just the two of us, and I know it sounds greedy, but there was no way we weren't adding rice to that jjajangmyeon. If we'd left that sauce behind, I think I'd have been thinking about it once we got home, haha.
Black vinegar sweet and sour pork: why it stays crispy to the last piece

I usually prefer the dry version over sauce poured on top, but somehow here I could eat it crispy all the way through even with the sauce. They say it's made with Chinese black vinegar, and the sauce is really the kicker 🤤 What decides the quality of sweet and sour pork is the chewy batter and the sauce, and this place nails both.

They sprinkled cheese on top too, which made every single bite fun.
Paihuanggua: Chinese-style smashed cucumber at Bueokgan

Paihuanggua is smashed cucumber tossed in soy sauce, vinegar, minced garlic and more, served cold — a Chinese-style cucumber dish 🥒 You know how ramen just isn't the same without kimchi? This is that for this meal!! If you come to Bueokgan, make sure to add this one. I could've eaten two whole plates of it ㅠ

One bite between the jjajangmyeon and the jjamppong. One more bite between the jjamppong and the sweet and sour pork. It works like a palate cleanser — refreshing, crunchy and sweet.... I don't even like onions but even the onions here were tasty ㅠ It's not your typical cucumber pickle taste, more like a refreshing fruit? A drink? It would genuinely be great as a beer snack!
Please share the recipe, chef ❤️
What two adults left behind: one piece of sweet and sour pork

If the two of us ate this much, you have to admit it's genuinely delicious. Such a solid restaurant~~ We left one piece behind out of guilt since I heard finishing it means gaining weight.

Juwon, pinching us for eating something delicious without him... Another good meal with my husband and baby today.
