In short
Eungbongjip Dasan Station Branch is a flash-frozen samgyeopsal (pork belly) restaurant near Exit 6 of Dasan Station in Namyangju, Gyeonggi. A family of three, including a 19-month-old, ate two servings of samgyeopsal plus a serving of ppol-hangjeongsal (pork cheek and jowl) and doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice stew) after a jjimjilbang visit, all for around ₩50,000. With in-building parking and a baby chair, it made for an easy dinner with a toddler in tow.

The Dasan samgyeopsal spot everyone's talking about — "Eungbongjip"
It's been a while since I had quality flash-frozen samgyeopsal (pork belly) this satisfying and delicious. Eungbongjip, our go-to Dasan restaurant, turned out to be exactly our style of samgyeopsal place!

Right after the jjimjilbang, near Exit 6 of Dasan Station

It's close to Exit 6 of Dasan Station. If you're using public transit, Exit 6 is your stop! We'd gone to Dasan King Jjimjilbang (sauna) with the family and were debating whether to eat there or not — but we really wanted a proper meal of samgyeopsal and rice after bathing. Samgyeopsal after a sauna and bath is seriously the best... 🐷

Baby's first jjimjilbang was a huge success, and the samgyeopsal restaurant visit with baby was a huge success too.

Atmosphere and seating
Eungbongjip, our Dasan favorite, had a clean sign and facilities outside, and the inside was just as tidy.

Samgyeopsal tends to splatter oil a bit, but every table was wrapped neatly in plastic, and the staff kept moving busily to clean up and keep the place tidy. We visited on a Monday evening, and there was a mix of customers — a group dinner party, a dating couple, family tables. We were one of those family tables :)

We ordered through a tablet. Selecting everything this way was so convenient.

Basic side dishes and pudding-like steamed egg
The basic side dishes were honestly touching. They came neatly arranged on a round wooden tray. We ordered an extra serving of that fluffy, pudding-like steamed egg — it had the smoothness of chawanmushi with a salty edge alongside.

Pickles, garlic, peppers (a little spicy), fresh wasabi, egg soy sauce, ssamjang (dipping sauce), curry powder, salt, gochujang (red chili paste), and the steamed egg. It's a neat, pretty restaurant that would work well for a date too.

Our table, filled up as the samgyeopsal arrived!

2 samgyeopsal + 1 ppol-hangjeongsal — the perfect combo
This is the specialty cut, ppol-hangjeongsal (pork cheek and jowl). Ordering 2 samgyeopsal + 1 ppol-hangjeongsal turned out to be just right.

Start with samgyeopsal, finish with ppol-hangjeongsal. I seriously recommend this course. Ppol-hangjeongsal is a rare cut — only two servings' worth come from a single pig! Recommended for anyone who loves the chewy specialty cuts.

Chewy texture and savory meat flavor are its signature. There was a line on the store's poster describing it as "a fantastic duet of chewiness and savoriness" — and that's exactly the taste, the whole package.

How to grill on the stone plate
Once the stone plate is fully heated, the samgyeopsal goes on.

The reason Eungbongjip is the go-to samgyeopsal spot in Dasan is the quality — it's not too thin, and there's no off smell at all.

Sprinkling on pepper is the finishing touch!

Wraps came with perilla leaves, lettuce, and minari (water dropwort). The lettuce was so fresh I loaded up on lettuce wraps, my husband went for perilla leaf wraps, and we grilled the minari right along with the samgyeopsal. Seriously, everything that goes well with samgyeopsal is here!

Our 19-month-old finished a whole bowl of rice
Our 19-month-old ate the samgyeopsal, steamed egg, and rice really well. Finished a whole bowl of rice.

A must-order: doenjang sulbap
The one thing you must order — doenjang sulbap (soybean paste rice stew). Rich, savory doenjang stew with rice mixed right in, the kind that just slides down, pairs with drinks, works for anything. There's meat in it, vegetables too.

The spicy kick was alive in it, and it made me think of soju right away.

Salted seafood also comes out on the stone plate — dip the chewy cuts in this.

The umami level goes way, way up!

Family of three, around ₩50,000 total — final verdict
Even the plain water had a barley-tea scent, so even the water tasted good.
Two adults, one kid, three servings of meat, two bowls of rice, one sulbap, extra steamed egg. Around ₩50,000 for a family of three, meal done. Great value, great location — next time we're in Dasan, I'll bring my husband and son back again. A restaurant I want to come back to with soju next time — this was Eungbongjip, our go-to Dasan Station restaurant! 👶🏻💛
