Need a quiet Korean BBQ spot in Bangi-dong near Seokchon Lake in Jamsil? I visited Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch, which looked great for family meals or work dinners thanks to its calm, upscale vibe and private rooms.

It wasn't a loud, rowdy kind of place, so it also seemed like a nice date spot around Seokchon Lake in Jamsil haha. Here's my review!

What's on the menu at Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch, from grilled meat to sashimi

Yukmong uniquely sells both grilled meat and raw fish!

They have pork, beef, and aged sashimi too, so it seemed even better for visiting with a group.

What gave me confidence in the freshness of the meat was that they also sell raw dishes like beef tartare (yukhoe) and raw beef sashimi (yuk-sashimi). Those are dishes you can only serve if the meat is truly fresh, so I felt like I could trust it.

The drinks menu ranges from regular soju and beer to draft beer, premium soju, and red wine, so there are plenty of options.

What two people ordered: 550g Korean pork sampler and Seolhwa 1% marbled short rib

There were two of us, and we ordered the Korean pork sampler, Seolhwa 1% marbled beef short rib, draft beer, and mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) — that was our full order.

Table setup of the Korean pork sampler ordered for two

The Korean pork sampler includes pork neck, belly, and skirt meat, totaling 550g. It also comes with doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew).

Rice is extra haha. I wanted to try the beef too, but the sampler set was already quite a lot, so we added a single serving of the marbled beef rib on top. Everything came out beautifully arranged when ordered, and the staff grilled it for us directly.

Tableside grilling service from first cut to last

They don't just put the meat on the grill — they grill it all the way through for you. It's nice to enjoy meat cooked at its best by someone who really knows what they're doing.

It let us focus more on conversation, and most of all, we could eat comfortably. The side dishes were also set out neatly, with a clean Korean-style presentation.

Best cuts ranked: pork neck, then skirt meat, then belly

Among the pork sampler cuts, Monggeul Mongsul's preference went neck > skirt meat > belly. It's not that the belly tasted worse — it's just the most familiar flavor, so it ranked a little lower.

Three cuts of Korean pork cooking on the grill

The pork neck was really tender and juicy, which I loved. The skirt meat came out as a whole cut, thick and delicious.

The beef gets grilled first, and well… beef is beef. It was so tender it disappeared in seconds haha.

For dessert we had mul-naengmyeon, which is based on a meat broth, so it paired well as a finish.

Free corkage in Jamsil, a rarity, with wine glasses set out

It's hard to find a corkage-free spot in Seoul, especially in Songpa, Jamsil. Sure, only the first bottle is free, but ₩10,000 per bottle after that still felt reasonable to me.

Bottle of red wine brought for corkage

We brought a light red wine, and after seeing it, they even set up wine glasses for us. Since whiskey is also allowed for corkage, I'd guess they'd set up whiskey glasses for that too!

If you want to use corkage, it's probably a good idea to ask in advance.

Quiet, polished interior and basement rooms for up to 24

What satisfied me most was the calm interior atmosphere.

Calm dining hall inside Yukmong Bangi Direct Branch

The moment you walk in, even though it's a BBQ restaurant, it has a quiet, upscale feel.

Upscale interior design of the BBQ restaurant

The tables and floor were spotless, with nothing slippery. That's probably thanks to the smoke extraction system positioned close to the grill.

Overall, you can eat in a calm atmosphere, so it seemed great for dining with parents, anniversary dates, or work dinners.

Private room space on the basement floor

On top of that, the basement floor has private rooms, which looked great for meeting the in-laws or entertaining guests. The rooms can reportedly seat up to about 24 people.

I'd like to come back for an anniversary. The owner and staff were all kind, and we could eat quietly, so I left wanting to visit again.
